This place was just okay for me. I got a chicken taco, chicken burrito, Mexican corn and horchata. The chicken was a bit salty. The Mexican corn was not good(to me). That was the first time I’ve had Mexican corn so I don’t have anything to compare it to. The horchata was the best thing about the meal for us. I did appreciate how clean and well maintained the place was. So that was a plus. They may have some better dishes but first impressions count for a lot.

The best shrimp tacos I’ve had in the area !. I’ll definitely be back to get more. Their service was quick and they were very personable.

I am so happy this place is open. Their steak nachos are to die for. Their location is convenient. The prices are affordable. And they stay open until 1am. The owners are so nice and friendly. I come in and the cute bald guy, Mike, knows exactly what I want. The cooks are great. I will always be back

As far as Mexican food goes this place is pretty good(el Cortez is wayyyyy better.) However the man that claims to be the owner has a major attitude problem. I called in an order for him to just mock me and talk over me. I came in to pick up but first told him he was rude and he argued with me telling me he didn’t need this shit and went on and on. I eventually said I will not return and he said good we don’t need your business… no wonder they are always empty. Such a waste…

Best chimichanga I’ve ever eaten. Look, I’m gonna be honest, I live about 2 miles from this place but I will definitely come back. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The restaurant was very clean. Oh, did I forget to say the food was SPECTACULAR!!!

Being a Southern California native I have high expectations on what good Mexican food is. I judge a Mexican restaurant by two things, the horchata and the rice. My fiancée and I had a craving for Mexican food and wanted to try a new restaurant. I was tired of the place we normally go to. So I Found el burrito Rey on Unilocal.Thank you Unilocalers for your guidance! El Burrito Rey is on point. Their horchata is the best horchata I’ve had so far out here in the burbs. I ordered the two taco dinner, shrimp and fish. It was yummy! Rice was good, the beans I could’ve done without. In so many words, I think I found my new taco joint. I wonder if they’ll be open to doing a California burrito one day:) Thanks el burrito Rey!

The food was delicious I’ve tried most things on the menu and I’ve never been disappointed. The fish tacos and the corn are favorites

This restaurant is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants in the suburbs of Chicago. It’s rich in ethnic art in respect to the Latino community. The food is fresh and so delicious. The restaurant is clean. And of course, the staff is really great!

Service here is amazing! steak tacos were also very delicious! and to top it all off the fried ice cream was so good! the food will keep you coming back, but the service is the cherry on top over the beautiful fried ice cream you will have on your visit here.

Great food with great prices. Had the Wednesday torta special(chicken) with a large portion of golden brown fries and a soda. Second order was the El Rey burrito with steak, beef & chicken — perfect. Third order was the Mexican burger with large portion of perfect fries. All buns and tortillas were grilled to perfection. Meats were lean and moist. Casual, clean and delicious!

I only eat shellfish and this place is perfect. All shrimp dishes have larger shrimp than other Mexican restaurants. I’ve had the shrimp tacos shrimp burrito and shrimp taco salad and everything i had was really good.

we were celebrating a birthday and the celebrant wanted Mexican food. He googeled«authentic Mexican Food» and this place came up. I never knew they were there, but I am SO very glad that I have found it. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was phenomenal! I read a post talking about poor service by a young lady. There was a man name Mike there when we went and he was ALL about customer service. I think he’s the owner or at least management. I recommend anyone that gets poor service ask to speak with management. I had fish taco, a steak gordita, and guacamole. The gauc was so fresh. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time, but yet made to order. The birthday boy had a steak burrito(which was so good he asked for a second one to eat the next day), and the Mexican corn. The prices are very reasonable as well. i would recommend this place to anyone, and I’m going to have to fight with myself to not stop as often as I would like to, because it’s not so good for my hips… lol

So, I’ve been to this place 3 times for lunch. The lady at the register is really rude, no customer service at all. There was an issue with my order the very last time I went, and she totally caught an attitude with me and it wasn’t my fault. She had no accountability. Now the food. The chicken tacos are okay, I only go here on lunch when I’m working so they are decent in a crunch! But the steak tacos, I got millions of little crunchy burnt pieces of meat for my steak taco! What a mess, in addition to bad service I’m never going back. But now I’m wondering if she intentionally burnt my tacos, either way just avoid this hole in the wall!

Delicious! I had a steak burrito and guacamole and chips. The guacamole was super fresh and the steak was tasty and not overcooked. I’m super picky about Mexican food. I usually drive to Pilsen or Little Village for my burritos and tacos. This is the first place on the south side that is flavorfully seasoned and cooked properly. I can’t wait to come back. Definitely check it out for great Mexican!

I REALLY enjoy this place. A gem of the south suburbs. I gave it four stars because… –Fish tacos are wonderful! They’re not breaded(thank god), well seasoned, and hefty tender pieces of meat. –Salsa is made fresh daily. The green one is mild and tastes refreshing; the red is hot with a smokey undertone it. Very good compliment to the steak tacos! –They have elote!!! And it tastes just like the kind you get off the street in Pilsen. –They sell horchata! And it’s freshly made daily! –Very affordable. We needed a place like this!

I was driving through the area and decided for some late night Mexican food. I’m usually pretty skeptical when it comes to the steak tacos at certain places. The meat quality is a big deal for me. This place had great steak tacos and shrimp tacos ! Their salsa was pretty good too. Definitely stopping by again when I’m in the area and they were open pretty late

This is a new place and I wanted to try and support local spots. I had steak tacos, tongue(lengua) tacos and steak sopes. I loved the tongue tacos, but the steak is not very good. I am not sure what cut of beef they use but is was not what appealing or tasty. The sope also had some problems. The dough they use for the sope was just bland and seemed to just serve to take up space in your stomach. I will go back when I have a taste for the Lengua tacos(very good) and will probably try some other items on the menu, but for now, I will stay away from the steak and sopes.
