Came here for the lunch buffet bar and was content with the options that they had. They offer fruits and salad and a variety of curries and vegetables. I love the strong spice flavors in all the dishes and the chicken drumsticks and butter chicken curry is moist enough.
The restaurant is clean with some cultural décor– outdoor seating is also available.
Be sure to ask for some naan to go with your meal.

Lovely find in Novato after an evening of furniture shopping! We were tired, we were hungry and we wanted Indian. So glad we found this place! The food is fresh and tasty! I got the veg thali and it was fabulous… saag paneer, daal makhni, aloo gobi and chole with naan and some salad. The thali has more than enough food for another meal. The kiddo got her standard paneer tikka masala and it was spot on! Hubby got the chicken dum Biryani and he thoroughly enjoyed it!
The staff are super friendly and welcoming. We will be back to try the buffet as well!

Consistently good food, at a reasonable (especially for lunch) price, friendly staff and it has a lot of patio space for al fresco dining too (dog friendly outdoors). Recommend the butter chicken and the rogan josh in particular.
Negatives — No delivery service, quite stuffy at night indoors.

Second time here. First time food was over-​salted, nearly unpalatable, probably a couple years ago. This time, the food was a lot better. So food-​wise, I’d give it 4⁄5.
Place closes at 9:30, and we got there at 8:30. I have worked restaurants in the past, in the past, so I know not to hang out long after closing unless I see a lot of people doing closing duties, staff telling me not to rush, etc — I get it, and go with the flow.
Tonite however, at 9:20, the bill is brought to us, plopped on the table, kind of passive-​aggressive-​evasively. About 9:25, the music is turned off. Our waiter who was wearing his uniform (shirt + pants) just moments ago, is now wearing shorts and a sweatshirt, asking me if he can take away my dishes.
9:29, still eating, music is off, kitchen/​front of restaurant is empty, waitperson (different guy, still in uniform) asks me if I’d like a to go container. At this point, we really even weren’t done eating or drinking, but I wasn’t going to fight them over it, just paid the bill, took it to go, chugged my 7 dollar glass of wine since I couldn’t enjoy, and left.
If they weren’t rude or pushy, we would have left at the same time (maybe 5m later, to try to just enjoy the wine). Food was good, but at $ 10-​$ 15 a plate that we weren’t allowed to enjoy, we won’t be back.

Buffet bar is great and the quality of the food is fantastic. I came in and got fish, veggie fritters and butter chicken with rice. Not sure of the proper names of these dishes, but everything was great — the butter chicken was my favorite! I also had some of the dessert balls to go. The service I received for my to-​go order was super accommodating.
Since the last Indian restaurant I went to had gluten free labels and dessert options at the buffet bar, it would be really cool if Batika could provide labels and maybe a rice pudding option for dessert in the future. But it won’t stop me from coming back.
I’m so glad I tried Batika, and I will definitely visit more often.

If it were just for the naan bread, it would be 5-​stars. And their chai tea makes me want to stand on the table top and cheer. This is the place to bring your vegan buddies: not only will they find food, but food they actually enjoy.
Service is very good: friendly and attentive, but not invasive.
I wish there were more menu choices, but what they do, they do well.
As the weather starts to warm up, the patio is a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner. Small interior can sometimes get crowded, but has a nice feel to it: cozy.

Batika does not look that promising from the outside. Be brave, push the door open. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised. I brought a vegan friend here. She said it was the best indian food she had had — very delicious flavors and not overly oily like some indian food. And how many Indian restaurants do you know that have an outdoor patio? Service is easy going and friendly. They bring you an assortment of indian condiments to enliven your meal. I especially loved the eggplant dish.

Ordered from the menu during our lunch, naan was excellent and paneer tikka masala and yellow dal was tasty and brought out hot… The service staff was attentive and pleasant. This was our first visit to the place. We are out-​of-​towners and will return when driving by again.

Ordered take-​out. Food ready on time. Paid. Left. Ate. Food was pretty tasty. Was content and looking forward to ordering again from here another day. Would’ve been a 5-​star review…
Fast-​forward a few days. Find out they added additional tip to my tab after the fact. This was my first order and experience with this establishment. I didn’t sit down to dine. The waiter kept me waiting while fumbling around for utensils for my take-​out meal. Being my first time here and not having been super impressed, I did my usual ’round up to the next dollar’ tip for a take-​out order. (Normally, I drop several dollars if it turns into one of my regular places.) Looks like the waiter decided to round it up four more dollars than what I left.
If I can’t trust this restaurant to complete the transaction I signed for, then I sure as hell won’t be coming back again. Might seem petty to some people, but altering a signed credit card receipt after the fact is likely against the law and breaking trust with a customer.
To be as fair as possible, food was pretty good though. I’ll allow an additional star. Experience left a bad taste though. Recommend paying these clowns in cash if you must come in.

We wanted to have a nice birthday lunch and treat friends and family. Batika did it all within our budget with their buffet lunch special. The restaurant staff took great care to make sure everyone in our party party of 15 had what they needed. They were extremely attentive but not overbearing. One friend uses a wheelchair and was able to navigate around without any problem.
Batika, thank you for making my birthday so special. You are the best.

We love indian food — and have missed the departure of Lotus on Grant. Very happy to have this addition, especially as a lunch place. Although the buffet isn’t quite as varied as others, everything i put on my plate seems to rapidly vanish… into my belly. The spices are fragrant, veggies fresh, curries perfect and the tandoori chicken demands for seconds… sometimes thirds (urp).
The wait staff is attentive and friendly but not annoying, and overall the prices are quire reasonable and a great value especially for the buffet.
We haven’t tried the dinner menu yet but will absolutely get to it soon!

Best chicken curry I’ve ever had. Certainly didn’t expect that. Every aspect of my meal was great. Service was prompt, ambiance was inviting. Can’t wait to check out their lunch buffet.

Great butter chicken & vindaloo! The basmati rice is consistently dry & bland. Naan isn’t the best but it’s seemingly made in-​house.

I mean, you can’t go wrong with Indian buffet. Affordable, tons of yummy food, what’s not to love? As far as Indian food goes it was okay. The naan was kind of doughy, and the tandoori chicken really didn’t have much flavor. It was okay, just not that flavorful. Maybe they’ve toned it down for the locals? Not sure. There are better Indian places out there. I remember the other Indian place on Grant having better food (it’s closed now though). But still, not a bad option for lunch.

Tandoori Chicken. I keep wanting to get the half order but once you start, you can’t stop. It’s the potato chip of poultry. And the plate gives you a lovely steam facial.
Most Indian Restaurants I’ve eaten in all have that same, single flavor. This place is different. If you traditionally don’t like Indian, give this place a try.
Once you figure out the menu, you will surely find favorites. In the mean time, just try something. Worked for us!
