When this shop first opened up, it had far more unusual and lovely items. Now it has mostly typical over priced knickknacks. With this change, I have also noticed rather unpleasant and snobby salespeople are working there. Example: When the salesperson today shoved the gift certificate I purchased towards me on the counter, there was no thank you or smile, but«there.» I really don’t feel like shopping there, ever.

I tried to stop into the shop this evening to purchase a desparately needed hostess gift. I hurried to get there and arrived 10 minutes before closing, only to be told they had shut down and were closed for the day. If Bramble does not make it in today’s economy, it will not suprise me. I would ensure that ANY and EVERY customer that wanted to buy would be allowed to do so even AFTER hours, let alone during. I wont ever shop here again, nor will anyone that I am able to speak to.

Great gifts– but often seems sparse.

My husband often qualifies things as «JNDs» or «Just Noticeable Differences». He has also accused me of having the particular skill of «making things beautiful»(thanks, babe!). Bramble is a little shop chock-full of JND-quality items to help people like me make things beautiful. To me, lighting and scents are the JNDs of a home. You can have a house filled with IKEA and Target furnishings and have it «feel» rich with good lighting and olfactory stimulation. Bramble is THE place for pretty, stinky things: candles, room spray, small-batch perfume, linen scents, bath salts, etc. They also offer a large selection of artisan-quality linens, curios, art and gifts of all kinds. Last year we moved just a few blocks away from Bramble. Many times have I wandered the shop lustfully touching and smelling all their pricey luxury JNDs that I longed-for but can’t afford to justify buying for myself. Last Christmas my father gave me a gift-certificate for this local store. In the mayhem that was situating my house after the move(not to mention all the construction, which is barely done) I managed to lose the GC. I wandered into the store recently, explained the situation and asked if they kept a record of such things. They do and promptly re-issued me the lost G.C. And THIS sort of service is the JND of a local business: personal service. I like Bramble’s stuff, but I LOVE this level of kindness, customer service and accommodation from ANY business. It makes me feel great about patronizing this store again and again. It feels like fall now and, to me, that means scented candles and a nice glass of wine. Thanks to Bramble, I get to get my fall-on tonight! I also found several great ideas for Christmas gifts this year, including a gorgeous, portable table-top purse hook. I got one for myself… thanks Dad!
