I stumbled into this little store almost accidentally while shopping on Royal. I’ve been into absinthe for years, having smuggled bottles of the potent green stuff back in my suitcase upon returning from Europe. My method of drinking it was to pour a glass of absinthe, fill a spoon with sugar, dip it in the absinthe, light the sugar on fire to let it caramelize, then stir into the glass and slam it. Not exactly civilized I suppose, but this is how I learned to drink it in Prague. Now that absinthe is making a come back, it has become clear to me that drinking absinthe this way is not even close to correct… Thanks to this store, I now have the complete set up for proper absinthe consumption, albeit at a price. I purchased a complete set up, including a dual spigot water fountain, complete with winged angel holding up the reservoir, proper absinthe glasses(with embossed Fleur de lys) and proper absinthe spoons. I also purchased a really awesome silver balancier(look it up on Google, absolutely mesmerizing to watch it work) as well. I can’t wait to break everything at my next party. Great selection of both replicas and antiques(be prepared to spend some SERIOUS cash for these — the real ones can be anywhere from 10x to 40x the price of the replicas due to rarity). Lots of selection and a neat little absinthe museum in the back as well.
