New Orleans Inn

It is difficult to describe perfection, but allow me to try. I stayed here during New Year’s Eve because all of the downtown hotels were fully booked, and this was the only place that was going to be even remotely affordable. I believe this cost me about $ 300 for the four nights versus the $ 1100+ I was looking at in the French Quarter.
Situated under a bridge in an industrial part of town, 5 miles away from the Quarter, The New Orleans Inn offers scenic views of abandoned warehouses, cranes and parking lots. The local townspeople are some of the friendliest vagrants and sex workers I have ever met.
Check-​in was a breeze and took place through a glass window beside a flashing «OPEN» sign. Upon checking into my room, I did a cursory inspection of the floor using a flashlight, and was not disappointed: the small bits of charred glass I found had that unmistakable «broken meth pipe» vibe, along with dead insects of various description, and a unique bouquet that can only be described as a mélange of death, mold, and freshly cut grass.
The décor was welcoming and even featured blood drippings on the wall, flanked by unknown yellow drippings that were truly the hallmark of a talented splatter artist. The bathrooms were well-​appointed, with towels that have been washed enough times to be the texture of sandpaper, a single wrapped bar of soap, and a drain that had a neat feature where you can stand in a pool of water that reaches your ankles by the end of the shower.
A cab downtown was $ 15. All told, staying here saved me a ton of cash, and for the low prices around special events, if you’re not squeamish and/​or need a place for a rendezvous with an escort, this is the place.

OK, stayed here for a week, My last time in town. I was right off the quarter, in a quiet clean room. I had internet, and expanded cable, and parking right in front of my door. The staff were all very nice. And they accommodated my extra long stay, as I kept adding nights to it. I will be back. This place was very reasonable for the french quarter area.
