Wow! My first time and I walked in clueless to what I wanted, just knew I was craving iced coffee. Such nice helpful, patient people work here. Asked me some questions and figured out a great recommendation for me to try. Home run! New Orleans Style iced coffee, almond milk, chicory has a smooth taste of chocolate without all the calories. Really great coffee, excellent experience. So excited one is coming soon to Holmdel. I know I will be visiting the new location as soon as it opens.

Solid choice in an underserved area when it comes to coffee options. Have come here many times and often get the Bali or iced New Orleans. If I’m in the area and need coffee, this is always my choice. I usually get a New Orleans concentrate to go — much prefer this over their Traditional.

Guatemala coffee to go please! This has become my regular order and will have to be for as long as it’s available because I cannot go without it anymore. Don’t get me wrong most of the coffees you can choose from from here are fantastic but that is my go to brew! I can honestly say the hype is real for Rook!

One of my favorite coffee places! I got the Costa Rica(mild) blend with a little bit of cream and sugar and it was perfect. I got this coffee blend grounded very finely to take home. The service is very friendly despite being very busy!

I can’t say enough good things about Rook. I was introduced to them about a year ago and I’m a pretty big coffee fanatic so I couldn’t be happier that a local non-Starbucks kind of place existed here in NJ. It is a bit far from me(half hour or so) but I will happily drive there when I can to have a delicious cup of coffee and take some bagged coffee home. The staff is always very friendly, and it doesn’t matter what I get or who makes it, it’s always made perfectly. My favorite order in the warmer months is a iced latte style, and my favorite seasonal is their pumpkin coffee which is way better than what you’ll get at any old chain coffee place. If you’re not sure what to get, just ask the staff they are very helpful. Keep doing what you’re doing Rook, you’re the best!

So much better than that dump in Asburys Convention hall at least this place is clean. The coffee is nice, way better than Starbucks.

One of the girls from my gym introduced me to this place, specifically for their New Orleans style cold brew. After the first sip, I was hooked. I wish they had locations closer, but definitely worth the drive. The coffee is high quality and the staff has always been extremely nice the few times I have visited… so glad they sell bottles of their cold brew so I can stock up for home.

Rook Coffee is like a touch of Seattle here in the neighborhood. They have a friendly, trendy little shop with great tasting coffee and a knowledgeable staff. For those of us who are coffee drinkers, this is what a true experience is and they excel far beyond any of the commercialized chains. We’ve gotten coffees here and grinds to go to make at home and unlike others we’ve had, we still get that great flavor which is a sign of a truly good coffee. And the best part of it is, the prices are not over-inflated.

Love, love, love the coffee here. We order whole bean coffee from them at least once a month and stop by the shop whenever we’re in the area. This is now our go-to coffee place.

Coffee was the best in the area. The store is a little difficult to spot the first time. The location is not nice and is a pain to get in and out of during busy traffic hours. Staff was not friendly. I would prefer to add milk and cream myself instead of relying on the staff to try to get it right to your taste.

Wow this place deserves nothing less than five stars! I do my fair share of coffee drinking and have even turned into a bit of a coffee snob over the years. Rook makes hands down some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I can say without hesitation that their New Orleans style iced coffee is the BESTICEDCOFFEE I’VEEVERHAD! For the record, I do take my coffee with cream(I’ve been told that real coffee drinkers drink coffee black. Well I’m sorry, I thought this was America!). The gentleman serving up coffee couldn’t have been nicer. He talked about their different blends and gave a whole new definition to service with a smile. I’ve been to two Rook locations and neither have seating available. However, the last time I came here, my girlfriend and I made the short drive to Red Bank(soon to be new location for Rook) and walked along the marina with delicious iced coffee in hand. Ahh life is good with good coffee.

Having come here on and off for about a year now, I’m feeling like the initial«wow» factor has kind of worn off — at least for me. Why is that? Well, a few reasons: First off, I’ve noticed the coffee has been quite inconsistent here. I normally ordered a regular Hondoruas with«just a touch of cream for color», since good fresh roasted stuff really shouldn’t need anything in it. Apparently asking for a touch of cream is a tall order, since it almost always came back to me with a ton of the stuff, which kind of ruins the flavor of the coffee itself. «Okay», I thought, «I’ll just order it black then, and put my own cream in at the office». This made me realize why the creamer always felt overbearing — some days the coffee was super watery, other days it had a decent body. Maybe their grinder isn’t up to snuff, I don’t know. On top of that, the couple of times I bought whole beans for my machines at home, I was a bit disappointed. Now, I’m no stranger to coffee — I own one of those crazy super-automatic espresso machines in addition to my standard drip maker, as well as a fairly high end burr grinder. The resulting brews from the beans here have been merely so-so, compared to places like Asbury Park Roastery or JSCR. Why it is, I have no idea, but the only guess I have is that in an effort to expand, they’ve lost a bit of that«craft» /small batch flavor. Don’t get me wrong, Rook is still a solid choice for coffee in the area, and is *miles* ahead of the swill you’ll get at places like Starbucks or Dunkin. That said, it’s a tad pricy for a cup of coffee, especially considering they can never seem to get my order right, and the inconsistencies /quality from their rapid expansion is starting to show, at least in my opinion.
