These charming fellas served this hungry lady even though they were about to close shop and move on to their next destination-they get points just for that! I went for the root beer braised pork bahn mi and I wasn’t disappointed. At first glance it seemed too big to finish in one setting, but once I’d savored the tender, juicy goodness that lay between the slices of French bread, it was on. Parked at Hollygrove Farm & Market on pick-up day, it’s the perfect way to tide over your appetite until you dig into your produce box.

I opted for the Cochon De Lait:(Barq’s root beer braised Cochon De Lait, Mirliton and Red Onion Slaw, and pickled Chilies. Served on a Vietnamese Baguette) today at Hollygrove Market. It was tasty. I was worried about the pickled portion. Sometimes that can be overbearing, but in this cause it wasn’t. There were jalapenos, but they weren’t very spicy. The sandwich cost $ 7 and was good sized. Too bad it didn’t include a small side like Fork in the Road used to offer. I’m intrigued by the fact that they offer eggs over easy on sandwiches. I might try one on a grilled cheese next time. I love me some yoke!

I always get so excited when these guys are at Hollygrove farmers market on Tuesdays. The Bayou Banh mi is my absolute favorite(lemongrass chicken) that it’s hard for me to get anything else but the other food I’ve had from them has been really good too. The guy taking orders is really nice & remembers me now so that’s cool. Also they take credit cards so really convenient too.

Yum! I had the veggie Banh Mi & the person before me had the Bayou Banh Mi(chicken & boudin) and both were super tasty… not that I tasted hers. She was just raving. Seriously, I want to drive back over the Hollygrove Market(where they are right now) and get another sandwich, not because I’m hungry or anything. Nice guys and you can track where they are(and their specials) via their twitter feed: Next time I’m gonna try the spoonbread… along with my Bahn Mi.

I bought the Banh Mi sandwich($ 8) with a fried egg over easy on top(extra $ 2) which was AMAZING. Possibly the best sandwich I’ve eaten in this city of any kind. These guys were super friendly and accept credit cards! I highly recommend trying these sandwiches out. The truck seems to be outside Rendezvous most often — but they have a facebook page where you can track where they are tonight!
