Historic Walking Tours

I did the Historic Walking Tours Voodoo and Cemetary tour one day on a spur of the moment. The walking tour guide was reasonably interesting and so was some of the content but she seemed to linger too long on one or two stories and it became slightly boring. There were some interesting snipets and it was interesting to tour one of the cemeteries in the safety of a group (you are advised against visiting even during daylight hours alone as there is a lot of petty crime, mugging and such). What really put me off this tour however was the visit to the ‘Voodoo Priestess’ at the end of the tour. We were told we were going to be given a free ‘audience’ with her but this turned out to be a hokey attempt to flog us a load of voodoo rubbish in a little store. Talk about hard sell! I left before the ‘audience’ (as did a few others) and headed back to the Gentry House for an afternoon nap instead.
