Cromwell Ron Chevron Service

Nobody likes getting their car smogged, but doing it here makes it painless. They honor local coupons for other locations and are centrally located. I chose to sit inside and wait while my car was being checked and Maria was very friendly, yet professional. She also told me about a car redemption program for a different vehicle.
Service was fast, efficient and friendly.

Best smog check experience I’ve ever had. First, it was fast. Mid-​afternoon, mid-​week, only one other car being serviced. The time estimate was 20 minutes, and they beat it.
Second, very friendly people, Maria discovered that my tire pressure was low and filled all four tires. Last but not least, a competitive price.
They are a «Star» station so if your DMV notice says you need that type of facility, this is one of the few places in Novato that can handle it. Thanks also to the One Stop Smog Check people in Novato, I tried them first but they are not a «Star» shop, and this was one of two they recommended I try.

These guys are great! I had a problem car — hadn’t been driven in years, dying battery, and couldn’t pass smog but I had to smog it to get the DMV to let me drive it so it would (long story).
Peter knew exactly the situation with the DMV (better than some of the DMV agents), took care of me quickly, and helped with the battery. I turned around and Yasmin was checking and filling my underinflated tires.
All for a really reasonable price and a great deal on the re-​inspection after I go through the DMV labyrinth. They were all about taking care of me. Highly recommended.

I bring my cars here for smog inspections and the appointment always starts on time and is done quickly. The tester is usually all business, but polite.

You know when you get that DMV renewal and it requires a smog. I hate those. Ron’s makes it easy. They are an official smog station that does not do the repairs so no conflict of interest. I hate that too, test places that have a vested interest in your car failing. I love Ron’s, I have used them twice for the required smog. They are all very nice people, especially Ron and he get’s it done quickly.
I had a car problem this year and he was great about giving me a note for my mechanic about what he thought it needed. My mechanic even called him and Ron was happy to talk to him.
I hear they still do full service one day a week for their old customers that still want it. Only in Marin.
I highly recommend this honest, helpful and efficient station for all your smog tests.

I grew up at this Chevron, not literally, but in a way. I remember always coming to this Chevron station as a kid and its satisfying to still see it standing with nothing changed. In regards to the other review, I can’t comment on the service station, as I never had any vehicle serviced here. However, as a Chevron station, it serves its purpose. The station has plenty of pumps and has a small minimart with soft drinks, snacks, etc. And since this is Marin, you just might see a Ferrari getting gas. I give it a solid three stars because it doesn’t have a full blown AM/​PM store.

I thought I’d get an oil change over the lunch hour, so I did a quick search and found Cromwell’s. It was a good thing I had an hour because the change took about that long. Normally not a big deal – they’re not a chain with five people running around the shop, so I expect a little bit of a time lag. However, the time and quality of the service didn’t warrant the $ 50 charge, which included an oil/​filter change, and tire pressure check. Not that I wanted a vacuum or other detailing services, but c’mon, man? $ 50? Maybe the the oil prices here are truly representative of the global energy supply? Maybe. Anyway, I was happy they didn’t try to up-​sell me on blinker fluid or anything like that. But, I doubt I’ll be back.
