Dinner cruise staff was very friendly, music was very nice and the Mississippi River sights were nice The food was terrible we are in New Orleans You would think they could find a chef that could cook. Red beans and rice over cooked Chicken dry, Jambalaya no taste I did not have the stomach for desert

We walked up to the ticket booth and asked what they were. They said a dinner jazz cruise. They had three tickets left. We took two of them. We left 4 minutes later. For a random decision on a Saturday night, the Cajun Queen was a fun and interesting look at night time on the Mississippi River. Billed as a ‘jazz dinner cruise with dancing” it was a little of each. Dinner was buffet, cajun style, and was pretty good, though a non-tourist might disagree. the jazz ensemble played in the dining cabin for kind of a brief time, then headed up to the top deck; dancing never really took place, and the second of three floors never really opened. The upper deck was a good spot to enjoy the stiff drinks from the bartender and watch life on the Mississippi. It truly is a working river, because for every paddle boat we passes we also eased by enormous cranes loading scrap medal into barges and huge cargo ships moving goods into storage positions along the river. The music up top was ok, but not the jazz we had expected. It was more«When the Saints Go Marching In» than a local jazz band. They weren’t great, but they were pretty good. Though the requests for audience singer participation got a bit trying as people got a few drinks too deep. Overall a nice way to spend an evening and see the Mississippi at night.

This is a very relaxing way to take in the Mississippi when it gets too darn hot to walk the streets of the quarter. There’s not really much to look at. But the historical aspect of riding a paddle wheel boat on the river is so Mark Twainish, you’ll want to plop a straw hat on your dome and play poker with the other riders. Remember, you gotta know when to fold ‘em.
