We come to this café For breakfast. Our waitress is Maggie, she is very friendly and the food comes out fast. The food is good, this is a nice café to have breakfast. One of a couple cafes in Ojai that I recommend.

Good not great. Would possibly eat there again if in the mood for mediocre food with quick service. Staff was nice enough on a Sunday morning.

This cute little diner is in my neighborhood. Me and my husband and 6 month old go there every Saturday for breakfast :) We love this place it’s very comforting, the food is great, and the price for the food can’t be beat. Very cute and country. Only downfall is how busy they are on weekends but that’s just because everyone loves it there.

One of the best breakfast places I’ve been too in the area. From the waitresses to the cooks, the whole staff is friendly. I Like the«old school» feel to it and the place is nicely decorated. The eggs are delicious and the pancakes are awesome. Next time your in Oak View, give this place a try.

True to form for the stereotypical«country bumpkin, greasy spoon, little roadside café». The food was fantastic!!! Everything scratch made(try the country gravy) and damn tasty! Great, friendly service. Reasonably priced. A true diamond in the rough. I will definitely be going back there again!

Not bad, super typical diner food. Not memorable but an omelette for $ 8 is the best price in the valley. I ordered biscuits and gravy for my side instead of toast, not realizing there was sausage in it. Great news for meat eaters, but vegetarians such as my self: beware. I come here while I am waiting to get my oil changed across the street.

This is our regular weekend breakfast stop. Maggie is a wonderful server and is always welcoming as is the rest of the team. J&M is more old school diner than foo foo breakfast stop. You’ll find the standards here. The décor isn’t fancy, but its clean. You won’t get special muffins/breads or much in the way of fresh fruit(other than a banana). However, your eggs will be cooked properly, and your food will arrive hot and timely. Unfortunately, this is often not the case in the«fancier» Ojai breakfast spots. We’re glad to patronize a hard working local business!

What can one say when describing J&M? While the staff are nice, I consider this café a last resort to dining out. Case in point yours truly arrived late into Oak View and was informed this would be our only option. I hadn’t been to J&M in several years even before I moved out of Oak View… It felt like I’d stepped back in time because it looks exactly the same way, which is always a big draw to locals. The waitresses are always friendly, one of them saw me and still remembered my name! No the real failure here is the food, while its cooked well, the problem is there is just nothing special to it, you don’t leave there thinking that you’ve had a terrific meal and it was worth every penny, you leave with a belly full but with no memory of what you just ate… I could eat a bowl of cereal at home and do that. I had the standard breakfast eggs over medium, two sausage links & home potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the sausage while good reminds me of Jimmy Dean Sausages you can buy at the grocery store, and the home potatoes had no seasoning. Will I go back, as I said the waitress’s are sweet as pie, but the food isn’t worth my dime. Guess that will teach me to be late again,

Wonderful spot for breakfast on the main road to Ojai — very warm & friendly service, breakfast fare was good. Need to support places like this rather than chains like Denny’s.

Disgusting! Thought it would at least be better than a Denny’s or Carrows. NOPE! How anyone can mess up mashed potatoes and fried chicken is beyond words. The mashed potatoes were not fresh, they were from a box. The gravy from a can and the chicken just thrown into a frier. No veggies on the side just sad tomatoes and a piece of toast. The salad is ice berg! No nutrition here. WORSTEVER! $ 13TOO. FAIL!

Decent meal. I would go again, but it would not be my first choice. It reminded me of a local’s breakfast spot, it was good enough to keep people coming back but I would guess more for the familiarity than the food. The wait staff seemed nice and greeted everyone that came in as though they had seen them before. Seating was nice and clean. Unfortunately I chose a spot near the kitchen and it got a little warm and noisy, but that was my wonderful choice in seating — way to go self. There were several nice seating choices throughout the rest of the restaurant. The omelet I got was fine. I am always a little disappointed when the omelet comes out and looks like something I could have gotten at Denny’s, you know those nicely decorated triangle cheese slices melted over the top of a small omelet. The spinach and mushrooms in the omelet were okay. I also got pineapples with my meal instead of potatoes, my mistake. The pineapples were pretty bad and I chose not to finish them, they were not fresh and tasted as though it was out of a can. Again I would eat the meal again, but it would not be my first… or second choice. The coffee was sub-par as well. I had three cups and still struggled to stay awake, thankfully there was pleasant noises of clashing plates and new whiffs of food hitting the grill to snap me back into reality. The price is fair for what you get. I could see it being a cool little spot on the weekends, the price is manageable enough to frequent the place without breaking the bank.

Had dinner there tonight. Mostly Mexican food on the dinner selections. All items are available a la carte. My wife had an Asada taco with a side of Spanish rice(just enough for her). I had the three enchilada plate — came with rice and beans. Enchiladas were beef. chicken & cheese all were tasty! The pico sauce was excellent(took some home). The chips were warm. Service was excellent! We will return again soon! Don’t miss the new dinner selections.

We have breakfast here most weekends. The food is consistently hot, fresh, and delicious. The service is top notch. Maggie and Amanda are the best waitresses in the county! Stop by and see what you’re missing. This place is the BEST! Oh, and very easy on the wallet, the two of us can have breakfast and coffee for under $ 20.00.
