I’ve been to nearly every nursery in the city and this one is great. Wide variety of succulents(one of my favorites) and interesting oddities including cool pots and different plants than your ordinary nursery. Staff is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great digs with cool landscaping. Variety of top soil, potting soil, fertilizers, potting mediums, and soil supplements. Plus a free soil test. I’m definitely returning.

Stopped by after passing by a few times to check out the succulent selection. The prices were fairly priced, although they didn’t have a wide variety or selection(yet) the guy who was there was very knowledgeable and helpful. I picked up a couple Jades. Very happy with.

Love this place. The guy who was there knew everything about the plants and was very patient with my questions and my children. It’s a great place to go if you don’t really know what you’re doing but really want to learn. He even steared me away from plants that would probably die soon. ALL of the plants looked healthy and happy. I will be going back.

I came here for some cactus soil and some pots. I left with a fairly-priced succulent and they hooked me up with some spare plastic pots after I mentioned I was propagating succulents. I’ll definitely be back to give them some samples.

Same problems as other reviewers about open hours. Go to their website to see their new address — they moved. I called, heard the open hours, left a message(never returned), drove to the site and it was locked up shut. When I went to their old site, I was moderately pleased. Limited selection, though pretty good prices and healthy looking plants. The guy working(owner?) seemed knowledgeable but not really encouraging autonomy in customers(saying something was too difficult to do when it wasn’t). I would happily frequent it for my needs, but the open hours game is running thin.

Initially, I had a hard time getting to Garden Thyme as a result of them being closed when their hours reported they’d be open; in fact, my first review stated«my three-star review will remain until I can finally get inside and scope this place out for real.» Well, I’ve gotten inside and scoped this place out for real, and my Real Review starts now: Garden Thyme is exactly what I(and presumably other New Orleanians) have been looking for. The owner of Garden Thyme is extremely knowledgeable and very nice. He’s answered all my questions honestly, even if the answer is «I don’t know, let me look into it,» and the real facts are delivered the next time I visit. Their new location(further up Washington, just past the turn onto Earhart) is much more convenient, has better parking, and looks like it also has better sunlight conditions for all the outdoor plants. Plus, the resident cat is sweet, and the giant pond out front is really impressive. Every plant I’ve bought from Garden Thyme(so far, just a super-hardy crown of thorns and a tiny, beautiful Jade plant, but I’m in the market for MANY more) have lasted longer than plants I’ve bought at other big-box plant stores(i.e. Lowe’s, Home Depot) and have come with more detailed descriptions of their growing needs, so it’s been much easier for me to keep them alive. I’m looking forward to spending the remainder of my expendable income at this little neighborhood gem!

I’ve been here twice now. The guy who owns? The place is very friendly and knowledgeable. The plants are like half the price of Lowes and look healthier. I will plan to be back and do much of my shopping here for plants.

Very helpful staff, although it is still in fledgling stage, it’s close to home, economical and a «good save“for former wasted space!

I guess it’s only fitting that I write a review for a plant store on Earth Day, right? I am thrilled to have this new plant/garden store around the corner from my house. Previously, the closest gardening supply store was Home Depot… nothing is more frustrating than having to drive to Home Depot multiple times to finish a project because you keep forgetting things. Now I can walk to Garden Thyme and get anything I need. It is a small store, but it has all the essentials. I am extremely happy with the sweet basil and thai basil I purchased the other day, and they were reasonably priced. They have a good selection of herbs and vegetables, which is what I was in the market for when I went in. It looks as though they have supplies for hydroponics as well. I love the interior of the store, and the guy working was very friendly and eager to help.

I was super excited that this old hubcap store was finally put back into use after being empty for over a decade. I’d been watching the conversion to a gardening center while the weather was cold and dreary. Friday I stopped in to pick up some herbs and also bought scented geraniums(the plants smell — nice to me but hopefully yucky to mosquitoes — and are supposed to be mosquito repellent). The man who helped me was great and we chatted about the hydroponic systems they sell. This shop *edit* sells the Verti Farms hydroponic systems who grow lots of hydroponic produce locally but they aren’t directly affiliated, as I was just informed. Just wanted to clarify… It looks like they’re still gearing up their stock but the space is nice although the outdoor area(where the plants are) is still a bit rubbely… why add gravel when you already have gravel, asphalt, rocks, whatever as your ground cover. The plants I bought looked gorgeous and I’m eager to use some of the basil, thyme & mint in the kitchen. I’m definitely interested in seeing what they become.
