I used to always comb out my hair after visiting a salon. Nobody ever did my hair the way I asked, or made it flattering to my face. The color would be off and, combined with the styles, ranged from not quite right to just plain ugly. Nicky styled my hair the way I asked, gave me the color that I wanted and added her own special touch that made me look fantastic. I get so many complements. Everyone leaves Sira Salon looking beautiful!

I can’t rave more about Nicky! I absolutely love her work on my hair and it is worth EVERY PENNY. Not only does she style and cut beautifully but I can trust her with my hair. She cares about the health of it and addresses any question I may have to continue my own care at home. This is a rare quality in beauticians and I can’t say enough about how great she is. I came in with damaged and broken hair and now have a gorgeous thickness and silk that a person can easily be jealous of. I recommend her to everyone I know. This is the place to go.

So far I’m loving it! My first experience was a week and a half ago when I decided to stop wearing braids and just wear my natural hair. I knew it needed to be cut becaue of heat and braid damage. Ashley did my hair, she took the time to get to know about me and my hair journey. I was really anxious and concerned about the cut and vanity, but ultimately my goal is healthy hair. She really made me feel warm and invinted, in fact the salon itself makes you feel warm and invited. I loved the color I loved the cut I loved the style. She made recommendations based on what I had told her which means she listened, and i was able to go home feeling more comfortable in my natural hair. Although the owner, Nicky, did not do my hair, she still made me feel as if i were one of her clients. She is very welcoming. I saw her do several clients hair and it came out beautiful, naturals and relaxed alike. Today I decided to take my cut to the next level and get a taper, and I am very pleased with the results. I can’t wait to continue my journey at Sira’s and I feel like I may have just found the place for me and my natural hair after such a long journey of research and anxiety :-)

Great service, nice people. A little in the pricy side– but worth it. I just moved to this area and I tried a few places. So far this is the best place in the area. I love the fact that you can book online and they are open on Sundays. Focus in healthy hair– so you don’t leave feeling like your hair is fried and died.

The service was nice and I liked that they had sulfate free shampoo. But… I ended up paying 85 dollars for a two inch trim of split ends. The girl who helped me was seriously nice! But, since I already had short hair, there isn’t much more you can do as far as styling is concerned. So, when I finished paying, I remembered why I stopped going to salons.
A blow out can literally be done at home. Plug in your blow dryer and it takes fifteen minutes TOPS.
You can also flat iron your hair at home.
You can buy organic, sulfate free shampoo at Target or Whole Foods for 10 dollars minimum.
You can cut two inches of split ends yourself as well. I have short hair and really, a style with short hair usually consists of lots of gel or spritz spray and spikes. I can do that myself…
I like supporting independent business, but I think this will be my last visit to a salon…

Ashley styled my hair for the first time today. Loved it – and her! She gave me exactly what I asked for — volume, shine and bounce. Plus she has a warm personality, which as a first-​time customer, made my visit more pleasurable. I recommend her for your styling needs.

I really enjoyed my service experience at Sira. All of the stylist here does, hair to a perfection. I was styled by Bianca. She did such a great job and I’m not saying that because she’s my sister.
All of the products used are natural and organic. I really appreciate the concept that Nicole the owner has for her shop.
Lastly, the environment of the shop is CLEAN and relaxed. You must meet Nicole’s sister Gi Gi. She has a beautiful spirit and she provides the service for braids and etc. .

The place is clean and the beauticians are nice but prices are extreme. 100 bucks for a hair cut/​trim, wash, blow dry, and condition and that was with the Unilocal coupon. My hair turned out ok. I can do better myself.

Good environment, professional, and they do great hair! This is around the corner from where I live so after reading Unilocal reviews I decided to give it a try. The shop is clean, welcoming, and the staff made me feel comfortable and pampered. Bianca did my hair and it came out awesome!!! And I am VERY critical about my hair ladies, LOL! I have gotten so many compliments and my girlfriends kept asking all night where I got my hair done. Keep up the great work Sira Salon! I’m glad I finally found somewhere close to home.

Short version: I LOVE the cut and color I received from Nicky. She’s EXTREMELY knowledgeable about hair and I won’t go anywhere else but to her from now on. Try her. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Long version: I am so happy to have found Sira Salon, and more specifically, Nicky. I am of mixed race and have fine, curly hair. I’ve tried «upscale» salons in downtown Chicago, trendy salons in Lincoln Park and, of course, the «Egyptians.» While some places were definitely better than others, I have never, NEVER walked out of any of them feeling completely satisfied.
I’ve had long curly hair my entire life but have always wanted a short cut — like bob or even pixie short. However, I was so nervous to leave such a drastic change in the hands of someone I didn’t trust so I just kept putting it off and putting it off. Finally a Unilocal search pointed me to Sira Salon.
I stopped in after work one Friday and spoke with Nicky. Right away she came across as extremely knowledgeable about hair. She helped me narrow down the exact style I wanted (because I was all over the place) and was honest about what would and wouldn’t work with my hair texture, face shape, etc. I booked an appt. for a week later.
I was surprised at how calm I was when my appointment day came. Even throughout the entire process of Nicky coloring and cutting my hair I felt completely comfortable, which I attribute to just how much she seemed to know about hairdressing. She even gave my sister DETAILED advise on products to use to add more body and life to her hair — all without missing a beat on my highlights.
At the end of the process I couldn’t believe how beautiful my hair looked. The highlights were perfectly placed, the color was gorgeous and my cut was EXACTLY what I pictured in my head all those times I had imagined myself with short hair. I was so excited I even hugged Nicky and my sister booked an appt. for herself for a couple of weeks later!
I’ll never go back to long hair again and as long as Nicky stays in Chicago (Oak Park), she’ll always have a customer in me.
Also, Latriece, who washed my hair, was the sweetest! She even gave me a nice little head massage which felt like heaven on Friday after a long week. This place is the best. Can’t say enough good things.

I too am so happy that I listened to the Unilocalers and gave this place a try. I’m transitioning/​unsure of what I want to do. Nicole was so helpful and patient. She is very knowledgeable and perfection is her only option. She had me fill out a form about my hair and my habits and sat down and discussed it with me. THEN she looked at my hair. I was very impressed. Your hair is apart of YOU, if the stylist doesn’t know YOU then how can you know what to do and how to treat MY hair. I left the shop with the bomb hair cut, that 2 days later, I’m still receiving compliments on. The staff is all friendly and helpful as well. Sometimes stylists tend to focus only on their clients. Not here. Other stylists noticed I wasn’t fully under the dryer and made the adjustment. Team work! I’m definitely looking forward to my next appointment.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! So glad I listened to the fellow Unilocalers! Ive been going to the same hair lady for 15 years and my hair was looking a hot mess! Made an appointment with Tiffany and my hair has never looked so beautiful! Im not even going to say how long I let it last before making another appointment… but it lasted a LONG time!
Its a nice small little salon in Oak Park. There is street parking, but get there a bit early to find some! They accept cards for paying but you need to pay in cash for a tip! Love their products. My hair was so soft and silky and just looked great! Tiffany is amazing and you can tell she enjoys what she does and really asked a lot of questions to make sure she was providing me with great service.
Great salon, can’t wait to get my hair done again and look amazing!

I Love going to Sira Salon because it’s a very upscale & compfortable enviornment you will leave this salon feeling like a diva! Nicky is very up close and personal with each client she is the best in hair weaves for all nationalities she uses very good products and gives you literature to read up on them as well you can relax there enjoy a nice glass of wine from her personal butler dontrell who is always welcoming to each client while nicky is creating stylz I highly recommend this salon for all nationalities for whatever hair care needs that you are you are seeking don’t go downtown and spend alot of money on your weave or hair style and come out looking like you just woke up go to sira salon in oak park and relax and enjoy your personal time with nicky stylz
