You wander in and order a few bean burritos, on the PA system«The Bomb» by the bucketheads is playing in the background. You quickly use the nasty filthy thing they call a bathroom and try to quickly open the door and get out before it slams shut. You order your food, get your drink and sit down, watching, listening, tasting… Sipping your Mt Dew… watching cars go by and wonder where you will be in 2, 5, 10 years from now, will you be able to overcome your facial acne and ask that pretty chic out on a date? Will you ever get out of this stinkin state and move to the west coast and be part of something new? The year is 1995, the place is Taco Bell off Rutgers. Man this was probably one of my first fast food experiences. My Dad would take us here and when I worked in Oak Ridge I’d swing by here for lunch. I remember in my last few years in the area in my mid 20s I’d swing by here after 10pm. Dependable crew worked there. It’s hard to quantify the nostalgic love I have for this place this particular Taco Bell, theres also the one that was near where the old KMart used to be in Farragut I think. Anywhoo Fast Forward nearly 20 years later and once once ONCE in a great while I’ll swing by the taco bell and order some colon clearing entrees. But this place still resides in my memory. I am glad it’s still there, dunno how old it is probably been there for ages but I hope I can swing by there when I come down to visit again… I mean this is Taco Bell people but there is so much more… so much more here. Not just some stucco building with a nasty bathroom Not just some gathering area for lowlifes after 8pm Not just some island of filth in the surrounding asphalt…
