I had officially made New Orleans my new home state and it was time to find a dentist there. I was referred to Cleopatra Thompson by a mutual acquaintance, and decided to give her a call and make an appointment. All seemed fine; she was thorough and made suggestions on a plan of care [which is why she gets 3 stars]. I had private insurance, she received payments, zero balance on the account — Everything was fine until… The New Year, when the new annual deductible was due. Being from New York, we do things like make an appointment, on appointment day you check in, you give them your dental card, they tell you how much you either pay ‘em or they bill you. Dr. Thompson refused to book an appointment for me til I paid her the $ 50 deductible(which was the only monies she had due to her). Of all my years with dentists, I had never experienced anything like it. Was this a Louisiana thing? I mean come on, $ 50.00, Forreal?!? I mean, this woman even got on the phone with me, and threatened to send my account to a COLLECTIONAGENCY. OHHELLNO!!! This woman is tripping over 50 bucks. This woman is a bad bad businesswoman, you were about to get paid how many hundreds of dollars from me that year. You forfeited all that, because remember insurance caps dental benefits at $ 1,250/annual(my insurance cap). So, the rest she would have been getting from out of pocket cost — A real dummy move if you ask me. She totally deserves ½ a star in the business dept. Bye Felicia! Btw, if you’re wondering, she got her lil $ 50.00.
