Spruce-Wallpaper, Fabric & Design

Cute stuff, but when I went in on Thursday not one of the three women at the desk looked up or greeted me. As I looked around one of them walked past me twice without acknowledgement. I had coming planning on buying one of their $ 130 runners and some fabric for pillows, but figured I’d save the money from somewhere where a customer is appreciated.

I love this shop and Nomita! She has done two high profile homes for me and hit it out of the park with both of them!
The first one was for a national sustainability and design conference in 2014. Her professionalism was on full display as she helped coordinate items from across the nation with my client’s and donors. Her concept for the home focused on clean simple design that highlighted not only the sponsors but local New Orleans artist.
The second home she did was a tiny house where she worked closely with me and my client two showcase the homeowners style via colors and texture as well as our commitment to healthy and sustainable furniture.
I would trust Nomita with my house anytime and you should too! :-)

I happened upon Spruce by chance when I heard they were one of the locations to purchase prayer flags during the recent visit by the Dalai Lama. I was really just planning to run in, get the flags and run out. I really did try to keep my blinders on but they have such awesome stuff that $ 100 later I was walking out with a bag full of stuff.
The selection of items is meticulously edited. I’m the type that gets overwhelmed when there are too many choices. The downside is that sometimes edited collections don’t speak to me because my aesthetic doesn’t match that of the person doing the editing. Not the case at all with Spruce. Everywhere I turned I saw something else that I wanted.
I’ve been thinking non-​stop about the removable wallpaper they had on display. And the permanent stuff was to.die.for. Too bad I’m a renter. Yes, wallpaper. Swoon.
Did I mention that Spruce carries Jonathan Adler? Double swoon.
The owner was working when I was there and she was the sweetest thing ever. They were actually out of the flags I was looking for but she made a number of calls in a attempt to track them down for me.

I wanted to update my review for Spruce because after posting it, the owners sent me a kind message and even offered me a discount. Looking back, it is absolutely not their fault that they had a rude woman as a customer. Honestly, I don’t know what the shopkeeper could have done as she was trying her best to please us both and I’m sure if she would have said something to the mean old lady she could have lost a sale as people like that are used to throwing their money around and never getting told not to be rude. She was very nice and accommodating to me and seemed awfully embarrassed by her rude customer. So, I added an extra star because they really have amazing things there and it’s a great shop that I would probably love if I hadn’t been made to feel like gutter trash by a snotty old lady. If the owner is reading this, I didn’t go back and take you up on the discount offer mainly because I was considering moving and didn’t want to invest in wall panels I might have to leave behind soon. Now I have a baby on the way and we are looking to buy a bigger place so I definitely have Spruce in mind and will be paying them a visit as soon as we find our new home!

This place has such amazing items. Just spending some time in here during a cold spell everyone fell in love with their fireplaces, and I was just enthralled by their wall garden. So many things you can’t find anywhere else, and helpful ladies to show you around.

So many pretty, pretty things. From full on home décor items, like 3d wall tiles to fancy dishes to make your table look pretty, this store has it going on. I really liked the wool/​rubber wall planter thingys.
Definitely on my list of places to hit up for an usual gift for shower or wedding.
