The place in New Orleans to get great food and excellent service. My favorite place for breakfast, the Guatemalan is always a favorite. The hash browns are to die for, along with pancakes, pain perdu(lost bread), and don’t forget the burgers. It’s a place to satisfy your hunger for food and a healthy dose of the culture of NOLA. The cooks are amazing in how they handle things when the orders are coming fast and furious. The staff are a great bunch of people who tend to their customers with a smile and pleasantries, even under stressful times. I’m born and raised in New Orleans, take my advice, go to Slims for a taste of NOLA.

Mediocre breakfast food with smug employees. The worst of it is just how plain dirty and unorganized this restaurant is. It’s filthy and so are the waiters. They look like the rest of the place as if they just rolled right out of bed, hangover and all. I keep going back hoping my opinion would change but it just doesn’t. I love a good dirty old dive bar but the difference is that I don’t eat at a dirty old dive bar. With the thriving metropolis of food and eateries that New Orleans has to offer, there is 0 reason why this place should be on a «must visit» list.

The choices were endless, so deciding was difficult. My waitress, Jennifer, made a few suggestions, and boy was she right on. I had the TexMex Slammer. Delicious! I certainly didn’t expect fresh salsa, but that and the fried plantains made the entire meal over the top awesome. My breakfast mates were also pleased with their choices, so we all had a little of everything. I can’t wait to go back. Maybe tomorrow?!

I LOVETHISRESTAURANT. I have been eating here since I was a kid. An Orleans slammer is the best cure for a hangover. However; I have a complaint that I want to be seen. Yesterday(Sunday) my friend an I drove from Metairie to eat brunch at Slims. The website said they would be open until 3. When we walked into the restaurant at 2pm we were awkwardly stared at by one of the staff members and told«oh, we’re closing. Because we’re slow.» The cooks were still cooking, and people were still eating. My friend and I drove all the way from METAIRIE. I shouldn’t HAVE to call a restaurant to see if they’ll still be open an hour before they close. If that’s the case, don’t advertise hours online. Completely unprofessional. But shout out to Katie’s for being open the same hours and sitting us at 2:30 while they close at 3!

I liked the breakfast — I just had the basic eggs but they were great. My cutie had the little goat omelette and enjoyed it. I would give the place five stars if it were cleaner, but I still recommend it. Cash only. Very fast service too.

Cash only! Slammers are awesome: hashbrown based with different things on each one(eggs, bacon, chili, crawfish, avacado, veggies, etc.) super casual diner, busy on weekends

Yum! I love places like this: home cooked food served by nice people. I stopped in here on my birthday morning to grab some yummy breakfast and since I had never been here(but had always wanted to try it) I considered it an adventure. We were seated at one of the booths on the side and the nephew of the owner was our waiter. You should know that this is a full on family place and Slim Goodies takes pride in the fact that they were one of the first places open and serving food after Katrina. I decided to get a pretty basic breakfast of eggs over easy, toast, bacon and grits. This seems to be my «go to» and I guess it’s because when I try a new breakfast place, I like to order something that I know can’t go too off the rails. Everything was cooked to perfection. I probably would have liked it if the toast wasn’t as «toasty», but I’ll just remember to mention that next time. Our waiter was super friendly and was full of personality, especially considering it was an early and rainy morning. He had his iPod playing a nice mix of tunes and made the entire experience really enjoyable. Next time I eat here I will definitely be a little more adventurous. CASHONLY.

Oh boy, this place is a hangover extraorinaire! When you walk into Slim Goodies, you are thrown back into a retro style diner right in the heart of Uptown’s Magazine Street. Come in and try the slammers, you will not be disappointed. I always try to get at least one sweet potato pancake with my order. If you get Brady as your server, you’re in luck! He’s super nice and will help you pick a classic if youre a first timer. Great spot to get breakfast, remember cash only tho!

Good coffee to start(hot and fresh), I ordered the Guatemalan which includes jalapeño black beans, salsa, two eggs and plantains and I added a side of crispy swine. Beans were great flavor, slightly spicy with the chunks of jalapeños but with a mushy texture that is not quite refried but close — loved it! Eggs are eggs when fried on a big grill, skipped the salsa and finished with the crispy bacon — don’t eat it lots but when I do… crunchy texture, not burned at all(sometimes it’s a gamble) and nice thickness. Great staff, quick, clean and courteous — slightly heavy music track. All in all a great breakfast!

There is only one reason I ever come to Slim Goodies: The Garden Slammer. Yes, the Creole Slammer is more well known and I’m sure there are lots of other things on the menu that are just as delightful and tasty. But for me, I’m stuck. I’ve gotta have the vegetarian chili smothered hash browns with eggs and fake bacon. I’m not even a vegetarian! But this stuff makes me crazy! Get it. The Garden Slammer. As for the rest, it’s a diner and it looks and feels just like… a diner. The only thing that ever irked me is the service. There’s nothing more joyous than coming to an establishment for a good meal only to be greeted and served by cool apathetic hipsters who you’d have to pay to crack a smile(and I’m not talking about a good tip, cause I’ve tried that too). I’m sure they’re very outgoing and attentive, just not when I’ve been there… ever… in eight years. But I suppose that’s part of what makes this place so hip, after all. Just go for the Garden Slammer! And tip your server. Maybe you’ll be the lucky one who gets to see a hipster smile.

A diner if there ever was one. Slim goodies offers quick, efficient service. Clean tables, good food… The menu is somewhat extensive albeit very regional. If you like crawfish étouffée on your eggs you will most likely like any single thing that they have on the menu. The hashbrowns are on point. Ask for Mike. He is handsome and a great waiter.

This a 5 star Diner! Service friendly and fun. Menu has something for everyone. We did Heavenly — waffle. Delicious and The Contractor — for the REALLY hungry — very good. Exceptional on the pancake! Mike was our handsome and attentive server — he was helpful w questions and draws a beautiful smiley face with whipped cream. Thanks Mike for being one more person that makes New Orleans so wonderful.

This place was recommended to me by a friend so I there was no reason to NOT go, right? We went to breakfast here one morning as it was recommended to us. We arrived bright and early and ready to eat. The place itself looks.old. Visually, it wasn’t very appealing. The front, décor, menus, etc seemed aged and not cared for much which made me worry slightly about our upcoming meal. We pushed on through though! I ordered the Tex Mex Slammer which came with a base of hash browns, black beans, and cheese mushed together(and I mean mushed) with toppings of avocado, salsa, sour cream, eggs, and plantains. The eggs were a few scrambled and tasted nice, the rest of the toppings(avocado, salsa, plantains, sour cream) all came in very small quantities. It was kinda odd. there just wasn’t enough of them. The base(hash browns, black beans, and cheese) was too large and quickly got boring as there wasn’t much flavor to it. After eating all the toppings, you’re just left with the mush underneath, which wasn’t too appetizing. Overall, I probably wouldn’t recommend this breakfast spot to anyone. I mean, it wasn’t bad but I didn’t enjoy the majority of my meal. The quantities were just way off. I would’ve love more of the top and less of the bottom but that wasn’t the case then. The poor appearance of the restaurant didn’t make up for the food either.

Little goat is my to go to, but the place is getting pricier. .. . The pecan waffle was a piece of cardboard disguised as a gorgeous waffle. The pecans were stale and the waffle batter had no taste. . no bueno, ayayay! I just want to emphasize: NOTASTE!!! Maybe I just went on the wrong day where they didn’t have decent waffle batter, and were out of fresh pecan.(Yeah, right!!! * judging eye brow lift*) I’m ok with that, as long as they keep«Little Goat» on the menu. It’s a busy, greasy, casual diner vibe that makes you feel like you belong here. It’s like«welcome back!» I love all the Polaroid pictures along the wall of previous patrons eating breakfast or bruch in the red booths. It really adds to the great vibe here.

Nothing pretty or fancy, just good old breakfast food fresh and fast. I’ve been trying to get into this place and it well worth the wait. It’s a definite that I will be back for breakfast again. If you don’t want to stand in line for some of the novelty tourist restaurants this place is prefect. Did I mention that omelet can feed a small village in Mogadishu. Any place that plays Hendrix and Tribe Called Quest has to get 4 stars for cool alone.

I really enjoy this restaurant. Something about sweet potato pancakes on a Saturday morning. I brought my parents here for breakfast, and they always remember the pancakes most. The sweet potato pancakes have a great cinnamon spice to them. The buttermilk pancakes are light and fluffy with those great crispy edges. The banana pancake is a monster that can include pecans if you choose. My «usual» there is a cup of coffee and the Orleans Slammer. Hash browns, chili, bacon, cheese, and two eggs how you want them. This last time there were jalapeños added to the mix, which I loved. Add a dash of Crystal and you’re good to go. My friend gets the Creole slammer: hash browns, eggs your way, all covered in crawfish étouffée. Sounds a little crazy, but it works, and if you’re choosing between that and the Bön Temps omelette, get the slammer. Ask for Mike, he’s very friendly, and he knows the city.
