Begun by a core group of local bloggers, The Rising Tide Conference is an annual conference that is meant to bring together people who are involved and concerned with the betterment of New Orleans. Every year different panels are held on various topics from environment to social media and a wide range of issues are discussed. There are also speakers of local interest who discuss how we can connect to improve the functionality of our city.

Another year… another great Rising Tide. For the 2nd year in a row, Xavier has kindly hosted the event and it was great to have a group of Xavier students mixing in with the group. The 2 keynotes were excellent: Lawrence Powell and Lolis Eric Elie. The discussions and panels were thought provoking… if a bit depressing, especially the Black & White & Read all over on which ended mad everyone sad regarding the Times-Picayune’s current state. Lunch this year was provided by Juan’s and they were highly efficient in their distribution and customizations and delicious. Thanks again to Unilocal for being a sponsor!
