Waited forever for our order to be taken. No greeting from our waitress. Took forever to get our food. Served half the party and made the other party wait. Orders were incorrect. Never checked up on us. No thank you from the waitress as we walked out.

This place is really nice, I like it already and I haven’t even ate anything yet! Missing a teaspoon though for my Green Tea., I swiped one off the next table shush:). You know someone should come up with a seedless lemon, they have seedless grapes and oranges why not lemons? Nicole was my server and she was nice and smilie. smiley? My meal was $ 19.48 it adds up $ 1.50 here and fifty cents there you get the idea. Like I said before I ‘m a chow-hound! I was looking forward to hash browns but they only have country potatoes So I had the fresh fruit bowl: comes with cantaloupe, honeydew and strawberries, only three little slices lots of the other melons. I would of liked to have some blueberries and pineapples too!

I go here often, mostly for breakfast and the food is always wonderful. Love the atmosphere and the staff is always pleasant. Owners Mike and Nicole are local Novato ad it’s so great to support a local business. I have to sneak in and say hi to Mike since it’s been awhile since he is always back in the kitchen. We worked together at Toast years ago.

Our server Mike was great. He sold me on the Swordfish special, which was excellent. Service was prompt and courteous. Appetizers(poke and crabcakes) were also delicious. Everything came out in order and on time.

This is the only restaurant I have ever been to that sells out of biscuits and gravy… Did they run out of flour? Or milk? Or pork fat?! I know it’s good, thats why I’m here… But if I have to go to bed early Saturday night just to wake up early enough to get some B&G, keep it. Another golden waffle it is… But it is my dream to get their delicious Biscuits n Gravy past 10:30am, I’ll keep wishing.

Best comfort food in the north bay. Everything is fresh made to order. Mike believes there are no short cut when your goal is to deliver quality.

Took my kids for a quick breakfast as we got ready for Christmas Eve day. The staff were excellent and really nice. The food was awesome and the pricing was very low. I was out the door for $ 30 with a 20% tip. Kids and I saved what we couldn’t finish and had a nice little snack with it later. They have cool old pictures and a great vibe. I would highly recommend this place.

Really not impressed. Took a really long time for someone to bring us our water, the tea we ordered and our food. The food was at most mediocre. My tea cup was dirty and so was my fork. Not really into that. Save your time and head over to Marvin’s, Miracle Mile, Half Day. Anything else really.

I have been here many times. I WANT to give it a better review. In fact, I think I have. I have truly had 5 star food and service here. Unfortunately, I’ve also had 1 star food here as well. The extremes are hard to take. It’s a too pricey for the times it is mediocre or bad. I wish, whomever the great cook is, that he/she cooked all the time.

I came here for lunch with a few co-workers around noon. It was crowded, but not packed. We ordered 3 BLTs(no bells and whistles). It took 55 minutes to get our food! We were never checked on, not once. When the food came, it was a pretty lame. It wasn’t bad, but there was nothing special about it(I’ve made better BLTs at home). Plus the bread was burnt, so our mouths were sore after trying to swallow them. We definitely wont be back!

This is the kind of place that makes you want to give a great rating. Family owned and local, but the service was mediocre and the food while tasty was lacking in presention. So unfortunate as Marvins’s is a tough place to beat for breakfast. Now the owners are on site and trying hard and they told us they were down one server, but… We felt bad, but can’t give it more than 3 stars… We’ll try it again for lunch maybe? We had breakfast and the pancakes and French toast got thumbs up all the way around, but the presentation on the omelette and benediction wasn’t there, they looked bland, and tasted a little better.

While the service can be slow, the food is always prepared properly and hot. I like to try their specialty pancakes, the apple cinnamon is my favorite. The owners are always pleasant, the staff is too. It seems they have a high turnover in servers, but that has never affected my dining experience.

Incompetence, thine name is Left Bank wait staff and management. 15 minutes to take our order. 45 minutes to deliver the food. No visits to our table in between. Order was wrong. When asked about our order the owner said«I just got here. I’m not your waiter.» FIRED. Too bad because the food was fairly good.

I have been here four times and done takeout maybe three. The hostess/service situation is consistently not up to the food. Today was a classic example. Went in to a half full restaurant. Asked to sit outside but it was so empty that we worried we’d be forgotten so we asked to sit in front instead. The hostess said, «I am getting my workout here.» Not in a smiley way, kind of sullen and teenagerish. Really? Not a great beginning. Then, it took at least fifteen minutes to get our order taken and that is frustrating when two people are at the front shooting the breeze. If the waitress is busy, maybe someone could lend her and the customers a bit of their time and energy, in a positive way. Luckily the busboys were cheerful and good, the waitress was competent once she got to us, and the food was as always, delicious. That front room thing is really holding this place back. Marvin’s was packed with people waiting. I am pretty sure it is because they act like they are happy to see you there and to give great service.

Today was our third attempt to like this place but the third time was not a charm – I doubt we’ll be back. We were greeted with a blank stare by the hostess. She didn’t say hello or ask how many in our party but rather just looked at us until I spoke up. A little awkward but forgivable, I guess. While the hostess was off wandering around looking for a table amongst the many empty ones, the woman who ended up being our server, Nicole, seated us and walked away. The busser brought us coffee and water right away which was great. When Nicole returned, she didn’t tell us about the brunch specials we’d seen on the sign outside, but rattled them off when we asked. No details offered. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and my husband order steak and scrambled eggs. Nicole made a point of finding out exactly how we wanted our eggs which seemed like a good sign… I will say that she was friendly. However, when our food was brought out by a different server after what seemed like quite a wait considering the number of empty tables, she warned us that the plates were very hot and it was clear they were hot because they sat under the lights for far too long. My husband’s scrambled eggs were actually fried over hard(crispy!). His steak was dry and over cooked. We would have sent it back but nobody came back to our table. In all fairness he did eat it, but it wasn’t prepared the way he ordered it. The next time we saw Nicole was when we flagged here down for more coffee… My food was just ok except for the cantaloupe that had been heated up by my hot plate. I’d forgotten that I don’t care for their breakfast potatoes which are deep fried hunks of potato with no flavor whatsoever, but my bad for not ordering something else in their place. So the bland, over-cooked, sat-too-long food combined with mediocre-poor service gets two stars from us. If I could give them 1−½ stars, I would. Sad to say we’re still on the lookout for a decent breakfast place in central to north Marin because we don’t plan on going back here a fourth time.

My daughter and I LOVE this place! My 4yr old devours the kids cheeseburger without blinking… And it’s a decent size! The grilled cheese is seriously adult sized amazingness! I usually come for breakfast for a quick eggs, potatoes and toast. Quick, easy, and BESTSERVICEINTOWN! I also love to build my own burgers. Lots of options! Oh the fried chicken is great too. What don’t I like about this place? Hmmm haven’t figured that one out yet.

My sister came into town to visit me and I took her to Napa Valley to do a little wine tasting and to ring in the new year 2015… On the way back home we stop by here to get some yummy brunch. The location is right in the heart of Novato. I love small towns like this because everything is walking distant and parking is not hard to find at all. I love the patio/décor of the restaurant. The restaurant looks small from the outside but it is huge. It stretch all the way back to the other end of the restaurant & it’s funny how the other side of the restaurant has a different décor. 2 star — When we got there, the place was busy but it wasn’t that busy… My sister & I both order The Depot Combo. I got the 2 eggs, 2 sausage, substitute toast for French toast instead & pancake. It took for ever for our food to arrived… after we were done with our food… it took forever to get our tab so we can pay for our meal and get back on the road. I had to ask them a few times to get our tab. Beside that, the food was yummy… the French toast was yummy. I will eat here again if I’m ever in the area.

Way back when I was a child this was the location of the Golden Egg Omelet House, where my parents would take my sisters and I every so often for a post-church breakfast, and I’d enjoy their flapjacks or French toast — I was never a big egg person. Over time, the name of this location changed ever so often, but reverting to the Golden Egg on occasion, so tracking its name was a bit like following Ricky Henderson’s career — sooner or later he’d be an Oakland A again. But a couple of years ago, the name would change to what it is currently: Left Coast Depot. We had eaten here twice before — once when it first opened we had a dinner as part of its soft opening, and then again a few months later for breakfast. Both meals were passable, but nothing special. So last Saturday we decided to try again — we were looking to expand our Novato repertoire a little bit, and this seemed a logical candidate. Arrival for us was at about 5:30, and there were only a couple of tables filled. We were led to a table for which one of the seats was covered by masking tape — never a good sign. At least we were greeted when we entered the joint, something that has been lacking for a few of our recent restaurant visits. Our waitress, while friendly and outgoing enough, was just a bit too overbearing for our tastes — she was just a little too enthusiastic about the specials. I will admit that I prefer that over somebody going through the motions — still, we could hear her repeat the specials for every table she visited. I ordered the one pound burger, which certainly did its job in filling me up. The fries were ok, nothing memorable, but the beer I ordered, while it went down easily enough, came in a rather forlorn-looking glass. I was hoping for a piece of pie for dessert, but such an offering was not present on the menu, only milkshakes and crème broulet. I ordered a butterscotch milkshake, but would learn afterwards that it wasn’t available so I had to settle for the caramel. Both of us felt a bit verklempt afterwards, with lack of sleep to follow. Don’t want to say the experience was sickening, but if you want basic comfort food with better options in Novato, you’d be better off going to Star Restaurant.

Great service, great staff and amazing food. The place is clean and friendly, with an outdoor patio to boot. 5 $ mimosas are a bit pricy but DELICIOUS. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back for another round of those biscuits and gravy!

This is a cute spot in Novato where we had breakfast. Since it was a great sunny day, we sat in the outdoor patio where they had umbrellas to shade us from the sun. Here’s what I ordered: Smoked Omelette with bacon, smoked mozarella, green onion, tomatoes, hashed browns and wheat toast: No need for salt here. The bacon and melted smoked mozzarella was seasoning enough for this. I did however help myself to some hot sauce so that I could spice it up. That’s just how I like it. White nectarine pancakes: Pancakes with slices of freshly ripe nectarines, powdered sugar, cheese, and syrup on the side. I shared these with some friends and the white nectarines were a really nice touch. The service here was great as well– Our waters were always filled, fresh coffee was being poured when we were done, and our server was really friendly. Great place!
