Great wine store! The epitome of personal service. Vast selection of wines in a deceptively small retail space. Delightful price points too. I didn’t have to spend a mint to score a delicious Gruner Veltliner recommended by Sara/Sarah. She was both professional and approachable and created a great shopping experience for me. Free off street parking on Magazine Street is a plus! I’ll be back!

I traveled to NOLA to celebrate my 30th birthday, and was searching for a large format bottle of champagne for the occasion. I contacted Ric at Hopper’s, and he immediately replied to my request. He had the perfect bottle of champagne for us(6L Methuselah!) and at a very reasonable price. I was concerned about being able to pick-up the bottle and get it to our restaurant in one piece, so Ric delivered it for us at no extra charge! He was so kind and helpful. And made my birthday one I will never forget. I will definitely head to Hopper’s when in NOLA again. Thanks a million, Ric!

The owner of this store, Rick, deserves five stars. The store itself is just another wine store, but he’s amazing. I’m often intimidated when walking into a liquor store because my palate is still in the refining phase, so to have someone understand that and not be snooty about their knowledge but help me and my wife find some very good affordable bottoms was very impressive. I told him previous wines I had tried and liked and price range I was looking to stay in, and he gave recommendations that certainly weren’t upsells but definitely fit the bill. As a couple of customers percolated in, he told he employee to open up a couple of bottoms and had an on-the-spot tasting. Please make this your go-to wine store, because business owners like this need to be patronized.

I like this place for a lot of reasons. First and foremost, free wine tastings every Saturday!!! And you pour yourself. The wines available for sampling are first rate and very interesting. The selection for sale is nice too. Hopper’s is not a huge place so the selection is a little small. And most of the wines are on the pricey side. But there are a decent amount of inexpensive selections though, just FYI, the lowest is probably about $ 10 and there are very few of those. The selection of wines from Burgundy is awesome. So check it out on Saturday and get some nice free wine.

I love this place! The people that work there are so friendly and knowledgable and their selection of wine is really admirable. My friends take me there whenever I visit and I really wish we had a Hopper’s Carte des Vins in Atlanta!

I had read about Cartes Des Vins in the newspaper a while back about a special testing they were having. I couldn’t make it that day, so I ‘liked” them on Facebook to keep track of their tastings. Today, I was in the area and decided to stop in. They were having a tasting of 3 French wines and a sparkling white wine from Spain. I ended up buying a Cotes du Rhone I would have passed on the shelf if I hadn’t tasted it first. I was impressed with their wide selection of French wines. I was surprised at how modest the prices were. I guess that’s the advantage of visiting the source. When I’m in the area, it is worth stopping back in.

Loved the selection and that I was asked if I needed help and then left alone. The tag line is accurate in that there were unusual bottles here, that I haven’t seen elsewhere. It is a small store but well stocked. My only problem is with the parking lot. I feel like the pinkberry people want me to run them over and that if I left my car here while I picked up the one thing I needed from another store, I would get towed.

Cartes Des Vins is a small marvel. Ready to dip your toes in the wide river of French wines? This is your place. If there’s a serious oenophile in your life, they’ll enjoy the selection and more importantly, the vast knowledge of the owner, Rick. Imitate, unassuming and friendly is the vibe whenever you shop here. There’s weekly tastings and a room that can be reserved for small parties.

Have to agree that this place is weird. What was also weird was the way this parking lot is patrolled by both security guard & proprietor who tap on your car window if you don’t jump out of your car right away and go into one of the shops.

This is for the Magazine location. Don’t let the schmancy exterior fool you they have a vast selection of wines here at all price ranges. With over 30 years of experience between the guys that own this place they can steer you in the right direction for a wine selection for any event. You will get first class customer service here but not overly pushy or them steering you to high end stuff. They have a lovely tasting room which we have used with friends and offer public tastings often.

A new wine store in Uptown is always a welcomed addition! Carte des Vins has a great selection of wines ranging from $ 10 to $ 70+. The staff is so helpful, and it’s great to have people who really know their stuff. Since I am very to new to wine, the staff offered some great recommendations and can tell you the flavor profile of each wine. From time to time, Carte des Vins will offer free tastings. Tonight, I tried out their rosé tasting, and it was well attended with a great atmosphere. People got to sample six different rosé while listening to cheesy rock music(it was their theme). Since they are only a couple of weeks old, I have to spread the word about them. You gotta check them out!
