Vegan Lasagna all the way! It’s the best. Started with the carrot and ginger soup. to die for. Coconut and lime cake… dense, dry but good flavor Service excellent. Hot day and AC is eh. I can’t way to return!

Coconut chip pancakes(with added pecans and bananas) are what healthy dreams are made of. Popped in for brunch with my friend who is gaga over their veg burgers. I needed sweet, she needed salty so we ordered both and split them both in half. While we did have to wait a bit for a table, to get our order and for the food, it’s understandable. This is a small establishment, not McD’s so I get it. The pancakes did have a bit of a dry, «healthy» taste to it but damn, they were still . The veggie burger was ok with the addedd guac and cheese, but not my #1. The patty wasn’t as exciting as others. Prices are on par for the area. I’d come back to try a more exciting veggie item. I prefer ordering complicated veggie dishes I can’t possibly make at home, so I hope there’s something better to look forward to the next time. 3.5

«Chicken» Wrap: pretty bland and unfulfilling. I would not order again. Mashed Sweet Potatoes: You can definitely taste the banana which is an odd pairing in my opinion. I ate a few bites but would choose a different side if I ever revisit. Vegan Nachos: WINNER! Can be shared with two or more people or enough for one person as a meal. Very tasty, especially the tomatillo salsa. I would opt out of the vegan cheese next time. It doesn’t melt and is frankly overly processed. You won’t miss it. Vegan Cheescake: Not a fan and had weird texture/consistency. I didn’t finish. Overall, pretty good service and nachos. Wrap was disappointing but not as bad as the cheesecake. I would prefer a meal at Native Foods or other great vegan restaurants around the city.

We had an amazing late afternoon lunch today! We had the«chicken» burrito, the tostadas and the stuffed peppers as well as the side kale salad with beets. Everything was so delicious and fresh. The tostada was crunchy and covered in taco«meat» tomatoes, black beans corn and fresh avocado slices with a side salsa and manchego«cheese», the burrito was stuffed and delicious and the stuffed peppers with black beans and veggies and covered in marinara melted in your mouth! The kale salad with beets, tomatoes, shredded carrots and an orange balsamic dressing was light and delicious. Also enjoyed a non dairy strawberry and also a Choco chip mint shake. Both were super yummy! What an amazing meal. We will be back to try the other tantalizing dishes that we had to pass up. The place is cute inside, we enjoyed the seating out front and watched Oak Park walk by. We met the owner too she is super nice and very well versed in all things vegan. Thank for a great experience. See you soon!

I was feeling like being extra healthy today, so I stopped by for lunch to try the black bean burger everyone is raving about. I don’t normally eat vegetarian, btw. Now this black bean patty was huge! I added avocado and cheese to it, as well. The avocado portion was generous. I managed to finish the entire thing(minus the huge bun), however, it was hard for me to get over the soft and mushy texture of the patty. The sauteed greens I had on the side were delicious and the portion size was also large. Unfortunately, I was still a little hungry afterwards and decided to get a cupcake across the street… and also ate some chips an hour later.

Simply delicious. Stopped in on a whim with my husband and little guy. My husband gave me the eyes when he saw that there was no meat(he eats meat, I don’t…I picked!) I had the special burger which had all kinds of beans, beets and a wonderful sauce. We both also really enjoyed the hummus to start. My little guy devoured the little goji berry and chia seed bar that they had up front while we waited on our food. Was also very happy that they had organic milk for him! I took a cashew cream cheesecake to go – very tasty and hard to find in Chicago. Overall, very pleased. I will be back.

Always on the hunt for a tasty veggie restaurant. This is a cute little place in Cute Oak Park. There are a lot of lunch and brunch choices at noon on a Saturday and I had a difficult time choosing. I went with the El Munch Breakfast burrito and my companion got the Comfort Breakfast. Bridgeport coffee is nice and strong and fresh, good start. They make an effort to have locally sourced food here, another plus. The combo of red quinoa, tofu scramble, avocados, black beans and veggies in a whole wheat wrap is delicious! My companion did not like his at all, though I did. The comfort breakfast comes with herbed roasted potatoes, tofu and veggie scramble, sausage, and toast. In fairness, he is not a fan of veggie food. They were very gracious in switching his plate for another selection. He opted for the Tropikale smoothie with mango, kale, banana, almond milk. Success!

I’ve eaten at Munch at least five times since 2012, and liked it. It’s especially nice to have a restaurant in the village where I can bring friends who are vegetarians. The dining room is cozy and fills up during the weekday lunch hour.

Munch is a really neat vegetarian friendly place in Oak Park. If you want to try something different, tasty, and super healthy, stop by here! But, only bring a friend or two. The inside is small and cramped and is best for a party of two. I came here with my cousin, and we both really enjoyed our entrees. She got the tostadas which were loaded with fresh healthy stuff like corn, tomatoes, and black beans, and it had a marinated seitan with it. The two tostadas were about $ 15. I got a Mexican soup($ 12), as I was looking for something a bit lighter. It came with a kale salad which was served first. The salad was pretty much JUST kale, with one small Roma tomato slice and a few carrot slivers. I’m not sure if it had dressing or lemon juice, but it was barely anything. Kale is super healthy, but I felt like a brontosaurus eating leaves. I also tried the vegan brownie. The thing wasn’t bad tasting, but it crumbled apart. You could definitely taste the loads of sugar, and even though it was vegan, it was not healthy! The place is overall expensive! For what I got, I don’t feel like it was good value, although it was good food. I’m not sure I’d go back, but Munch is a fun place to try!

A wonderful selection of gluten-free items. And everything is vegetarian or vegan. I love that!!! We had the homemade tomato basil soup and a in-house made black bean burger. The soup was one of the best tomato soups I have ever had. It was rich, filling, and a little spicy. The style of the soup was creamy purée with nice sized pieces of basil. So lovely! The black bean burger was amazing. We opted for the gluten-free bun($ 2.50 upcharge). It came with a choice of side dishes. The mashed sweet potatoes are a great accompaniment. The service was amazing and the décor is fresh and quirky(see my photo of the light fixtures).

I should start by saying that I do think the food here is good, which is why it is hard to write this review. I recently went into Munch during Thursday Night Out because I forgot food for my 7 month old. Of all of the restaurants nearby I knew Munch would have something that I could give her without a bunch of added foods. I asked the waitress if they had anything I could feed my 7 month old, specifically a steamed fruit or veggie. She said they had a sweet potato and banana mash, which I of course thought was perfect. I asked her if there was anything besides those two ingredients and she assured me there was not. I then proceed to ask the cashier the same question and she asked the person standing behind her, all three assured me there was ONLY sweet potato and banana. I tasted the food and it was delish, but pretty sweet, so I went back in and asked AGAIN what was in it, same response. Mommy instincts took over the day after and I called back to check the ingredients because they just tasted too good to be true. Low and behold the woman on the phone told me there was HONEY in the mixture! If you have kids, you know that honey is a MAJOR no no for babies under 1 because of the risk of bochelisim. I am now LIVID and having massive mommy guilt for not bringing my own food in the first place. I left my name and number so the owner could contact me. I called the pediatrician and waited. Munch calls back(the same woman I spoke to earlier) to let me know that there actually is no honey in the recipe, but there is coconut milk and brown sugar, two things I definately have not or would not have introduced to my 7 month old. At least it’s not honey, but the owner didnt even bother to call back and apologize. Sorry Munch, you just lost a very loyal customer!

The chocolate shake was really good! My son did not like the chocolate milk and probably because it was made with skim milk. The chorizo nachos where ok. The guacamole on top needed more flavor. Maybe more salt or lime. Not enough meat or cheese. I also ordered the kalamata pizza pita. It was a bit salty as the waitress told us, but it was good. This place is cash only and they have a small ATM inside with a 1 dollar charge, which I don’t think is that bad. I just think its a bit inconvenient to have to go the ATM since I rarely cary cash.

This is a 3 and half review. Customer service was good my issue is with their food. Unlike many of the other reviews I don’t agree with the cash issue. Yes, they only take cash and that is more than ok and acceptable. However this vegetarian restaurant lacks of many ingredients including in this kind of diet; for example seitan! That is a big item missing here and it’s a main item in any vegetarian diet. Also, whole grain bread and pasta. Those are basics of any vegetarian diet. The bread here is from white flour as well as their pasta. I think they have to invest in better quality products. We had high expectations going here and it wasn’t what we hoped for. BTW, we had the lasagna(I wish it was with seitan, I am tired of the tofu obsession everywhere) and the black bean burger.

One of the few places that accommodates vegetarian, gluten allergies, and dairy and egg free diets, so I can eat here with my dad and step-mom happily, which we did after we visited the Frank Lloyd Wright home locally in Oak Park. My step-mom and I both had the Groovy Plate and loved it. I think the marinated tofu was the best I’ve ever had! The salad and quinoa were decent, but not very flavorful, but the mashed sweet potatoes were delicious. My dad had the black bean burger and loved it, particularly the gluten-free pita bread that he requested with it — usually gluten free pitas aren’t the best. The service was excellent, and I enjoyed the funky, modern-hippy vibe of the décor. The restaurant is small, but with big open windows so it doesn’t seem super small. The only things that knocked it down from five-star status were the mediocre kale salad and quinoa, and the peanut-butter-chocolate vegan shake — it was good, but I’ve made better ones myself as well as had better elsewhere, so I wasn’t super impressed. I would definitely come back though when in the area.
