The food is amazing! Ambiance is sweet and romantic. Love their drink specials. One of our fav places in Nyack to eat.

Besides from the bad service, burned octopus, cold lamb entrée, and rude waiter. I had a ok time. Wouldn’t recommend eating here. You’ll be better off walking around the corner to main street to try a less expensive restaurant that know how to serve you better.

Wow what a great find. On a Sunday night it was nice and quiet, lovely warm ambience and attentive professional staff. The bartender is a pro and the bar has beautiful copper sheeting. The food was imaginative especially loved the beet salad and bread pudding. I’ll be back for sure.

Came back for restaurant week fall 2015 and everything was delicious! The rw menu has a lot of options to choose from and it was hard to pick one because everything sounds yummy. Had the scallops with beets and chèvre to start. This is a small dish, with 3 widdle scawops, but they were super fresh and the beets had a horseradish type of vibe going. The cheese, which I wasn’t sure about, ended up working out pretty well. I think I would just eat cheese off of anything. I chose the chicken dish for my entrée, to try something different. The chicken was exceptionally good. I’m a general fan of chicken to start with, so I’m picky about it. The flavor of the chicken in this dish was really enjoyable. It came with 1 baby potato, cut it half so it looks like 2. It was really freakin good tho. There was also«greens», I’m not sure if it was spinach or chard, or another unidentified leafy green(#ULG), but it was slammin. They were somewhat crispy, but not 100% fried or anything. They were just really well done and the sauce was really good too. Dessert was pumpkin rice pudding. Really tasty, fresh pumpkin flavor and excellent rice pudding overall. It wasn’t too sweet, I really enjoyed it.

Must of been an off night. Considering how many good reviews there are about this restaurants service, my party 4 unfortunately did not receive the service one would expect at fine dining establishment such as this. Sure they tried to make up for it with a round of free drinks and complimentary desserts but I wish it did not have to come to that. As far as the food is concerned, I can’t say it was great but it was not bad either. It was just average. I had the grilled squid entrée. The texture was off. My wife had the steak. It was good but the Yuka fries as a side dish were not very tasty. We also had two side orders of vegetables. Both were very good.

Tonight must of not been a good night the food was cold and one of the people in my party didn’t even receive his food Had a Ravioli dinner that was lukewarm at best. Asked the staff to refire it. Came back warm. Friend STILL hadn’t received his lamb dinner. And waited 20 minutes for his drink. Hope next time we come things will be different and the service will be better.

Second time here. Good service and pleasant ambience. That gave it 2 stars, but I have to disagree with most of previous reviewers on the food. All I can say is that all the food was fresh I have never experienced such tasteless food and such poor preparation in a restaurant. My fish and my husbands chicken had no sauces, marinades, herbs or spices. They tasted like we were on the most restricted diets. It took a lot of salt and pepper just to make them edible. Even the salad dressing was tasteless. All this bland food does not come cheap. The food is not worth the price.

Great menu and ambiance! It’s a tiny space but great for a date night or just to sit and eat great food with some old friends. The staff was knowledgeable and kind. And I had the three course choice for 45 dollars totally worth every penny. The tzeziki dip and the tomato salad are excellent starters. Also the kale Cesar is the bomb. The steak is awesome but please try the short rib ravioli!!! So good. Any dessert you get will be amazing!!!

So incredibly good. I’m going back again and again and again. It’s a long way from my home but it’s worth the trip.

Came here on my way back to CT during that weird 3 – 5 o’clock time frame. This place seemed to be the only one open and serving food. They were still serving brunch, but we asked if the regular menu was available, which it was. Both menus were very similar, with just a little more on the regular menu. There wasn’t a huge selection and there were a lot of items with seafood. We ordered 2 oysters, yellowtail appetizer, chicken meatballs and the eggs Benedict which was served with smoked salmon instead of ham and on an olive muffin. The oysters were good, served with a watermelon. The yellowtail was also good, and was served with elderberries and radish. The chicken meatballs were tender, but you only got 3. The eggs cooked perfectly, but I did find a bone in the salmon. Finally we ordered 2 of the desserts: the coconut cream and the peach blueberry semifredo. I preferred the latter since I don’t really like coconut, but both were good. The crust on the coconut dish, however, was a bit hard to cut. The décor is nice, upscale without being intimidating. Also, our server was sooo nice. Easily some of nicest staff I’ve ever come across. Everything we ate was cooked well and every dish appeared to be thought out and creative. One of my only complaints is that I wish we got a little more bang for our buck in terms of portions.

Came back here for a second time and sat in the bar area to eat. Besides it was Sat Night and we were not going to get seating at one of their tables in the dining area. The service was great and staff friendly. I ordered the Duck that was delicious! It was cooked to perfection. All and all, you must stop in 8 North when you want a great meal.

Wonderful spot just off the main drag in Nyack. As seating is limited, and it is clearly a popular spot, reservations are suggested. The staff was terrific and accommodating, starting with storing our wine in their red cooler after we arrived two hours early and wanted to do some shopping. Our server was knowledgable and helped us pick from the evening’s offerings, and was a friendly presence throughout the meal. The menu lets you pick a la carte, a selection of daily small plates or via a column 1,2,3 tasting menu. It is clear the focus is on fresh ingredients with a seasonal influence — everything was delicious. We decided to mix all the menu options, and started with some oysters — small and fresh, followed by a stuffed zucchini blossom(ricotta, pea emulsion and a dash of balsamic), a mix of the daily meze(small plates that change each day), a roasted organic hen(for the gluten free member of our party), the fish du jour(I forget), and a terrific cut of beef to go with our red wine. We were stuffed and happy! Go get some! Corkage is $ 25.

Dinning here was a very unique experience for me. The food was just simply amazing. I came on a Sunday and ordered from their brunch menu. I ordered a handful of different items along with a beer and it was all excellent. What makes this place so unique is their exceptional staff. We had a waiter that was an absolute delight to talk to even though at first, I had a lousy attitude because I was nursing a hangover. Two other waiters routinely came to the table to ask how the food was, refill our waters and restock complimentary bread. The owner/manger(Not sure which he was) kept tabs on us and touched our table even when the place was very busy with a large party. All of the staff that serviced us was happy to answer questions and never had an attitude or came off as being bothered/annoyed. I made it a point to tip each of the staff that serviced my table personally and am looking forward to my next visit.

Two years later and the food coming out of the kitchen is still very uneven. This round, I came with two friends. My friend’s sea bass was excellent, her husband deemed his choice okay while my gemelli was so bad I couldn’t take more than 2 bites. But the waitress was phenomenal, so she got the extra star for whisking away my dish when she saw I was displeased with it, gave our table a complimentary second bottle of wine and allowed me to select something else from the menu.

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The staff and service are impeccable. I can see why reservations are strongly recommended, because this place fills up quickly. We started with an roasted eggplant dip and a bottle of an Argentinian Pinot Noir with the initials HH.(I was going to verify it on the menu here, but it wasn’t there.) Then we split the fabulous Kale Caesar Salad and mussels. We needed to ask for more bread because the broth was fabulous. I thought my dining companion would’ve had enough by now, be he hadn’t. We split the Grilled Mediterranean Branzino and one of their vegetable specials – a baked carrot dish. Both were out of this world and I’m so glad that we split them. They suggested dessert, but I was stuffed. The only thing I didn’t really like was the complimentary digestif that had a weird taste, but it did nothing to color my opinion of my overall meal. I loved this place!

Love this place. The staff are the nicest bunch of people you’ll ever have as your servers. They are very attentive, helpful, and they know their shtuff. If you’d rather have your dish with a different side, they are happy to oblige. Ambiance is warm and welcoming. Even though the place has seriously dim lighting, perhaps it only further enhances my taste buds– smart, I like their thinking. Food is great! — Free bread appetizers– buttery, warm and toasty. Better than your avg breadstick or roll. -$ 1 oyster wednesdays: oysters are always good and they don’t skimp on the sauces. The make their own homemade cocktail sauce. — favorite dishes(sorry I don’t remember the exact names): yucca frites, polenta, mussels, hen, and charred octopus. — dessert: crispy filo dough with cream and almonds on top– yummmm — overall: A++ They let us taste test some wines to help us choose and gave us an extra dessert on the house. Thanks 8nB!

I was having a business dinner in the area and Unilocal hooked me up yet again with a great setting and a delicious meal in downtown Nyack. If you are in Nyack you can’t go wrong with 8 North Broadway. We enjoyed a drink at the focal point bar that runs down the left side of the room before the meal. The wine by the glass menu is not extensive, but all the requisite varietals are well represented. As an appetizer, we enjoyed the dip sampler. The dips were good, but there were not enough dippers to go along with the dish. I had a unique, but delicious chopped Caesar. The roasted chickpeas were an amazing and unexpected substitute for the traditional croutons. For my entrée, I chose the grilled Branzino — the server said this was one of their signature dishes and I can see why. Perfectly grilled, lightly seasoned, the fish was a perfectly light dish with a nice sized portion. I found the bitter greens and yellow potatoes to be a little over salted, but I tend to prefer less salt than the normal diner. I did not try it, but two of my tablemates chose the liver cavatelli — a unique dish that you would not normally find in a restaurant, but it seems that 8nb is not afraid to take chances with its oft-changing menu. The service was excellent, although the waiter’s assistant did have a bit of a language barrier. This was a business meeting with a lot of discussion going on — I thought that the server had a special skill for waiting until a lull in the conversation to check in on the table, take orders, or deliver refills. This is an art that has been lost on many servers today. I was in the middle of a presentation when the entrée arrived and continued talking while the rest of the party began eating. I appreciated that that maître d was concerned enough to come over and ensure there was not an issue with my order. Parking can be inconvenient. Street parking is free after 6pm and there is a small lot behind the municipal building a half block East. We were there on a Tuesday night so there was some parking available, but I understand it can be hard to find parking on the weekends.

I went here a few months ago for my 2nd wedding anniversary and can still remember the meal well enough to write about it — amazing! We booked our table on OpenTable and made a note that it was our anniversary, and as soon as we were seated, they poured us two glasses of sparkling wine to celebrate. They also seated us in a corner table, which was a little more intimate as we got to sit next to each other rather than across. We both ordered cocktails and they were quite yummy! We started with the beet salad, which had shavings of three different cheeses and they were all delicious. The manager came to check on us often and we even spoke to him for a bit about the cheeses and how unique they were. For our main entrees, I ordered the prawns atop chorizo and kidney beans. It was a warm hearty meal perfect for the chilly October weather. My husband ordered a grass-fed steak with yucca(grass-fed is SUCH a huge plus for us, thank you for putting this on the menu!!). The steak came out a little more well done than my husband wanted — he had asked for medium rare. They immediately took the dish back to remedy the situation. While we were waiting for the steak, I was starting on my prawns and the manager came out with a sizzling skillet and said that he felt badly for the steak situation and so he wanted to bring us one of the best dishes on their menu: the octopus. It was a thoughtful way to make up for the steak and he was right — it was AMAZING. When the steak came out, it was cooked perfectly and the yucca was fantastic. This was the best way for a restaurant to handle a plate being sent back — appropriate and professional. I do not remember ordering a dessert but I’m pretty sure if my memory serves correctly, they brought us something to celebrate our anniversary. I cannot remember what it was but I’m pretty sure my husband ate every bite!

Make a reservation before you come here! I didn’t realize this place was so popular and we were lucky they had space for us at the bar. The feel of this restaurant is laid back but classy; I noticed people come here for special occasions. I came here with my husband and his best friend(who is the one that ordered double the portion of the sizzling Spanish octopus… YEAH it’s that good!) during restaurant week. The appetizer and main entrée were superior to the desert which I found somewhat lacking in choice and sweetness… I love my desert so I was bummed. Nevertheless, this pace gets a four star because the sizzling Spanish octopus was the best octopus I’ve had so far! Also, the yellowfin tuna tartare for the appetizer was really, really yum!
