Had a great breakfast, everything seems fresh! Hostess was real friendly and consistent. Had a good experience for me and my daughter on our first time there!

My brother, his girlfriend, and I went to Flap-Jacks for a Saturday afternoon brunch. I wasn’t feeling breakfast so I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a cup of soup and fruit, my brother and his girlfriend ordered breakfast. We were seated right away and loved the fact that the restaurant was not completely smashed together and crowded like a lot of local breakfast restaurants. Our waitress was great. She was very friendly, personable, and even had asked me if I’d like additional seasonings for my sandwich. The cup of soup came quickly and the food came even quicker! Before I was completely finished with the soup the food had arrived, it was hot and you could tell it was just prepared. Everything was delicious, and they weren’t in any rush to get us out the door like it feels sometimes and some restaurants. We’ve found our new breakfast place.

Second time going there was a disaster. It just opened up and word got out on the street so it was packed. My boyfriend and I tried our best to be patient though. As we got seated, we got an extremely rude waitress. She just sat us down and left, didn’t ask for our drinks or anything. When she came back, she dropped off coffee cream. But we didn’t even have coffee. Few minutes later, she came back with more coffee cream! We thought it was hilarious how we just had 3 bowls of coffee creamer, believing we should be drinking that since she didn’t take our order. Finally, a nice waitress(wasn’t even ours) decided to take our order & drinks. I ordered crepes, not the best, pretty bland, and certainly not good proportions for the price. My boyfriend agreed the menu was pricey but kept an open mind thinking the proportions would be big. They were not. I caught glances of our original waitress as I tried to get her attention to bring condiments… She just passed right by me while staring at me. I couldn’t help but laugh. So once we were done, we told the ladies at the front desk that our waitress was rude, we didn’t want to tip her, but we tipped the other one that took our order.

Came here for breakfast Saturday morning, we were seated very quickly. Had coffee, banana nut french toast and eggs florentine with spinach. Food was tasty, service was quick, and place was clean. Perfer this to «crack a can of pie filling open» Stacked; you can tell they freshly cook the toppings.

Came here on a recent Saturday after my mom had an eye appointment. We were both hungry and wanted somewhere close by. Since I had wanted to try this place out, we decided to stop. I walked in and was impressed with what they did to the space(since I had been here once awhile back when Top Notch had a restaurant here). It wasn’t exactly cozy but still not a bad space to have a bite to eat. After looking at their extensive menu I decided on a build your own skillet Scrambled with ham, mushrooms, and monterey jack cheese) with pancakes and my mom had a turkey club with chicken noodle soup. The skillet was tasty with just the right mix of ingredients. The pancakes were also tasty(and they served it with warm syrup… yum!). My mom said her turkey club hit the spot but the soup reminded her more of an egg drop soup versus a chicken noodle. All in all a good experience, albeit a bit pricey. I’d love to get back here sometime to try their french toast or an all pancake kind of breakfast.

There is nothing special about this restaurant, food is ok and service is ok as well. I would only go back if there if I had no choice and I was stuck going there again.

My boyfriend and I had breakfast here about 30 minutes ago and had a terrible experience. Everything was fine until the waitress came to check on us, she asked if we needed anything else and I said«no, thank you» she dropped the check, grabbed both our plates and tossed our food in the trash. I was stunned at how fast it happened and by the time I got her attention to tell her we weren’t done with the food on the plates it was too late. I mentioned it to the girl working the front register and still paid full price for my meals. Very disappointing.

The service is poor. Female manager here is rude. I checked in and she tells me to «just go sit down over there» and waves me off. Even my kids noticed. Waitress seems rushed. Waffle coming apart and sticky? Strawberries were dried out and looked filthy. The rude manager comes to the table because i mentioned how dirty my strawberries look and she pleasantly asks can she replace my strawberries… umh not after I’ve eaten. How do you replace strawberries when the waffle they came with is gone. I have been a devoted customer for 10 years. The atmosphere is nothing like it was on 111th. The food is downgraded and so is the service. I was shocked to hear the same owners were in place… i posted my dirty strawberry in whip cream photo. I ask the same manager to credit the price difference between classic waffles and strawberry whip cream and shevsays«i offered to replace them!» She goes away to get it approved with no communication and returns with a credit. She never acknowledges me, or explains the credit. She hands the updated bill to the cashier and walks away. I hate to end my love affair with Flapjacks but poor service from start to finish from leadership speaks volumes. I couldn’t wait for them to reopen

I understand policy, but when you find a hair in your omelette and your server doesn’t even offer you a replacement it’s like being spit in the face when the manager offers no compensation. We went to this place on occasion because Stacked down the street had longer wait times(rightfully so). For the service Flapjacks offers I’d rather go elsewhere and wait. A lot of the waitresses look dirty(like they smoke a lot) and one especially looks(and acts) like a drug addict. Takes forever to get a coffee refill and they forget half the things you order. Overall a bad choice for a nice breakfast.

Ok, my favorite meal of the day is breakfast!!! However, this was disappointing at best. Ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs. It was at best 6−8oz no flavor, with two poached eggs and Hollandaise Sauce out of a can. For me canned Hollandaise should be banned from the shelf!!! If you run a breakfast place no matter how busy you are make the Hollandaise from scratch please!!! It’s not that hard!!! The grits had no flavor and were soupy and the flap jacks were tough!!! Wowww at a place called Flap-Jacks!!! Help!!!

Went to try this place out because I wasn’t interested in waiting in the long lines at another place. So I checked of course my trusty Unilocal ratings and they didn’t let me down. Thank you all who write reviews. I love it. This is definitely going to be my new place for breakfast. Went there on Saturday morning. Place has great parking, great service and not to mention awesome food. Service was excellent and efficient. They got my order right the first time since I usually have a special order on how I like my eggs. I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely loved my food. Would definitely recommend this place over and over again. Thanks for your reviews everyone.

The breakfast here in my opinion is just ok, it could be a lot better. I’ve tasted their skillets and their omelettes and they needed more seasoning. The pancakes are thin and like grainy(they don’t taste nice and buttery like at other restaurants). I think Corner Bakery has way better pancakes. I’ve tasted the soup too, it’s ok, it needed more seasoning in my opinion. The waitresses are very nice but it seems like they have way too many tables that it sometimes affects their service.

Love this place. Service is always really good and they have the best pancakes ever! For something as simple as pancakes they sure are good. I have also had a few of their skillets. Very good. If you decided on something other than pancakes I recommend getting a side of it.

Today I stopped in at Flap Jacks. This place is open for both breakfast and lunch. When you walk in there is a hostess station and one of the first things you notice is that this place has huge floor space(there used to be a Top Notch burger here). This is both good and bad. Yes, there is plenty of room and they can squeeze in a ton of tables. It is also overly open and makes you feel like you’re in a cafeteria. So open in fact that the room actually echos and I can hear the conversations of people across the room. Upon entering I was seated right away. The hostess and the waitress were very friendly. For breakfeast I ordered the brocolli and cheese omelette with hashbrowns and pancakes. I also ordered a skirt steak skillet, eggs over easy, and pancakes. The taste of the omelette was just ok. It contained plenty of broccoli, the cheese was barely detectable and most unfortunately it was over cooked to where eggs were releasing their water… As for the skillet, my reaction was about the same. In this case the eggs tasted fine, but the skirt steak with bell pepper and onions were less than good. First of all, for the amount they charged, there was only about an ounce of meat, second, it tasted like there was absolutely no seasoning and the meat had a hint of sourness. The hashbrowns were fine, crisped ok and still soft. Tasted kind of familiar, so I think they’re a frozen brand. Either way, they were fine. The pancakes themselves were decent. They were cooked fine, not overdone. They were good average pancakes. All in all, this meal had its good and bad points(more bad than good). If I was to order breakfast here again I would get pancakes and skip the eggs. I will stop in again to give them one more shot, this time maybe i’ll try their lunch(hopefully better). Todays meal cost about $ 27.90. Not great at all for«ok» food. There are plenty of cheaper places locally.

Great Service with a SMILE! I am not a huge breakfast eater, but Flap Jacks was nice The food was good and quick. But of course it’s Wednesday morning. I think it’s good to have breakfast restaurant options such as Flap Jacks. I’m definitely going back with the kids.

My parents love this place but I wasn’t crazy about it after coming here for breakfast this morning. I had an American cheese omelet which seems like it’s good where ever you go. First few bites were great, then I crunched into a giant egg shell. Ugh. It totally grossed me out. I wanted the rest of my omelet but just couldn’t eat anymore after that. Rest of the meal was good. Hashbrowns were good and the waitress was nice. Next time I’ll get pancakes. UPDATE: I came back here with my mom and got the stuffed cinnamon apple French toast and it was amazing. Don’t waste your time with the crunchy eggs, get the French toast.

Had an incredible breakfast after leaving Midway Airport and needing a bite. Never expected such an amazing experience in this corner shop! A fantastic breakfast menu covering a multitude of pancake favors, Swedish pancakes, waffles, crepes and even blintzes! We tried the banana and Nutella crepes, cheese blintzes w/cherry sauce, and regular pancakes and eggs with a side of bacon AND kielbasa cooked on the griddle! Mmmmm!!! I was too hungry to take pics, but trust me-it was the BEST! Just what we needed after such an early morning flight… now I won’t complain about the Morning flights anymore because I know how to plan for it!

Overall, Flap-jacks did well. The service was good. Our waitress was a real charmer. The coffee was adequate and the food was good – but not quiet great. Cascio felt his skillet was OK but lacked a significant spread of cheese. Wizard Bear Rick thought his bacon waffles could have tasted«more bacony.» He admitted that he had a touch of buyer’s remorse similar to what Frank had last outing. Like me, the Wizard prefers his breakfasts more on the savory side. Going down sugar lane can sometimes yield less than impressive results, especially when you’re more of an egg and cheese kind of guy. Regardless of that, I liked my french toast and my kielbasa even though I can never, ever see myself ordering a french toast and kielbasa combination ever again. I felt the french toast was good – maybe a bit too much on the decadent side. If you’re into sweet breakfasts, I would recommend it. Mean Tom, who would like to add more detailed testament of his experience than he has in previous blogs, thought this was an average breakfast. He thought his eggs were cooked well, his kielbasa was OK(he didn’t eat much of it), and his chocolate chip pancakes were delicious. Taken all into consideration, the new Flap-jacks in Oak Lawn gets a recommended rating of 3 snowy Brent faces.

Where to start… we’ve been sitting here for almost 30 minutes and my husband had to ask for them to bring the soup that is supposed to come with his meal. We both ordered iced tea which is so bad we’re opting to drink the water. Something was spilled and whatever they used to clean smells like cat urine, the smell is getting stronger instead of fading. We are near the the register and the last 3 customers have complained about their food and service. I ordered hash and my hubby ordered a burger; my guess is they had to kill the cow and dig up the potatoes. There is literally no food coming out of the kitchen. Once food came things didn’t get anymore exiting. All the food is from a can or from frozen. We ate a bit and decided we’ll just snack later. This is not somewhere we will ever return.
