Great atmosphere and friendly staff. All the rolls we ordered well delicious. The ginger dressing on the salad tastes amazing. Only reason not a five star experience is our drinks sat empty halfway through the meal and we were never asked if needed another. The we ordered were about 13 a roll.

The service here was great! Very kind and helpful the whole meal. Oishi also had good prices for good sushi. They had a fairly large menu and offer everything from tempura, to sushi, to udon to ramen. The only weird thing is finding the front door if you are using a gps app it will take you to the backside of the building that oishi is in. Head over near the mongolian bbq side of the building to find the entrance.

Pretty good overall. We arrived within thirty minutes of close for lunch, but they were more than happy to seat us. The sushi was fresh and the meals were prepared well. The staff was very nice and friendly. The waitress saw me on a phone call writing on a napkin and brought me some paper to write on and I really appreciated this. I would return if I were to return to the area which I probably will.

Great service. Came here for a quick meal and the service was prompt and excellent. As soon as we walked in we got a table and sat down outside. The food was great, we ordered ramen, onigiri(rice balls), and fried rice. We were very impressed. Everything looked traditional and the whole place had a modern ambience. There wasn’t many people there as were there on an odd night, but I’d definitely go back!

Five stars all the way. I love going to places with people who know the owners. My friend Courtney, who’s already been mentioned in my reviews multiple times(we love to eat), has gotten pretty chummy with the staff here, so on my birthday they gave our whole party free soup and salad. I love their sushi, and always finish off my meal with some green tea ice cream. If you live in the area and like sushi, I highly recommend checking this place out. Their ambiance is perfect, and their sushi is among the best I’ve tried.

The restaurant is conveniently located in Novi. Lots of parking and atmosphere is great. The food is very mediocre. I got the ramen and rice dish combo which comes with a salad, so did my boyfriend. The quality was food was not terrible but you can much better Japanese food around. The combo was fairly cheap. About $ 13 bucks for ramen, rice bowl and salad. The serving size is generous. Service was very meh, could be a lot better. There was barely anyone there so the food came very fast. Overall, it was okay for the price I guess. If you are looking for good food don’t come. If you are looking for cheap okay food, this place is not a bad choice.

unique selection. Limited special rolls compared to other Japanese restaurants.

I came for lunch recently with my boyfriend. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. We split a salmon sashimi appetizer and I got the Ten don. The salmon sashimi was awesome! So fresh and melt in your mouth. Yummmmm The Tend don was also very good. There were three large shrimp with some assorted vegetables. The batter was airy and light, not greasy. Overall really good and I will definitely come back

Oishi is located in the odd office/restaurant/shopping structure on Main Street, two doors down from Mongolian BBQ. I remember when their space used to be New Peking Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Hot and Spicy Ramen and my friend got the Chicken Ramen. Mine had a nice, thick spicy pork broth that was somewhat similar to a hot and sour soup broth. Tons of veggies and chunks of pork made it an extremely flavorful combo. It was a huge portion which I was not able to finish. We split a spicy tuna roll that was very tasty. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his chicken ramen and said it had a lot of good flavor. The service was good, but we had kind of a weird experience with our server, We asked her for a minute to look over the menu and she then disappeared for a good 10 minutes until we finally flagged her down to order. After that the service was fine, and my friend and I may have just gotten caught up in conversation. I’m not going to nick them for one odd encounter. Overall a great experience. I will be back.

Wow, what an enjoyable evening my friend & I had here! We walked in & were greeted by a hostess & a man, who I assumed was the owner. He showed us to our table & pulled our chairs out for us(chivalry not dead, apparently). Our service was perfect — our waiter came over right away and got our drinks. We ordered shortly after and all of our food was delivered to the table within a matter of 15 minutes(which was great bc we were STARVED)! I ordered the garden salad which had a carrot/ginger dressing and I can honestly say this is some of the best dressing I’ve ever had! I also got a spicy tuna roll with a side of spicy mayo and spicy chicken fried rice(yes, I was extremely hungry but ended up taking about half of my chicken fried rice home… lunch tomorrow)! The wait staff was very attentive & friendly! Our bills came less than 3 minutes of us asking for them and all together, we were in and out within an hour. I can’t say enough good things about my experience here and wish I lived closer so I could come more often! The best part? My bill was less than $ 20 with more than a 20% tip! Can’t beat that :)

Came here yesterday with my boyfriend after we couldn’t find Bibimbab(supposedly it’s supposed to be within the same office building, but we couldn’t find it), so we decided to try Oishi instead. We ordered miso soup, seaweed salad, the Bogy roll, Atlantic roll, Salsa roll, and Las vegas roll. The miso soup was okay — they use fried tofu rather than the normal steamed tofu that many other restaurants use, so it was rather unusual for me. The seaweed salad was too sour– it’s as if they left it in the vinegar for a long time. Out of all the sushi rolls, we enjoyed the Bogy and Las Vegas roll the most. The bogy roll had shrimp tempura and a crab salad inside with spicy tuna on top. The las vegas was HUGE! it was stuffed with a LOT and very delicious!(it could literally fit in the palm of your hand). the atlantic and salsa roll were alright to us. for 12.95 for a special sushi roll, i don’t find the sushi that special. i’ve spent the same amount of money for more special sushi rolls. plus it’s a bummer that miso soup and salad don’t come with it when you purchase special rolls(several sushi restaurants i’ve been to give free miso soup and salad for ordering special rolls). service, however, was really good.

i was thoroughly impressed by oishi for its simplicity. i’ve been in the midwest for too long and really can’t live without asian food for too long and my coworker recommended oishi. ordered the saba shioyaki(baked mackeral) and enjoyed every bite! the dinner came with: 1) salad– although filled with useless lettuce, but the dressing was really good 2) rice– standard white rice, wished they had brown rice option 3) saba shiyoyaki– delicious. not heavy in sodium and came with raddish & lemon 4) miso soup– not cheapo, filled with seaweed, tofu, and even tofu skin a bit expensive for michigan but after 38590380953 days of white castle, coney island, fries, junk, junk, and more junk, i needed some healthy alternatives.

This used to be my favorite place for sushi. It has changed a lot and sadly for the worse. Prices have sky rocketed, service has gone down and some of my favorite options no longer exist. The quality of the sushi isn’t what it used to be. The rolls used to be large, fresh and were cold. The last roll I had here was small, had that«ready to expire» fish taste and was room temperature. I still love the atmosphere and some of the cooked menu items here but the service is poor enough that I feel as though my money is better spent elsewhere.

First time my husband and I went to Oishi was because Ajishin closed for Christmas eve. Both of us ordered Chirashi, the amount of seafood on the bed of shushi rice was generous and fresh. So we decided that we will go back to this restaurant again. Then 2nd, I went with my brother-in-law and his family. Everybody was happy with their food except my nephew. He ordered ramen, he tried it and he didn’t care for it. The deep fried pork chop with curry and rice was wonderful. Yakisoba had a LOT of veggies in it, I love it. katsu don was good, too. Definitely will go back.

Oishi is the best sushi I’ve had since I left Japan. Great choice of rolls; both authentic and innovative. Decent prices and Japanese beer on tap. Service is phenomenal and nice atmosphere too! This is THE place for sushi!

I was so disappointed with Oishi. Normally I go to Ajishin when I’m in Novi but this time, went to Oishi with several friends. It was a weekday after work so it wasn’t incredibly busy. The waitress was not very friendly with us. My friend ordered a dish and the waitress rudely said, «I’ll have to check with the chef to see if he can make it.» Okay. That’s fine. We wait for her to come back. She comes back and grudgingly says we can order it. She made it seem like we were getting something ridiculous instead of something that’s right on the menu. I ordered the korokke as an appetizer(I even pointed to it on the menu because she didn’t seem to hear me) she brought me out a vegetable tempura. When me and my friends pointed out the mistake, she said we were wrong. I was just going to eat it anyway because I didn’t want to make an issue but my friends knew how much I wanted the korokke and let her know that it was what I ordered. She shook her head as she walked away from us. The sushi was pretty decent. I ordered the hiyashi chuka which wasn’t bad(it’s hard to screw that up). My husband ordered soba but it was pretty bland. I’m surprised that this place is advertised as Korean/Japanese because there weren’t a lot of Korean items on the menu. Maybe they reduced the Korean food because of the Korean restaurant in the same plaza? The waitress hardly came to fill water glasses but was very quick to give us the bill as soon as we finished our last bite. She was also quick to get the tip from us which made it very uncomfortable for us to stay for dessert. The place was actually pretty good, but the really horrible service was enough for me to not want to go back. I felt like spending $ 25 wasn’t worth my meal after being treated the way we were.

Even though I had to drive over an hour to get there, the place was great. The guise was a birthday party and the guests had been there many times before so they knew exactly what to order. I got sushi, but they got the ramen bowls. The ramen bowls are huge I must say, and worth the price. My sushi was good and my drink was stiff, just the way I like it. The menu has pictures of everything, just in case you’re not sure what to order. The waitstaff was attentive and even brought out some ice cream w/candles in it for the birthday guest of honor. The asian bobble-heads at the counter are a hoot too. Delicious. Enjoy!

I think Oishi was discovered through Unilocal or Urban Spoon when we were in the area looking for ideas on where to eat dinner. Sushi is definitely one of those foods that are fun to experiment with different combinations, and Oishi has lots to offer in selection. They offer a somewhat rare Ume Shiso(plum paste) roll that is very good. My only complaint is that we made one order of several rolls for 3 people, and most were on individual plates, which made for a very crowded table top. The service was excellent, but don’t ask them if they sell the sushi bobble heads at the front counter, because they’ll only giggle as an answer.
