So glad this parade changed it’s name back to the Krewe of Boo from the shortlived Krewe of Halloween, rhyming is so much better. Things I liked in the 2014 parade: * All the marching groups(from the Cherry Bombs to the Muffalettas to the 610 Stompers) who looked to be having a great time. * Cheewees as one of the signature throws * Parade on the edge of the French Quarter * Good looking, scary themed floats Things I didn’t like: * Corporate themed throws * Throw packages so there wasn’t any variety to the throws Still it was fun and I got to take my aunt & uncle and out of town friends, who were very entertained. Plus I impressed them with my ability to snatch a praline out of the air. Bonus points for the gorgeous weather this year.

It was very short I would say roughly 12 strong floats. It was a good introduction to that mardi gras season next yr. Its also a good reason to get out and dress up into evil demonic people or God himself. Lol!

Exceptionally disappointing this year. Seems the younger Kern decided all those little beads and trash were a bad thing so had them all throw food(and get corporate sponsorship and put on a smaller parade). So instead of easy to clean up beads, the waste was wrappers thrown all over by families who were gorging themselves with candy as fast as they caught it. It also meant the obese girl who came half an hour after us was doubly desperate to catch as much as she could. That meant she constantly ran out in front of people just to get her fix. Poor Girly could barely get a photo that didn’t have her jowls in it. Couldn’t stop her because sheer mass meant she could barrel through a crowd like a juggernaut. She was breathing hard and sweating and was almost crazed. Her father grabbed a McDonald’s bag full of leftover food and garbage and dumped it out so she could fill it up after her backpack was full. It really made us sick to see how desperate people were while littering worse than any bead parade I’d seen. What was on the ground more than anything? Fruits they were handing out. People tossed them over their shoulders as fast as they got them. And the advertising? I caught 4 cups. Only kept 2. Not one had a Halloween theme. All were adverts from sponsors. Sad Halloween Parade is sad.
