Great looking examples! Easy to drop a couple of G’s in here. Mid-century fans will carefully plotz over the quality of the finds. Poor schlubs like me will have to keep dumpster diving and cross fingers for a lucky estate sale.

Loisel has a great selection of high quality mid century furniture. I purchased a set of two armchairs and a small table and am very happy with my purchase. There were several other items I found of interest but did not ultimately purchase.

This space has been a variety of vintage themed furniture stores for some time. It’s newest incarnation is decidely more upscale with great mid-century modern pieces. Some are reproductions(think Design within Reach), but if they are, they are clearly labeled as such. They also sell artwork and vintage furnishings. I couldn’t believe that they had a complete tea/coffee service in my grandmother’s original pattern from the 1930s… see my photo( ). I’ve never seen her pattern look so blue! Prices are reasonable & the staff is helpful but allows you to browse.

I have the hardest time leaving Loisel Vintage Modern once I get inside. This is the best authentic vintage furnishings shop in the city, and probably the best in the region. With all the knock-off«retro looking» shops popping up, it’s refreshing to walk in a store where they have authentic vintage pieces that have a history of their own. Their turnover rate for merchandise is high, hence there are always lots of new things when I go. I have found out the hard way, if you see something there you like, you had better grab it fast due to its scarcity. F.Y.I…This is not a «thrift» shop. Thrift stores mostly sell junk, with the occasional treasure(if you are educated enough to spot it.) Loisel Vintage Modern charges the prices they do because their pieces are well worth it. Also, mentioning this just for fun: I’ve seen more than a couple celebrities shopping there. I guess they appreciate the prices compared to what they have to pay in L.A.
