I’ve only dealt with them by ordering over the phone but they are amazing! High quality products and customer service is up to par! They are one of my fav suppliers and I can’t wait to check out their showroom. Highly recommend if you are seeking private label cosmetics! Plus they make it easy to make your custom blends!

If there was ever a perfect make up that can barely be seen unlike other cakey complexions with over the counter cosmetics, that would be COLORLAB make up. Even though they shut down their Chicago locations, I have been reordering online from their Rockford one– never ever experienced such velvety texture and results from another product but ColorLab’s foundations, blushes, lip glosses. They will never leave you more wrinkled, or your skin dry and the best part– everything is custom blended if you want. And folks– NOPARABENS, just FINESTBOTANICALS! Loooove it!

I have always been happy with the products that I have purchased from Colorlab. I am African-American, and for some reason, most mainstream cosmetic companies feel that ‘we’ are only come in three shades… light, medium, and dark. The tones are always totally off. For years, the only other makeup option was to purchase from a cosmetic line that offered more skin tone varieties, but was super thick — which made me look like I had a ton of makeup on. It was totally refreshing to find out about Colorlab. I was able to go into a store and purchase a foundation that matched me without looking like I had a mask on. You know? And it was also wonderful to be able to get a gloss and eyeshadow in a shade that I felt was just right. With that being said: Can anyone tell me if there are ANY Colorlab stores left in the Chicago area(suburbs included)? The Armitage store is closed, and I just found out that the Sears/Oakbrook store is now closed.

As of Feb. 28, 2011 — Both the Armitage and Division stores are closed! I knew the one on Armitage had closed, but drove over to the one on Division only to find it completely closed. I even called the store ahead of time to get the hours and it gave me the current hours without any mention of being closed.

It’s a bit of a gimmick, but who doesn’t like to have unique products made exactly to their specifications? Makeup can be notoriously hard to match, and it always seems like the perfect product gets discontinued as soon as you find it. Colorlab can make just about any makeup product, just for you. They can do it from scratch or attempt to match an existing product you provide for them. I went in and asked about a custom concealer, since I’m ridiculously pale and usually find most concealers too dark or yellowish for my skin. The sales associate asked me a variety of questions and mixed up a concealer just for me. It didn’t take much to make the color, and he didn’t actually swatch it on me until he was through — which surprised me, since I’d think you’d want to check the color pretty frequently. The match is decent, and the coverage is thick, but it’s a little greasy and doesn’t last like I’d hoped. I think their biggest limitation is going to be in the formulae they have available for each product. They can make any color, but it may or may not be the consistency you desire or a texture/opacity match to the product you bring in. Take the concealer — they offered me concealer in a pot or in a tube with a wand. They couldn’t match a stick concealer or a powder concealer. I’d assume this would also be an issue with foundation, where other companies make dozens of varieties with different textures and finishes and special properties. This place is a decent formulary, but they can’t really make everything. In the future, I’d probably stick with lipstick and eyeshadow and whatnot — color products and not the true basics. Prices were about average for high-end cosmetics.

I recently had my make up professionally done as a trial for my upcoming wedding. We couldn’t quite hit the right lip color and then, she pulled out a stub of a lip liner paired it with a gloss and it was perfection. She gave me the tiny lip liner and told me that my mission before my wedding is to find this color, somewhere, somehow because the lip liner brand she had used on me went out of business! I went to Saks, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Sephora, etc… and I just couldn’t find the color. It’s a really«blue-pink-nude» — so pretty — but impossible to find in the midst of all the designer make up out there. I was on Armitage last weekend(I’ve literally walked by Colorlab a bunch of times without REALLY paying attention) and saw«CUSTOMCOLORLAB» and freaked out. I realized that I had been wasting so much time looking for this color, when this miracle store on Armitage could make me this discontinued, impossible to find lip color. I passed over my precious stub-liner — they told me it would take 5 – 7 business days, and I got a call less than 24 hours later that my color was ready. They made me 2 lipsticks and a lip gloss in 10 minutes and I walked out soooo happy. They even keep my color on file so I can call and order more — at a discount — without having to go back in. HIGHLYRECOMMENDCOLORLAB! I wish a place like this existed for jeans!

The store display caught my eye with the RevitaLash, and so I wanted to hear more about it. The sales lady told me about it and did a great job selling the product. It was very impulsive of me, and as I went on to read more about it online I saw that I could have bought the product for half the price. I of course, wanted to return it to get my money back but checked the receipt to see what the policy was and it indicated that all sales are final and no returns! WTF?! So, now you know I’m pissed because I feel very ripped off and cheated! I have tried to call the store and keep getting the answering machine. I’m waiting for a return phone call…

Cheap and awesome. I’m not so girly, and wanted to waste zero minutes of my day trying to find the right shade of concealer. I just sat there and they made me a stick of concealer that matches my skin and does what it’s supposed to, then made a little record of me so it’ll take even less time when I need a refill! You can even call ahead/pick-up. I have super sensitive dry skin and I freak out about ingredients, so it’s nice to know that they’re all mineral. Minus one star because the girl who made my make-up, even though she knew what she was doing, had NO idea what she was talking about. Begged me to let her do my eye make-up. Because I have green eyes, she wanted to use red(what??). Trying to talk about complimentary colors and kept calling it some other rando word… maybe convex… con…something. I don’t know. Way off. I looked like Rupaul and had to clean it off immediately with a dirty kleenex and old tea in my car. Which would be unforgivable, if she didn’t mix a mean tube o’ goo.

OMG, I am the biggest fan! Every 2 – 3 weeks I’m at Benefit getting waxed(lol) and about once a month I run across the street to either get a refill on a previous creation or create a new one-of-a kind. Since my name begins w PH I’m creating my very own personal line of color cosmetics. My first is called Phlirty. SUCH a pretty color that matched my mood that day. Chad is A W E S O M E. There’s a cute little dark haired chica w/blue eyes who does great eye makeup! Always add the lip plump so you lips don’t show lines(no sting here). I found the purrrrfect shade of foundation to make my complexion look flawless. You HAVE to try it. I found this place after getting a free empty tube for me to create my own lip gloss(got it at a fashion show for Roslyn Boutique). You must you must you must try it darlings! I have even seen some gentlemen friends in there(hee hee) getting their concealer. Get your face done before a big event. I had a wedding to attend last March and I tried to bribe the makeup artist into traveling with me to Ohio. No go, he was already booked. My face was FLAWLESS… when I brought a friend with me she was amazed at how naturally gorgeous my makeup was after. Never got this kind of look — most makeup artists put DARK lipstick on me and I end up looking like a floosy! I prefer to have my eyes played up and my lips sheerly tinted.

I absolutely loved my experience here yesterday, The lady who helped us was very friendly, and it was great to finally get a foundation that suits my skin tones!
