Had lunch on New Year’s Day here. The food was tasty! Good service. Less of a line than other local spots. Homey atmosphere and menu. Substitute the fries for rice with gravy and you won’t regret it. Delicious! I usually don’t write reviews but couldn’t get why this place has only 3.5 stars.

The seafood gumbo in this little hole in the wall was excellent! Real crab and mucho flavor! A must stop for brunch! The French toast was also excellent and my wife enjoyed her omelette! Others in our group really enjoyed the hot cakes

This is a quintessential Quarter diner for me. It’s a must visit for breakfast every time we visit New Orleans. I’ve had the most perfectly poached eggs every time. Nothing fancy, just classic diner breakfast fare done right.

Sometimes you need a good ol’ southern breakfast. Often times, you require such a breakfast after a night of drinking. These things tend to go hand in hand in New Orleans. Mena’s is a place the people I were with suggested we go to. It’s small but still manages to fit a numerous amount of tables. There is also a bar, because everywhere in NOLA has a bar. Our waitress was very nice and very quick. The menu is basic. 2 eggs with sausage, ham or bacon. Omelets. French Toast. Hot cakes. I got the combo with 2 eggs over easy with sausage and grits. The grits were absolutely delicious. The sausage was just okay. The eggs could have been slightly better. The coffee is decent but not hot enough to my liking. They do refill your mug before you hit the bottom, though. Prices are relatively cheap. TVs are situated all around so you can see what’s going on in the world while you eat. Not a bad spot to grab breakfast but there are better places out there.

Great find. Owned by Greeks so have some Greek items on menu. We all ate the Cajun Tasso with eggs over medium over home fries. Wow. And the bloody Mary’s are great. The bartender is friendly. Gets busy for lunch. But a must try if you’re looking to get away from the crowds.

Really long wait for food, surly waitresses, and don’t expect to receive all the food that you ordered. Overpriced for what it is, bland and tasteless. Never going back to this place

I was hanging out in the French Quarter with a friend who went off to explore on their own and found this place. We went back for lunch on a Saturday and it was one of the few places in the French Quarter that didn’t have a line nor was it filled with ridiculous tourist lures. This is a very basic place — not huge and with simple décor, limited booze selection. My partner and my friend each ordered the gumbo since they’d never had gumbo before, it was really tasty. There were shrimp, sausage, and whole softshell crab floating in it and the flavor was great. Served over plain white rice, there’s no need to make this fantastic dish fancier. I had a shrimp po-boy. I was initially unsure since it cost $ 10 and the menu didn’t clarify if the shrimp were local or not. Once they sat this 10″ long sandwich that was piled high with so many fried shrimp that they were falling out of it in front of me however, I felt just fine about the price! On top of that, it tasted amazing — great batter and seasoning on the shrimp. I also added some hot sauce. I honestly haven’t been able to find a better shrimp po’boy since and that’s a bit of a bummer since I don’t live in New Orleans. Judging by other reviews, this place is best known for breakfast. I’d love to try the breakfast but I was really impressed by the extensive lunch menu and our selections. I wanted to deduct points for service since the all-female wait staff were some of the grumpiest, non-talkative women I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, but it was lunch on a Saturday in New Orleans and I’ve worked in the service industry before. Nothing can destroy your smile quicker than a busy lunch shift dealing with tourists, so I’ll let all that slide and just remember the food fondly.

Delicious breakfast. Large portions at a fair price. Interested to try lunch and dinner. Right next to the Marriott on Canal street. Literally a 2 minute walk if you’re gazing at random things on both sides of the street. We will definitely be eating here again on our next trip.

This is one of those places I really hate reviewing because I’m going to have to give it an excellent review and more people will come and more people will love and it’ll get more crowded… vicious circle :) Seriously. The breakfast here was very good, prices very good and right in the French Quarter. I had the breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese and bacon on french bread. OK, this was a splittable sandwich, really. I coaxed my partner into eating some of it but his breakfast was even larger. He had two eggs, 4 peices of toast, a large hunk of sausage and hash browns. Everything is made to order and with nothing was prepared food from Sysco! We left FULL and saved $$ that day because lunch was out and dinner was light, so when you get some food and you pay a good price and you eat everything because it tastes good and end up full then that is value! We will definitely come back and try lunch too.

It’s a small place that fills up fast but the omelets are so worth it. The hash browns aren’t what I’m used to in Texas, but they are delicious! Overall, worth the wait when it’s busy and the food is amazing.

I was a bit disappointed with Mena’s. Unlike some of the other patrons, we just wanted burgers, fries and soft drinks. The first let down was that they only cook the burgers well done. The patty tastes like it is frozen, with no flavor… so we added bacon. The fries are at an extra cost, and they are un-seasoned and soggy. The whole plate was not what we expected for $ 40 for two people. If you ever go to Mena’s, just stick with their specials. The other tables seemed happier with the traditional NOLA food.

We both had the baked lasagna for lunch and it was a large portion served on a bed of red sauce which was kind of sweet and hearty. We found it different than the sort one gets up north. It had a unique type of sweet and savory to it which made us want more. It had greed olives, artichokes, and was out of this world. I highly recommend going here while you are visiting New Orleans. The atmosphere is homey, and cozy.

The only place you’ll need to have breakfast in NOLA! Eggs cooked to perfection, staff were super friendly and the people that come here are a mix of locals and tourists looking for actual breakfast. Only thing I wish, is that we found it sooner as we stumbled upon it on the last morning of our stay! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a decent greasy breakfast feed!

Recommended to come here by the locals, their Pepper Mary(Bloody Mary) is must-try. Came here for brunch. While located in the middle of the French Quarter, it doesn’t feel too touristy. It’s pretty busy but people come and go quickly, very little waiting time. Brunch menu has decent selection of eggs /omelette /sandwiches, food came out very quickly as well. We had Egg White Omelette with Vege and Cajun Tasso Omelette, both pretty good. It’s pretty fine place, if you are looking for a good Bloody Mary and decent place, it wouldn’t get wrong here.
