In comparison to other local Peruvian spots, Lando does a great job in setting an example for other Peruvian restaurants. First off, the place itself is clean. I’ve come across some disasters all across North Jersey where the tables are lopsided, walls are in dire need of paint, music is too loud, etc. but Lando needs no cosmetic repairs. Every time I’ve gone to dine, the place is empty and I’m usually the only person dining in. Perhaps they have more orders for pick-up? The menu isn’t very complicated but they do have daily specials. As for the food, it’s decent. Nothing extraordinary but the food is made with effort which goes a long way. I have had the Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Arroz Chaufa, and Tallarin Verde here and have yet to be disappointed. All those dishes were well-seasoned and well-made. While Lando certainly doesn’t take the greatest culinary award in Peruvian dining, they did manage to become my parents go-to restaurant whenever mom doesn’t feel like cooking. For that, they deserve four stars. **Note: Breakfast is only served on the weekends.

Our first visit did not disappoint. Hubby had Chaufas with chicken. Very generous portion and the rice had plenty of flavor. I had the Tallarin Verde which was pasta with creamy pesto with a nice shredded cheese on the side(think Italian parmasean). I ordered it vegetarian since Peruvian food tends to cook their meat more than I care for. The portion was good, the pasta(linguini) was cooked well and the pesto was flavorful. We ended sharing a delicious Flan. Perfect dessert. We also ordered a Chica Mirada with our meal. This is described as «Purple corn drink/lime». It was sweet and cold, delicious and refreshing. Our server Georgette was very sweet and helpful. When we asked about our beverage she graciously brought some out for us to try. Overall the restaurant is small but clean and pretty and comfortable. We definitely recommend Lando and we will definitely be back.

I am completely obsessed with this place. I’ve been here quite a few times and every time I leave happy. The food is amazing. The waitress is so sweet and attentive. The prices are very affordable. But most importantly the food is five stars. I’ve been to many Peruvian restaurants and I wouldn’t go anywhere else but Lando’s. It’s a little hard to see on the street but this place deserves all the credit. I’ll definitely be back again.

This place is a nice cozy place. It is family owned. The servers are all so pleasant and friendly. The environment is inviting, with a nice music background. The dishes are delicious. We just hosted an event in this restaurant, the food quality and service were excellent. The servers were so helpful. The guests had a good time. Their food choices were excellent. especially the lentil salad and the ‘pollo a la brasa’. Keep up the good work Lando! See you soon.

Wonderful little Peruvian place. Had papas rellenas and lomo saltado, and my husband had a tamal and the ceviche. Everything came out quickly and hot, and tasted delicious. Service was good and the chef even gave us info about the type of chilis he used. We went early on a weeknight & were the only people there which was a shame. Hope business picks up because this place is good and really affordable!

Came in one night to try a new restaurant in town and had high hopes. Not only was the service horrible and slow, but the food was an embarrassment. Thank goodness it was BYOB because that’s what got us through the meal. We started with some papa rellena and empenadas, which came out quickly and were good. However, we waited an eternity for our dinners to come out, and were pretty disappointed. The choufa and tallarin were okay, but what my friend received was shocking: a plate of rice with a single chicken wing on top. We all laughed because we could not believe our eyes. For good peruvian food, try Sabor Peru in Rutherford. The service there is amazing and they would never serve you anything as embarassing as a single chicken wing over a bed of rice.

Not going to lie I walked in here not expecting it to be good since I’m from Peru and would have never imagined an authentic Peruvian Restaurant in Nutley out of all places. I order the Papa a la Huancaina, and I was not too impressed the sauce was very thick and wasn’t a good servicing of sauce to potatoes as most other places. For my main course I got Chaufa de Carne which I was very surprised at how good it was after my app. It was super tasty and the portion was great! My parents had the rotisserie chicken and they felt like it was more like fried chicken but they said the taste of it was OK. I will probably give it a second try to taste something else one the Menu but not to shabby!

Sorry for this review but I have to be honest. I sacrificed movie night for this place because it was the last night to use my groupon. The entrance is hidden off Washington Ave so I missed it twice. First I must say the waitress was sincerely nice to us but that’s where the goodness ends. This was our first experience with Peruvian food and it was not good. For appetizers we had the potato croquettes and chicken soup. The croquettes were OK but the chicken soup was bland and didn’t have that fresh homemade taste. I had the pesto pasta with steak. The steak was tough and chewy while the pasta didn’t have any taste. My fiancé had the chicken fried rice which was not specially good and had an over bearing soy sauce taste. The Flan we had for dessert had good texture but again had no real flavor. I am a big fan of flan and usually order it when I see it on the menu but this time I wish I had tried something else. I hate to write a bad review for a place but despite the really good waitress I don’t think I will return. I still have faith in Peruvian cuisine and will give it a try some place else.

I came recently with a group at their recommendation and being of Peruvian descent myself I thought that there was no way it’d be better than my mom’s home cooked meals. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong, the food was flavorful and at prices that didn’t make me have an aneurism. Our waiter Patrick was helpful and accommodating. When I think of Peruvian restaurants I have a bad experience with loud music, gaudy interiors, and boisterous diners. Lando’s is a much more ambient and serene place to dine. The only nitpick I have is that the menu is a bit small, however it’s better to have a few good dishes than a dozen mediocre ones. Will definitely recommend to family and come back!

I visited last night and have to say the food was tasty, very well-seasoned and fresh. Even though I had a Groupon, the prices were reasonable for what you get. We had one seafood dish and it was done well, no fishy smell. It’s a BYOB as well, which is awesome. We will be visiting again!

Our hostess/waitress Tatianna(Tati) was very helpful, informative & polite from the moment we walked in til the moment we left! Although first timers, she was so welcoming, friendly & chatty that she made us feel as if we were regulars! The appetizer & entrée portions were HUGE(a tad salty for our taste, so ask for light salt if need be), the prices were Very fair & All the food was Very flavorful! They have a parking lot(free of course) in the back, right by the entrance, handicapped parking & accessible too! Highly recommended by folks that have spent a lifetime eating out! :-)

Server was friendly. Place was clean, but the food was very bland. We ordered the special Chicken with Parmesan sauce, but had to add a lot of salt and pepper to make it have any taste at all. We also got the stir fry, which was ok but could have been much better.

I’ve dined here multiple times, and I had an amazing experience every time. First, the ambiance– intimate size, beautiful rustic colors, fresh flowers on each table, and clean. Second, the food– simply put: amazing! — I’ve tried so many items and there hasn’t been one that I didn’t completely devour. Arroz con pollo(chicken and rice dish) huge portion, tender chicken, super tasty. Pechuga de pollo a la plancha– my favorite– juicy, flavorful chicken, not greasy at all & love love all the little sauces that come with it! Parihuela– awesome seafood stew — portion enough to share among 2! Full of fresh shrimp, fish mussels. I can go on and on! Third, the staff– very nice and accommodating. Great service and food brought out hot and fresh. I ordered takeout once for my husband and placed the order halfway through my meal, and it came out(hot) right on time at the end of my meal. Another plus point if this place is how affordable it is AND it’s BYOB! This is the place for great Peruvian cuisine without breaking the bank! Definitely a «must try»

I’ve eaten here a few times and I don’t understand the bad reviews. I never enjoyed fish, but a friend told me to try the ceviche so I tried it and actually loved it! I’m new to Peruvian food and haven’t had a dish there that I disliked. Oh and the apple pie is crack! So good!

Ordered two dishes(Carapulco and the Linguine a lo Lando) for take out the first week this restaurant opened. I was told it would take 45 minutes to prepare. I figured they were new and in the process of ironing out the kinks so no problem; I’ll take a chance. So, when I got there after 45 minutes, I had to wait an additional 15 minutes. Not cool but I let it slide. Just letting everyone know what I experienced. As for the food though … when we opened the containers, I was disappointed to see literally one drumstick and a piece of pork the size of an «okay» sign that you can make with your fingers. I mean, the description of it is Slow-cooked Pork| Chicken so I figured there would be more pork but I guess not ??? Why so skimpy on the pork when it’s first in the title of the dish? It was the size of a quarter !!! As for the Linguine with Shrimp, I thought I could have cooked it on the same level. I don’t know. I would like to give this restaurant another chance, but not any time soon.

Food is awful! I visited Lando because I had a Groupon. I was extremely disappointed in every aspect of my dining experience. First, the food was terrible. We started with a mixto ceviche(shrimp and fish) and it smelled and tasted like the fish was not fresh. Good ceviche will not smell fishy! The menu is extremely limited and is lacking several staples(yucca, plantains). For my entrée, I ordered the pan fried fish. What I didn’t know is the fish was breaded and deep fried(so not pan fried). It had no flavor, was overly salty and the fish was not fresh! Moreover, the ambiance SUCKs. There is zero décor and its just plain depressing in there! They need a new chef and a makeover — please do not waste your money here. If you want good Peruvian, I highly recommend Costanera in Montclair.

i’m very sorry for this review because even when the waitresses effort so much to be nice and helpful, their lack of experience was evident. this is more like an attention call to the manager/owner of the place who i never saw around on my 2 visits. as a peruvian native i was wanting so much to have a peruvian restaurant in the area but unfortunately we don’t plan to come back ever, even with a groupon. we used the offer today and was terrible! the causa rellena so untasty, the chicken filling was old and chopped in tiny pieces(not he right way). the huancaina was not a t all the typical dish, flavorless no yellow pepper taste, i mean. how can you fail in a dish so simple as this? the salchipapa was made with cheap hot dog and bagged greasy fries. but my kids liked it of course. the jalea, no flavor, saggy, watery. the green pesto pasta with steak was just ok, i tried much better ones. the desserts like the apple caramel something was terrible! bland, wet crust, .the leche asada was just ok, nothing to die for. the worst part besides the food is the waiting time! was ridiculous! an interval of 20 to 40 minutes between dishes! please change your cooks inside, no experience at all! i’d understand if it’s crowded but there were only 2 tables! then later started to get crowded when i was leaving so i can’t imagine how the would deal with that. i have to say in their favor, is a byow place, is clean, the bathrooms are huge and clean. but food is terrible! i think if you use groupon to attract people to your business(and they had a great opportunity) you have to be prepared with fast and efficient servers and experienced cooks ! everyone seemed to be lost in there! hope this review helps to improve the dishes and service although i’m not coming back.

Been here a few times now and the food has been fantastic every time. Tonight I had the pesto dish with chicken instead of steak. My husband had the stir fry with beef. Both were delicious. Portions are deceivingly huge. I ate way beyond the point where I was full because it was so awesome. Friendly staff. Great service. Hidden gem!
