Went here tonight and had the fried soft shell crab with a chili, watermelon and blueberry chutney. I have to say I could have eaten a bowl of that chutney. I also got the pimento mac and cheese and a roasted corn salad… all spectacular! I bought the pan sautéed liver for my lunch tomorrow and it smells heavenly. You can’t go wrong here, but the menu changes weekly.

Some of the best food in NOLA! Different menu weekly. Advice-get there early so they don’t run out of food. It is worth the trip! Will eat here every time I am in NOLA!

We really enjoyed our meal. It was kinda slow for a Sunday but the food was great and came out hot and quickly. We’ll definitely be back.

Amazing local spot! My boyfriend and I were visiting from Denver and saw the reviews so we decided to check it out. The food was crazy good, and really unique. As mentioned before, you could tell the chef really puts a lot of love into his recipes and was extremely friendly as well. The bar was a fun spot with a great patio, and the owners were extremely down to earth. Definitely a local gem!

I went to We’ve Got Soul on a Sunday for the first time. Listen to me: THISFOODISNOTFAIRTOOTHERFOOD. First, we got the chargrilled mussels with parmesan butter and cured egg yolk as a starter. I am not ashamed to admit that I used a mussel shell to scoop up a good deal of the liquid they arrived in, after we’d absorbed as much as possible with the tasty toast bits it came with. Next, I got the chorizo and rice stuffed banana pepper and my partner got the Nashville hot fried Cornish game hen as entrees. We got all four of the sides, because the thought of missing out on any delicious morsel from Chef Tres’ hands already filled me with a sense of despair and longing. Those were as follows: molasses and pecan glazed smashed fingerling potatoes; sauteed patty pan squash with pork belly, pickled watermelon rind and arugula; crispy green beans with Memphis dry rub; and the star of the meal for me: sauteed eggplant with roasted garlic, preserved lemon, and toasted benne seeds. I mean to tell you that shit was EPIC. I’m not even sorry for cussin’, I don’t know what else to tell you. The pepper with chorizo was tender and spicy, but not overbearing. The chicken was juicy and crispy and had the perfect amount of heat. Literally the only thing I can say about this meal that isn’t glowing praise is that the potatoes were a bit salty… And we still cleared our plates. Chef Tres is sweet, attentive, and genuinely takes pride in what he does. He is gracious and humble. Trust me, I never thought I would say the best meal I’ve ever had in my life came on styrofoam plates, but that’s exactly what happened. Sure, it’s a little spendy for bar food, but I’d have paid twice that.

We’ve Got Soul is absolutely incredible. Let’s start with the food… ughhh the food! It is always delicious, rich, and unique. I’ve had plenty of soul food in my life, but this place gives it a new meaning and some new flavor profiles. I’ve been more times than I have been able to keep track of, but last night I had the best green beans of my life. They were crispy Memphis dry rub green beans, and my girlfriend and I poured the leftover juice from our also amazing chargrilled mussels on them. The menu changes every week, but some all time standouts for me have been the pan-seared salmon, the lemon butter chicken thighs, and the root beer glazed pork chop recently. Those are entrees, but the sides are also where it’s at. The chef, Chef Trey, is incredibly nice and has always come to our table multiple times while we’re eating to see how things are going. Some of the best, friendliest service I have ever received. The ambience the bar this beautiful establishment operates out of, Carrollton Station, is laid back and has a very solid beer selection.

We love these guys. This past weekend we got married and decided to have our friends and family«welcome party» at Carrolton Station so everyone could try their awesome food. Everyone was going crazy and loved everything, especially those wings. Thanks so much for accommodating our large group and giving my out of town friends and family a great first experience with NOLA food.

We researched places to eat in Nola before visiting and this was one of our top picks. We went there on our first night in town and it did not disappoint! The ribs were smoky and plentiful. The fried duck wings were tasty and filling. We tried all four sides between the two of us and the fried green tomatoes and beet salad were our favorites. Definitely check this place out if you can!

Had a surprise find as the bar(Carrolton Station) to which this is attached isn’t known for such amazing food. Great Bar! But now they also have great food thanks to We’ve Got Soul! Chef Tres came by the bar to ask about my Amber Jack, Swiss Chard with chick peas and Cucumber and Feta Salad with Radish! Great neighborhood place with a great vibe and now some great food as well! Here’s Chef Tres’s Story:

Chef Tres is always cooking up something new and delish… Menu changes regularly but always is solid, recommend the chicken fried steak if it’s on the menu.

Great grub in one of my favorite bars in town. I was skeptical when it landed, because We’ve Got Soul replaced a tried and true(and cheap) bar kitchen turning out baskets of chicken tenders and fries. However, once over the shock I am all in for We’ve Got Soul. The menu changes weekly — which keeps things varied. You pick one of three mains and get two of four side items for the princely sum of $ 16. More than a chicken basket but so worth it. The food is excellent great flavor and a nice mix of the decadent(oxtail) to the moderately ok(mahi-mahi and salmon recently — of course with a touch of sauce to negate any nutritional properties). The sides are veggie heavy and creative with lots of ingredients you don’t see elsewhere. They also offer bar snacks that also rotate — which are a little more variable — sometimes hard to predict the size. A couple regular snacks that offer filling and cheap food wouldn’t be a bad addition(basic plate of nachos or something) but overall a great place to grab a meal.

Had a wonderful meal at the new location at Carrollton Station. Crispy Pigs Ears with benne seeds and pepper jelly glaze. Bourbon, Cherry & Molasses Braised Pork Belly. Both dishes where fantastic. Only complaint is seating is at a minimum since it’s sharing space with a bar. But that’s a minor complaint for food this good. Just consider it an adventure.

After moving to New Orleans almost 2 years ago, it still blows my mind that I can find the most delicious foods in the most random places. We’ve Got Soul is now a solid part of Carrollton Station, a bar in the East Carollton area. They serve up weekly rotating dishes Thursday through Sunday, usually from 5pm-midnight. During football season, if there’s an afternoon Saints game, they generally open up shop earlier too. My routine: Grab a drink from the bar, score a table outside in the fenced-in backyard area, and start crossing my fingers that We’ve Got Soul has Boudin Eggrolls on their bar menu that week. My mouth is watering now just thinking about them. Pork Chops and Brisket are more than enough to write home to mom about too.

This place is spectacular. A true hidden gem. Literally some of the best, freshest, tastiest food in the whole damn city hidden in the back of carrollton station bar. Loved it when it was a pop up downtown, even better now as a brick and mortar spot. Everything the chef touches is magic. Blackened catfish with a patty of herb butter melted on top? Hell yes.

Today was the second time We’ve Got Soul has been popping up at Jim’s. I had to work last week, but asked husband to pick up an amazing pork chop(I am Polish, pork chops are a national dish where I come from, and not even my mother made it this good). This week, I was finally able to dine in, and what a feast it was!!! My husband and I shared the green tomatoes with caper dill remoulade, chipotle pimento cheese and house made bacon. If I had just several plates of that, I’d be happy, as it was insanely good. For main, I had chicken and dumplings, with sides of butter beans and eggplant medallions. Everything was perfect and I think it was the first time ever that I actually drank the sauce(that the chicken was in) — it was too good to leave. Now before I talk about the dessert, let me say that I have somewhat of a bread pudding obsession. I have had bread pudding in 56 different places in New Orleans. Yet We’ve Got Soul managed to surprise me with a bread pudding different than anything I’ve ever eaten before. It was fluffy the way boiled cheesecake is, but at the same time it had texture that reminded us of scrambled eggs. It was not overpoweringly sweet — in fact less sweet than most. And it was *just perfect*. I don’t know what chef Tres adds to his food, maybe it’s that soul that is the mysterious ingredient. :) But I know I’m happy he’s back in town and if any of my friends visit on a Friday and don’t come with me there, I will consider it a criminal offense.
