City of Novato

I went in to the City of Novato office building to pull a building permit for my kitchen remodel. I have to say after talking to my co-​workers and their experience at the City of Corte Madera and Marin County and the horror stories they told me about their experience I was a little apprehensive and was expecting to have a similar experience which I was not looking forward too. I had all my plans in order as they wanted them, took plenty of pictures of my kitchen to show them in case they had questions, I filled out all my permit information and was as well prepared as I could be.
I arrived at 9am on Monday when they opened, and there were 5 other people there already. The receptionist was very nice and she asked my how she could help me I told here what I was there for, she reviewed my permit application and she said great and have me another short disposal form to fill out and entered my information in the computer. I was then passed into the counter room where they had various folks there from the city, Permits, Planning, Code Enforcement, Public Works so they directed me to Permits. I sat down and with in 10 minutes was called up. I presented my packet to the Permit gentleman who was very nice and helpful. I told him what I was doing I showed him my plans and he said you have everything here so he took my 3 copies as requested stamped them and he asked me to wait a few more minutes for my permit! I was like that’s it! He said «yeap that’s it!» I felt like reaching over the counter and give him a huge but that would be totally weird, awkward and totally totally inappropriate lol so I shook his hand instead! I was so relieved that I had a great experience and felt like I all my hard work and preparation had paid off!
I walked out with my permit and ready to start working on our kitchen! Thank You City of Novato for making my permitting experience a very pleasant and enjoyable experience!!!

Had my daughter here all through elementary school and now my son is here for the fifth year. This is a very we’ll run aftercare center with great personnel. Mark, the leader, runs a tight ship.

Novato is another nice and quite city to live in. Nothing like the bay. I also have family that live here which I also visit a lot when I was a kid and spent most of my time here. Super hot in the summer and pitch black at night which requires you to drive with high beams (no joke) If you’re luck you’ll see deer run across the streets at night or early in the morning. Sometimes they’ll chill in your front or back yard. A lot of fond memories from when I was a kid :)
