I’ve worked here for 3 years now, not sure why I’m reviewing it given you need a NASAID to get on site but what the hell. The long and short of it: 1. MAFPD. These guys are anal. Seriously, watch your speedometer while you’re driving. I’ve got 2 tickets for doing 34 and 32 in a 30. Yeah, 32 in a 30. Not that it really matters, the tickets only count towards MAF(though if you get too many you lose your right to drive on facility). 2. Coast Guard Exchange. Tax free, at cost booze. I’ll say that again. Tax free, at cost booze. Also tax free electronics, so if you’re in the market for an iPad you can save about $ 80. 3. Coast Guard Cafeteria. Decent food at cheap prices. Made to order omelets in the morning for $ 2.55 and a choice of 2 entries and sides for lunch for $ 5.55. Don’t bother going on steak day, even if you’re early the coast guard members have priority and they always run out. 4. Gym. Pretty run down and outdated. You can still get a workout for free, but it’s not much to brag about. Every once in awhile you might spot a movie star or a gator but besides that there’s not much to see here. But I’m as biased as they come on this place at this point. Have fun working here! Overall Grade: D

Top notch security. Okay gym; I’ve seen better. Kinda cool that movies are made on this base though!
