If there is anything in parenting more difficult and draining than dealing with a child’s mental health issues, I don’t know what it is. Physical health matters are awful, too, but when those crop up there is usually a treatment and a cure. Psychiatric disorders take a lot more trial and error to handle, and the errors can leave scars that no one can see. That’s why after much deliberation, I’m honoring Dr. Marc Sandrolini with my 300th review. He has the smarts, patience and humor to deal with our recalcitrant teenager who would rather be anywhere else in the world than in his office. He figured out which medications would actually help our kid, whose condition does not have a name like ADD, bi-polar disorder, etc. to pin on it. I sometimes say he takes a little bit from everything at the Mishugener Buffet. There have been many improvements in the boy’s mind and mood, but there are still miles to go before we sleep. I am very glad we have Dr. Sandrolini with us on this challenging journey.
