5 stars for the work and the artist. 2 for the staff(though it was while ago…) A number of years ago — like 2007 or 2008 — I purchased a lovely print of Mr. Sahuc’s. Now that I think of it — has the gallery relocated? Was it on Royal? Or Chartres? Regardless, it featured Mr Sahuc’s work that I really enjoy. Unique views of a unique city. Less fun was the staff and the tall tale explaining how the photograph I selected, inside the Cabildo, was of the location where Napoleon signed something or another. A man who never came to the US(unless my grasp of US History is failing me…). I just smiled and nodded because I knew the photograph was coming home with me. Regardless, Mr. Sahuc’s work is lovely and I look forward to returning one day and finding another piece for my home. And maybe bringing home another tall tale from bored gallery staff — maybe that’s just part of the charm of New Orleans.

Terrific photography that focuses — no pun intended — on the French Quarter and Jackson Square. The prints are signed and numbered, so they’re all part of a limited edition, unlike some other galleries that crank out prints of lower quality and higher quantity. Definitely worth a visit. Near Café du Monde.

This is a lovely photo gallery located right in the heart of Jackson Square. The work of Louis Sahuc is featured throughout the gallery, Louis has been a photographer since 1972, and here you can buy originals and prints of his work in all sizes. His lovely art varies from pictures of New Orleans during a hard rainstorm, to St. Louis Cathedral in the fog and the people of New Orleans. What I like about Louis Sahuc’s work is that it isn’t typical New Orleans photography. Yes, there are pictures of the architecture of the city, but his work seems to contain more heart than some of the other work I’ve seen. I feel like his pictures are meant not only to appeal to tourists, but to find homes with locals as well. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in and check it out.
