I was experiencing severe hip and knee pain and asked for doctor recommendations; based on extremely positive feedback about Dr. Brett Levine, I made an appointment at Midwest Orthopedics. When asked if I wanted to see his PA or Dr. Levine himself, I opted for the doctor, since I had heard so many great things about him from current patients. WHAT A TOTALDISAPPOINTMENT and waste of time. The staff took x-rays, then ushered me into an exam room with a PA who looked like she was just out of school. I explained my symptoms and based on my x-rays, was given a broadly generic diagnosis, some pamphlets and a prescription for anti-inflammatory drugs. When I expressed my concerns about the severe knee pain that was waking me up at night and required narcotic painkillers, I was told to «try the exercises and anti-inflammatories(which oh, BTW, take about 4 – 5 weeks to kick in), if that doesn’t work we can try some formal PT.» Not only was I not impressed with the PA at all, I was extremely chagrined that I didn’t even get the courtesy of a brief«head nod» from Dr. Levine, who is the main reason I went to Rush. Since I expressly asked to see Dr. Levine and waited about 4 – 6 weeks for an appointment, I asked at the front desk why I wasn’t allowed to see the doctor and was told«sorry, honey, I really don’t know.» I guess after my x-rays were reviewed, it was determined that my knees weren’t bad enough to warrant expensive knee surgery and so I wasn’t «worthy enough» to see the doctor. UPDATE: I was told by my pharmacist that the anti-inflammatory prescription that had been written for me at Midwest Orthopedics required«doctor authorization» and coordination with my insurance company. When I called the office to check the status of the prescription, I was told that«the prescription was not approved» and that I should«contact my GP» to see if she would write a scrip for me. Seriously, another 10 days in pain and this is the best service I could get from Midwest Orthopedics? Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back to this place again.

Dr. Anthony Romeo & his awesome team of PA’s work hard to make sure you feel like a rockstar even if you don’t make six figures a year! He is affiliated with Rush hospital & although it may take some time to get in to see him, he is well worth the wait!
