Cliffside Park, NAS Whidbey Island

Beautiful, new RV park with really clean bathrooms. New laundry room. Scenery is amazing. You can walk on the beach for miles! Not much open on the base over the weekend.

This is a very nice, clean, and friendly campground. We rented the trailers (2 adults and 3 little kids) and were quite comfortable. Plenty warm and dry and some terrific views out into the sounds. We enjoyed the ‘fitness trail’, the beach’, the bowling alley, and the campground. Host and staff were very friendly. There isn’t a commissary, but they’ll give you directions to the seaplane base which has the commissary and the NEX. There is a gas station/​auto repair on base. Very close to Deception Pass. Military can use the pool in Oak Harbor for free… retirees get a reduced rate.

I couldn’t find a review for the Whidbey Scenic Isle Way, so I’m using this platform as the best representative of my experience. The Whidbey Scenic Isle Way is a nice stop to take pictures of the shoreline just past Fort Casey State Park. People were fishing and even scuba diving while I was walking around. The whole coastline is refreshing and a great way to put things in perspective. I enjoyed being there.

Home away from home… The Navy was really thinking of families when they refinished this fam camp on Whidbey Island. The sites are roomy and paved; best of all they are overlookimg the beach! There are some toys for kids, marsh mallow roasting sticks at the fire rings, even a dog wash for after the walk on the beach! Take a walk or. run on the base beach trail, walk the beach or go over to the gym. Stay i your camper, tent, or rent ayurt or trailer from the base.
Our visit was at the en of June and it never seemed to warm up or stop raining for long, but this is a terrific camp to stay at while you visit the San Juans.
