Fred Johnson is engaging, knowledgeable, professional, and trustworthy. His classes should be taught in every high school and college because this information is invaluable. They do not push you to become a homeowner, instead they provide you with all of the information necessary to make decisions and to ask questions. I recommend every first time home-buyer take his class whether they are going to apply for soft seconds or not.

The Neighborhood Development foundation is one of the places in the city to take a first-time homebuyer’s 12 hour course. Since I knew next to nothing about buying a house(What is escrow? Amortization?), I decided to take the course. For $ 60, we met for four sessions and NDF brought in various people to go over certain things. There was a lender, appraiser, inspector, realtor etc. Who knew so many people were involved in buying a house? This course is required to qualify for an FHA loan and helps low to moderate income people buy their first home. Some of the stuff wasn’t useful to me(my credit is very good, don’t need to learn about how to up my score) but overall, I walked out feeling a lot more knowledgeable about one of the most confusing and frustrating process I’ve ever gone through. AKA purchasing a home, which I am in the process of doing right now! NDF is run by Fred Johnson, who was really helpful. He met with me for me pre-counseling session at 7:30 on a weeknight because my schedule was so hectic. This is a great organization that sincerely tries to help people on the road to homeownership. I really enjoyed hearing from all of the presenters, even if you aren’t going for an FHA loan, it is worth the effort if you’re buying for the first time.
