For years I’ve driven by in the summertime in awe of the long lines. I had heard so many good things about the deliciousness you have to offer. Oh Jack Frost… kind of a $ 5 let down. Ordered the small Twix Blitz and as you can see it wasn’t filled to the top as everyone else’s was. The candy pieces were mostly at the top and not really mixed throughout like your very popular competitor’s. It was like having vanilla soft serve in a cup once I got past the top layer. Not very impressed.

Too expensive! The products are nothing special, but it has become kind of a local tradition.

This has been my favorite ice cream place ever since I was little. The ice cream is amazing and the staff is always so friendly!

This place is great when more traditional ice cream choices are what you crave. Jack Frost is not your average baskin Robbins served via Dunkin donuts, this is feel good, classic family packed into the car, take a date to enjoy, pure Americana type of ice cream. Everything is available, from our favorite chocolate covered bananas to malts, and soft serves. It’s got great people running a great place. The service is quick because the lines can get long, a must stop weekly during the summer months.

Jack Frost has never let me down. I’ll admit that there’s not much variety, but it’s worth checking out if you’re in the Oak Forest area and have an ice cream craving. It gets super busy in the evening, but it’s worth the brief wait.

Great place to go midday. But watch out after ball games this place gets packed. I love DQ blizzards and Jack Frost offers Blitz the same concept but Jack Frost can add in malt powder. Yummmmmm

I have lived in Oak Forest 42 years and as far as I remember Jack Frost has been an institution. My kids love going there and the service is always top notch. I ordered a blizzard/blitz type treat last time though and was a little disappointed in the lack of ingredients. I still love this place. I just stick to cones and popsicles.

Local soft serve ice cream place that’s been around for years. They are usually pretty busy. The service is fast and friendly. I do like their crunch coat dip. Variety of items on the menu.

How can you not check out a place named after Jack Frost? I am imagining the coy little elf depicted in the Little House books and him nipping at my toes. When we drive up, it’s even niftier — it is a chalet with a mystery upstairs. I was undecided before we came here, do I want coffee or do I want ice cream? Perfect solution — they have a coffee cooler with ice cream, coffee and chocolate. It is a delicious chocolately coffee milk shake. It’s two treats in one! I can imagine us returning this summer for what are summer nights if not invitations to hit the road in search of a frozen treat? And, just in case you didn’t know, I am pretty sure that every mile you drive deducts 25 calories from whatever Jack Frosty indulgence you select. Truth.

Such a small place with a HUGE taste. The snickers sundae was plenty good. Perhaps the owners were working today because they appeared to have that vibe. This is a simple review of my appreciation for a small business slanging delicious desserts. Way to go Jack Frost you won me over!

Jack Frost is great. I think it’s gotten a bit more expensive over the past few years but it’s still one of the best spots in Oak Forest. The kids love it. I mean, they really really love it. There’s something about sitting on the 159 with faces covered in ice cream that has serious kid appeal. Parking straight up sucks. We tend to park across the street and hightail it over unless we find reasonably close parking outside the lot on the street. The portions aren’t too bad, but sometimes the lines move a bit slow. Avoid this spot on the first few nice days of the season or you’ll be in line until next season, but if you hit it on an off peak time you’ll practically have the place to yourselves. Great spot for ice cream. Always has been and hopefully always will be.

This place is adorable and a real gem of Oak Forest. After reading the a few of the reviews, I’m bummed out by hearing that the new owners aren’t particularly nice. I hate when a fun business turns into something that is anything but… especially when you have that«family owned» idea in your head where everything is cute and peachy keen behind closed doors. I moved to Oak Forest just over a year ago. Last summer, my boyfriend, a resident of 5 years, had never taken advantage of it until then. It is a great place to scoop up some ice cream. It’s one of those places where you stand outside and order and then choose to sit or take a hike. It’s always nice to polish off your ice cream outside at one of the tables, but enjoying it at home is also a nice alternative. I always get something that resembles the blizzard. I really would like to branch out and get something different next time I’m there. It reminds of Andy’s, a place out in Bolingbrook. It’s newer, but has that same delicious custard. Definitely check this place out if you’re anywhere near the area. It will be worth your trip, a little something different than DQ.

Clown Sundae. Whenever I go to Jack Frost I have to get the clown sundae. I don’t know if it is those sugary eyes on there or what, but it is so delicious. Totally feel like a five year old when I order it, but it is just so tasty. Jack Frost is definitely one of the few great places of Oak Forest has to offer.

Jack Frost is a fantastic little ice cream spot. The very best super secret blitz(their blizzard equivalent) concoction created by my boyfriend and myself — TWIST ice cream(you heard right, it ends up just looking like chocolate after blended by oh no, it tastes different) with peanut butter cups AND toffee bar. Sure you could probably get the same at DQ or Oberweis but something needs to be said for supporting small businesses. You’ll find me here at least once a week this summer.

Reminds me of my local soft-serve ice cream place on the Northside except this is in Tinley Park. It’s your standard Dairy Queen alternative, Very nice place to go with friends and good ice cream. What else does one need?

Jack Frost is a very yummy local ice cream place. They’re very cheap for a tasty treat. Everything I have ever ate from here has always been good. Every year there is at least one new thing every year there. Overall I love this place and it’s my favorite.

Confession? I am not a huge fan of ice cream. I know, I know. Complete and utter blasphemy. When I do opt to go out for ice cream – I usually make my own – it’s almost always a coffee shake from Oberweis. My daughter, on the other hand, loves ice cream. LOVES. So I end up eating a decent amount of ice cream anyway. In any case, there is a lot to be said for this independent li’l ice cream stand which, at one time, was our local ice cream stop. Jack Frost is your basic soft-serve ice cream spot. Lots of twisty cones, tons of toppings, shakes, slushies(which are mega sweet so be forewarned), and the like. The atmosphere is quaint and the patrons local. Baseball and softball teams roll in for post-game treats and families and strollers abound. Seating is all outdoor and can be a bit… sticky. Parking can be rather limited at Jack Frost but side street parking is readily available. If you opt to walk – my preferred method – keep an eye out for the misplaced Indy car drivers roaring down 159th(with a complete disregard for stoplights and pedestrian right-of-way). All in all, Jack Frost is a decent little local place. Maybe not the *best* ice cream, but definitely worth a stop for a quick, local treat. Oh, and the four star rating? A happy medium between my three stars and my daughter’s five. It’s the googly-eyed cones. Gets her every time. ;)

An adorable little ice cream shop that is noticeably teeny tiny amid all of the giant stores along 159th Street. Within it’s cute, little 10 ft by 10 ft, chocolate-colored, dwarf-dwelling looking shack are frosty treats pretty much like Dairy Queen, but it’s not a chain in land-o-chain, so it gets points from me for existing for like 30 years. Service is friendly enough and fast when there’s no line. You can get almost anything marshmallow flavored and the most expensive thing on the menu is about $ 6. But they only take cash, which I’m always gonna boo.

Jack Frost features soft-serve ice cream in it’s various forms(cones, sundaes, shakes, and something akin to a blizzard). I had a small caramel sundae(with warm caramel) with chopped pecans… sooo good! I barely feel the need to say this but be prepared for long lines on warm nights!(though the lines did move quickly!) P. S.CASHONLY and all prices listed include tax.
