Large store but for the size of the store the collection of vinyl was smaller than I expected. They did have a rather larger section for tapes, CDs, DVDs, and clothes. There were two rows of new vinyl, randomly selected sale items, and a lot of used records. Prices were pretty normal for vinyl. The staff was not very friendly.

It gets 4 stars if for no other reason than that it’s the last surviving member. I was finally able to replace the t-shirt I ruined my freshman year of high school. Is it the great store of the 80s? Absolutely not, thanks to iTunes/Napster/Spotify. They have vinyl. Its pricey. Everything in here is. But been to an Allman Bros concert lately? Expensive as hell, wasn’t it? And it’s not even the original band. Give this pace props. When it’s gone, it’s GONE!!!

I loved the atmosphere here. I’m a bit of a vinyl nerd, and I frequent the local music shops back home in Indianapolis(shout out to Luna!). However, I was excited to visit Peaches when I came across it while in New Orleans. I purchased a Ray LaMontagne album here as well as a few tshirts and some stickers. The staff was so friendly and helpful! I could have spent all day here.

I vividly remember my first impression of Peaches. I was utterly stunned. Besides Amoeba in San Francisco, it’s the largest store I’ve ever stepped foot in. A two-story tower filled with records, bustling tourists and inviting décor. However, record stores are for records. And after my third visit a few days back, Peaches has really distanced itself from the top of the leaderboard. I found plenty of noteworthy records, several I would’ve added to the collection. But like most others who nag on Peaches, it’s difficult not to discuss price. About 90% — 95% of the records here are overpriced. Which means I could search Amazon, visit an artist’s online store or head to any other record store across the country and find it considerably cheaper. I’m not a stickler. I’m not the type to storm out of a record store because of an overpriced record. Nevertheless, I ended up buying a Bob Dylan 7″ single and an Arctic Monkeys 10″ EP. This ran me $ 41 after tax. In the vinyl world that’s simply unheard of. But I was on the vacation, so I took a bite(or two) of the bullet. Most of the staff are friendly and will carry on striking conversations with you about bands or hot spots of New Orleans. But you can tell they’re trained to act like car salesmen. Every two minutes, you’ll have an employee ask you, «Do need help finding anything?» I believe I speak for all vinyl-lovers here that when you’re searching through stacks of records, you want your privacy. Ahem. Peaches will see my face many more times, but hopefully I’m a millionaire by then, because the bank has already been broke.

While I liked the layout and some of the selections at this place, it was mostly a disappointment in terms of overall selection and price. I typically shop for soundtracks and old metal on vinyl, neither of which were in large supply here. The soundtrack section was thin, and the few titles they did have were the unpopular stuff no one buys. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating, though.

Realistically I would give Peaches Records 3 – 3 ½, but because of records stores disappearing over the years I’m gonna go ahead and round up. This place is one of the more overpriced record stores I have ever been to, and I am an avid record collector while my boyfriend has basically made it part of his weekly routine(we live right by Amoeba & Rasputin in the Haight, SF). We bought one record(Siouxsie & The Banshees) and I bought a onesie that is adorable. I really wanted a Peaches Records t-shirt for myself, but $ 25 is where I draw the line unfortunately.

RUDE. If I could give 0 stars I would. I regret the $ 4 I spent on vitamin water. The cashier was more interested in her hip conversation about vinyls with the customer in front of me. When it came to be my turn, she couldn’t have made it more clear that I was thoroughly inconveniencing her, and nearly threw my change at me and walked away when the transaction was complete. My friends were cheerfully browsing for Christmas presents, but followed my lead when I stormed out due to the terrible customer service I experienced. Truly a shame, since the gentleman that was helping us with books and records in the front of the store was very helpful and polite. There would have been a sale if it wasn’t for your terrible cashier.

The store has a pretty good selection, and the guy behind the counter was super nice and helpful. We had a fun time looking through their selection, and there were a couple of records that they had that were special editions that were never released directly to consumers, which was exciting. My friend bought a CD for $ 10 that he was pretty excited about. About the prices: This is a business in the French Quarter. I expect it will be more pricey then other stores. At the same time, as a consumer, I think it’s important for either 1. myself to be informed about the prices that items cost or 2. myself to know how much I’m willing to pay for an item to support a local store. The prices that I saw weren’t out of line, and I saw a few deals. Overall, my friend and I had a fun time in the store, and we both left happy. The staff was professional and friendly, the space was fun to be in, and they were well-stocked. He is definitely a music snob who is well-educated on the artists he likes and how much he is willing to pay for albums, and he’s the person who recommended we visit the store, so I’m assuming he wasn’t shocked by prices.

Peaches back in the 70’s was the store you went to for Records & Tapes. Also they had great in store meet & greets. Then one day they were bankrupt. Now I’m not sure if this place is part if original chain or not but glad to have them around to keep selling music. I’m sure you will find something you want so browse around or grab a shirt. Do something to help keep this store alive.

What?!? It’s how much?!? No. no way… You serious? Yeah. no… An example… We found Against Me is Reinventing Axel Rose on vinyl for $ 90?!? When you can find it for under $ 20. That’s a what?..400−500% mark up?! I’ll pass. Also brand new vinyl was priced at $ 40(You can find the same exact record for $ 20 at Domino) It’s been a few hours since we were actually in the shop and my husband and I are still in shock.

Two and a half stars. Overpriced goods, with a feel of Urban Outfitters meets Tower Records. Wandered in here hoping to find something reminiscent of Amoeba Music, but ended up browsing the non-vinyl selections halfheartedly and examining hipster key caps near the café up front. Background tunes at the time didn’t grab me, but I’m sure it floats someone’s boat. Honestly, I’m not sure if they’d survive without reasonably friendly staff and location in the tourist shopping hub.

Ridiculously overpriced. I was looking for some CDs but could find nothing at all in a reasonable price range. Everything I found was $ 20-$ 25. I was looking for something to take back from New Orleans, but the salesperson seemed offended when I inquired about anything on sale. That said, they have a remarkable vinyl collection.
