I try not to do all of my grocery shopping here, as it is pricier than other grocery stores. But whenever I need to grab a couple items quickly, this place is my go-to. It is clean, well organized, and always has PLENTY of staff working and helping customers. Great job to a Jewel that is very well run.

If this review was for the pharmacy alone, I would give 5⁄5. The pharmacy staff is amazing and have great customer service. Any pharmacist that I have encountered there takes the time to explain medications and answer questions. However, the rest of the store does not put the same amount of effort as the pharmacy department. I have stopped doing my regular grocery shopping here because of the small selection of fresh produce and meat. Like others have commented, I do not like that they removed the self check outs.

I love that jewel has fresh fruit cut. It is the reason I go there. It saves a lot of time for me. I wish they made a mixed berry bowl and not just the cup. I don’t like that they are getting rid of self check out.

Ya know, I have been shopping at ‘Jewel’ stores for as long as I can remember. Hell, what kid growing up in Chicago didn’t pronounce it «Jewels»? Well, I didnt, but that’s only because my mother is a grammar Nazi; I digress. I came here a few days before Easter to get my holiday goodies only to discover a filthy store not only shamelessly low on stock, but shelves displaying perished & aged produce. Clearly strawberries come here to die. Several freezer doors were blocked by inventory. Ugh! I asked a stock boy for help and he replied with a, «Maybe check isle 8.» Another employee just shrugged and said, «I’m not really sure. You can check by the deli area.» What the Hell? Know your stock. Show some initiative! There was nary a customer in the joint. Both the Mt. Greenwood ‘Jewel’ on 103rd& the FABULOUS ‘Jewel’ in Merrionette Park have employees that will LEAD you to an item… even when they are hustling with other tasks. The ‘Supa Dupa Jewel’ in Merrionette is spotless and even has a Starbucks! I implore you to support the other local ‘Jewel’ stores, but this location is a disgrace to their grocery legacy. I ended up having to go shopping again the following day elsewhere. This ship is sinking fast so either get it together or plant a ‘Trader Joe’s’ here; they’ve got good snacks and house wine!

I am so disappointed in my shopping experience. I rarely shop at Jewel but because the local Dominick’s locations have closed I didn’t have many options. Next time I’ll do without. The carts were all wet because it was raining. Most stores don’t dry their carts so I wouldn’t normally hit them for this. I had a question for the butcher and he rolled his eyes because I stopped him from some paperwork he was doing. Nothing like making the customer feel like they are an inconvenience. While I was in the soda/water aisle there was an employee replacing shelf price tags. When I said excuse me so they could let me pass I was ignored. I said excuse me again but louder. Again, ignored. Finally I had to walk over and move their work cart from the middle of the aisle so I could pass. At the checkout there were just a couple lines open and the lines were long so I decided to use the self checkout. While scanning my cases of bottled water the system scanned it three times but I only had two. It took five minutes to get an associate to assist and then she blamed my lack of register skills for the error and then took forever fining a manager swipe card to remove the extra product. Either the management treats their employees poorly and they are disgruntled because of that or I just managed to get all the incompetent ones this afternoon. Either way I’m completely frustrated.

I recently had a less then desirable experience while doing self check out at this store. It’s a Monday night and although the store was busy it was not intolerable. I had milk, bananas and a few other things. My particular check out booth kept telling me to wait for assistance. I did wait and then it became annoying that the cashier delegated to these particular lanes seemed annoyed to be there. Perhaps it was too busy for her I don’t know. I became annoyed that I have asked for assistant but was blatantly ignored. I ended up just walking out without my items. I called the store manager to tell him just how upset I was with my experience. He was VERY nice and apologetic. He said he understood my frustration and told me he would happily bring my milk as that was the most important item on my list for my children. I was resistant at first as that was not his mistake to correct, it was the shuffley feet cashier. The manager brought my milk right over to my house within a matter of 5 minutes. He ended up going above and beyond his customer service needs and I am VERY thankful and look forward to shopping there as I always do. The store is always stocked and very clean. I’ve seen him on several occasions on the floor interacting with workers and working well with them. Team work and superb customer service seems to be this store managers MO. Big thank you to him for over correcting my problem.

Always helpful staff, and when you checkout make sure and look for Pearlie, she is by far the fastest checkout in the store. The only thing I might hold off on buying from here is the seafood, sometimes it looks a little blah.
