Rustic Oaks Apartments

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!
My boyfriend and I were all set to move in to Rustic Oaks this past Saturday, December 13. Upon arrival at the leasing office, we were met with a number of «unfinished tasks» that needed to be completed before we could move in. For instance, they needed a photo of our dog, verification of our electric switched over, payment in the form of a money order… Of course none of this would have been an issue had someone communicated with us prior to 10 AM on move-​in day. The representative’s excuse was that she «just didn’t have time to call during the week.» I understand people are busy and things fall by the wayside, but it was extremely aggravating to try and deal with someone who clearly doesn’t value the time of her future tenants.
As if that wasn’t enough, our lease was riddled with errors. The rent was listed wrong, the security deposit was written wrong, things were crossed out and scribbled over… It was completely unprofessional and obvious that it wasn’t checked before printing for us to sign. Needless to say, we backed out of the lease.
I called this morning to inform them of our decision, and to request our $ 200 reservation fee be refunded. Much to my surprise, I was informed that the reservation fee is NON-​REFUNDABLE after 72 hours. This is news to me, as no one informed us of this upon payment!
Totally unprofessional. I hope it’s just the woman we had to deal with, and not Rustic Oaks as a whole. I highly suggest that if «Theresa» is your leasing agent, you run the other way or ask for someone new. Too much frustration!
UPDATE: The property manager just personally contacted me to apologize. She was very genuine and I truly appreciate her reaching out to make things right. She definitely sounded like a woman who has things together and runs a good business with good customer service. She was very apologetic and sincere and I appreciate it endlessly!
