EXCELLENT shrimp picked up outside the Hollygrove Market yesterday. I used the heads/tails/shells to make a shrimp stock and turned the whole thing into a fantastic cheesy shrimp and grits. Best S&Gs I’ve ever made! $ 5/lb for 21s. Great buy and great dinner.

Wow! I bought seven pounds of fresh jumbo shrimp and a seven pound black drum. Best meal I’ve had in a while. The shrimp went into my etoufee and I blackened the drum. This is one local who will be making this place my regular go-to seafood market. Not only is everything fresh but I also appreciate the great, old-school service.

This place is great if you want seafood the best large drum filet for cheap best quality filet to eat it makes so much sense. Also great is the customer service here from the captain. I was gonna post a pic of the fish after cooking but it’s gone now

The best fish monger in NOLA by far. Great service and fresh selections. Looking forward to shipping seafood to us farther north

Bare bones, no-frills. Not even industrial quality metal stands to display the seafood. Just charter boat ice chests filled to the brim with the dopest seafood you will find in the city of New Orleans. This is basically one of those roadside seafood stands that shrimpers and other fishermen pop up from time to time, but you can never actually find one when you need to buy some seafood. It just happens to have a permanent address in Gert Town. You won’t find a better price on shrimp in the city. I walked out with 5 pounds of beautiful jumbo shrimp for $ 16. Go here. Buy food from this man, so he’s still in business the next time I need to buy some seafood.

Exactly what a seafood market should be. If it ain’t fresh it ain’t for sale. Got some lovely shrimp the other day for $ 3.50 and on top of that discussed gumbo and got some great tips that turned out beautifully in the kitchen. Going back for fish soon. Wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

Great seafood at great prices and we always enjoy talking with Captain Valdrie both here and at Hollygrove market. The best quality at the lowest prices!

This place deserves to be an uptown institution. The owner is super personable and provides fresh fish always markedly below what it goes for at the supermarket. We try to stop by at least once a week.

So great to have a real fish monger in New Orleans. Fresh and dependent on what comes in that day from the boat, as it should be! When we have the Gulf of Mexico at our doorstep, why would you buy farm raised fish from Whole Foods?

Amazing fresh shrimp that we picked up from Hollygrove market! You can tell by the price that theyre getting product directly from fishermen.

Captain Valdrie is knowledgeable and eager to share his knowledge and info on his latest catch. The crawfish were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I will be back… thanks for the lesson on how to eat crawfish properly. Haha. :-)

I’ve been coming to From The Boat To You for a few months now, and could not be happier with the quality of the fish and the prices. If you’re looking for fish from the gulf, it is impossible to find a better place than From The Boat To You. You won’t be disappointed!

Captain Valdrie is the best! His fish and seafood are the freshest and most reasonably priced in all of uptown. Beyond that, he has the most amazing and welcoming personality! He will sell you the freshest fish in town, with the best attitude and amazing filleting skills. And his prices are amazing! Not to be missed!!! We buy from hi almost every weekend — drum, speckled trout, flounder, shrimp — and it is always amazing. He will trim the fish as you request, including a spectacularly innovative«for the BBQ» fashion that I had never seen and yielded fantastic results. Go check him out by Hollygrove Market on weekends or in front of the gas station on Carrolton. You won’t be sorry!

Bought some Drum for $ 3.50 a pound today and Capt Valdrie said it was caught the day before. I asked to smell the fish and its eyes were cloudy but not too sunken and no fishy smell so that sounded about right. He filleted the fish right in front of me and sent me on my way. Came home, washed em, hit em with some olive oil, tony cacheres, and old bay and threw it in a 425 degree oven for 9 minutes. This fish came out so bomb I know I’ll be back.

This is always the cheapest place to buy fresh seafood here on the Eastbank. Shrimp is at least a dollar a pound less than it is in the supermarkets, sometimes way less. It’s cash only, but you can get some good conversation and go next door to the service station for a beer and around the corner to the Hollygrove Market. If you’re looking for black drum, this place has it for $ 3.50 a pound right now. That’s compared to $ 10.00 a pound at Rouse’s.
