I came to NOLA for jazzfest and the best music and places were in the bars. This place on Monday nights is absolutely amazing. A jazz/swing band played and tore it up. It was crowded but it didn’t matter, everyone was having a great time. Highly recommend 10⁄10 would try again.

For generations Sidney’s Saloon was a bar that was infamously know for its drug happy clientele. Today Sidney’s is a sign of the new gentrification that has begun in the Treme/7thWard featuring all genre’s of live music, comedy, free food almost every night, amazing cocktails and a great bike friendly location. This bar shows the positive side of the changing we are seeing in the city, I will be back.

This is a pretty cool dive bar off in transitioning part of town. They have live music and usually have an eclectic crowd of people of majority hipsters eager to cut a rug. I’m way too un-hipster to fit in very well here but the dive bar groovy elements are definitely NOLA classic and worthy of visit and when you add in live local music then it is certainly a hot spot to check out. So even if you are un-hipster and will be too uncool for school here just say«hrumph» and get over it and make the hipsters jealous with real classic and vintage prep style like I do as I’m always going to dress like it’s still the 1980’s and sometimes like its the 1780’s.

A gem my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of stopping into during our visit. Bartender was friendly and inviting. My girlfriend got a frozen drink that was incredibly delicious.

Sidney’s had the excellent taste to host a trio of great local acts. It had the largess to eschew a cover, the generosity to poor stiff drinks and the largess not charge much for them. I enjoyed my night.

Came here the other night with DJ Heatwave on the ones and twos. Side note: If your friend invites you to go dancing at HEATWAVE!(an all-vinyl dance party spinning Motown/Garage Rock/R&B/Soul/Oldies), do it. I was reluctant because I greatly enjoy a good booty shakin’ dance party with some Missy Elliott and the latest dub-stepping jams(I think I’m a professional dub-stepper around 2:30am, just an fyi) but Ann Glaviano KILLED it and everyone was shaking their everythings. As for the bar, do I love the neighborhood at night? Not really. I think there should be a door person or some form of security at the door. I’m sorry if there was after I arrived and I just didn’t see it, but I think it’s naïve to think that there shouldn’t be a door person, at night, in most parts of New Orleans. With that being said, I had a really, really fun time! The bar is intimate and accommodating. I don’t think I ever waited that long at all for a stiff drink or a cold beer that didn’t break the bank. The dance floor is JUST the right size to get you dancing with everyone and feel comfortable disappearing into a mass of gyrating hips and twirling arms. Plenty of space to sit down when your dogs get tired, and a little alcove to hang out if you’re into talking and not dancing… I’ll never understand those types. I’d definitely come back here for HEATWAVE to get groovy with my gals, ’cause when it finally gets cold, you’ll want to get on that heat… wave.

Here’s a tip: maybe don’t yell at your bar guests in front of other people just because you lack the communication skills to properly explain your card reader and we didn’t understand. And when your guest blanches at your childlike outrage, including snapping, clapping, and yelling some more, maybe you shouldn’t follow up by loudly complaining about drunk people to everyone in the bar. First off we were entirely cognizant. Second it shouldn’t matter because you work behind a bar. In New Orleans. I get it you’re from New York, but that’s not how we do things here. And mostly you just screwed yourself out of money.

F’ing rad bar to end your night w/amazing bartenders(esp. Mr. Steel), cheap drinks and great setup for dancing or just hanging outside to shoot the shit. Owner is anawesome dude with a good heart and plenty of bizarre yet believable stories to boot. Swing by when you need a break from Frenchmen st.

This place is FUN! Great bartenders that like to chat, the owner is awesome and has amazing stories, and cheap stiff drinks. It looks like it’s really coming into it’s own, the space looks great and the jukebox is sweet. I was just visiting but felt like home here, enough to get drunk two nights in a row. Any night where you end at Sidney’s is a good night! If you’re lucky a regular will come in with leftover deep fried bacon wrapped oysters — YUM!

Great place, nice people and you get to see something else then the French Quarter. There was a huge block party across the street while we where there. Loved the place

Great drink prices, friendly staff, and an all around good spot for a drink if you’re in the neighborhood!
