Silk Road Collection

Gracious shop owner and beautiful imported items. It’s a delight that they are around the corner from my house. Their inventory is always changing. Home furnishings, art and objects from around the world can be found here.

Almost 2−½ yrs ago, my husband and I made our «Southern Roots» trip to visit that part of our country. He was born and raised there until his family relocated to CA; and, as a CA native, I had never been. It was great timing since I had been trying to locate a multi-​functional «end table» for our living room… something different and, preferably, a simple antique piece from China that would fit in well. After surfing the web, I located a black lacquered money chest with a touch of red on the edges at Silk Road Collection. It opened up at the top and could be used as storage. So, the timing was perfect for our trip, since New Orleans was 1 of our destinations. At that time, Silk Road Collection did not have a store front. Instead, we made an appointment and met the owner at a warehouse on the waterfront/​wharf. The money chest was perfect! Prior to shipment, Silk Road made a suggestion of placing a handle on the top cover… had us select the handle we wanted… and took great care in selecting someone who specialized in working with antique Chinese chests. It was packed well and arrived in perfect condition! I would highly recommend purchasing from Silk Road Collection.

If I felt right about docking a star for stuff being out of my price range, I would. There are so many beautiful items in here that I want that I can’t afford!
This place is home to some of the most interesting items I have ever seen in New Orleans antique shops. My husband and I dropped in here on a whim and I was stunned.
It had none of that usual antique shop old smell. It was clean and even though the furniture and items were obviously antique they were displayed with a sense of pride and attention to beauty. I swear I believe that items are positioned with care taken to how the light will hit them, and how the balance in the room will be percieved.
As I snaked through the six or so rooms of the shop, there was something in every room that made me say, «Wow.just wow.» I was actually speechless at the opportunity to be in such close proximity to some items. The $ 40,000 day bed stole my heart. I want it.
There was none of the usual piles of flea market trinkets that infest so many New Orleans «antique shops».
The gentleman who was there was so kind. He mentioned that they have free delivery even printed out some information about a piece that we were looking at.
Silk Road collection is a beautiful example of someone turning their passion and pride into a beautiful business.

Silk Road Collection’s owners must love their job. It shows from their great taste in quality furniture, appreciation for fluent customer service, to a wow-​factor packaging and delivery setup. Simply impressed with this company. Thanks, Donald and Robert, for my lovely bench. It will stay with me wherever I call home.

Having lived 7.5 years in Asia (Seoul, Republic of Korea and Tokyo, Japan), I have a warm spot in my heart for many things that are Asian. With the help of an able decorator, I am in the process of renovating and decorating a home in the North Carolina mountains.
I must say that never before had I ever purchased sight-​unseen an item as precious as I did from Silk Road Collection. Having confidence in my decorator, I transfered that confidence to Silk Road Collection. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was wowed.
I conducted the entire transaction from their website. Due to my schedule, subsequent communication was handled via e-​mail. Each time the owners clearly articulated expectations (e.g., packing, shipping, special considerations regarding my home) and were spectacularly accommodating.
I very much look forward to visiting their showroom next time I am in New Orleans. Meanwhile, I have bookmarked their website and will shop again with confidence.
