I went to a prenatal class here the other night with a friend, and it was exceptional! The instructor(a nurse) was engaging as well humorous. I can’t tell you how many stories she told that captured everyone’s attention, got them interested, and even made them laugh! She said she had been a Labor and Delivery nurse for 50+ years! But of course that was because she began nursing at a very young age(less than 12). :). LOL Altogether, this gifted speaker made what I thought would be a very boring, matter-of-fact seminar into a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. They also had free refreshments, water, and a bathroom in the conference room they were using. It couldn’t have been better and I will definitely recommend their classes to anyone who is thinking about becoming or is already pregnant. They also had some classes about child-reading, etc. It all looks great! Go check out some free classes!

This hospital is focused on life. It may be premier for birthing. But if you’re dying, they will do nothing to improve the quality of life you have remaining. They are only concerned with meeting the minimum and trying to get you out of their hospital so your death doesn’t affect their rating. With the exception of 3 or 4 nurses, the nursing staff who was caring(caring is definitely being used loosely) for my grandfather was awful. There were nurses who laughed at his fits of dementia, made my grandmother sit on the floor, and were outright rude when refusing to bathe my grandfather. Moving him out of this hellhole and into hospice was the best decision we made.

Both of my daughters were born at Touro. The doctors are great, the nurses are great, and the rooms are second to none. We never have a negative experience… oh, and the food is good. BOTTOMLINE: New Orleans’s premier place for giving birth.
