If zero stars was an option I would use it. This library is HORRIBLE. The staff is rude, the printers are ALWAYS broken. Their policy of helping multiple people at once ISNOTWORKING and the RUDE assistant manager needs to be FIRED. I placed a call to express my concerns and I have never received a return call. Just walk, ride, or catch a ride elsewhere!

Nice library around the rough New Orleans area. Beware of rude people. Noisy children running around. Luckily there are study rooms and desk up stairs! Sucks that it closes early, but I expect a no later time because of the area.

As a library connoisseur, I give this library 4 gold stars. This brand new facility is very cute. The building just looks so inviting and makes you want to come in and visit and get a little reading in! It’s a smaller library, but they have all the vital areas and you can definitely find some decent books on the grounds. If not, you can always get the books sent from other libraries to this location. There is also a small video collection, but some good finds to be seen here. This location has meeting space and study areas. I have gotten some weekend work done countless times at these facilities study areas. Only problem is there can be an outlet shortage, so you have to choose your sitting area carefully if you plan to do some work on a computer. Also, at this location you can find a computer lab as well as other computers throughout this location if you don’t own the electronic devices to handle your business. If you do have a device of your own Wi-Fi is available at this location. Parking is ample and I have never had a problem during the week or the weekend.

I’m going to give this location the wishful 1-star bump. I want to like it more than I do, but I inevitably end up kind of pissed off when I go. This brand-new library is the closest branch to me, and I can say without a doubt that it’s a beacon in the New Orleans East landscape. The architecture is very modern and clean-cut, the insides are all concrete-spankin’ new, and the neon plastic furniture is fancily flimsy. There is a low-to-medium selection of books, which I consider normal for a library that’s only been open a few months(hey, they’ve got to leave room on the shelves for all the theoretical new arrivals!) HOWEVER. 1. All the staff seems aggravated or tired. They seem surprised when I am polite and agreeable and it clearly brightens their faces. This is most likely due to: 2. The clientele(not sure if this is the correct word for those who frequent a public service) is terrible. And by terrible, I pretty much just mean annoying and rude. I stood behind a woman for 15 minutes once who turned in a stack of 10+ DVDs late and then argued with the staff member who told her she ONLY needed to pay $ 2 towards her $ 16 fine in order to check out more items. That’s not even 15%! She finally just stormed out. People seem to come here to use the computers and Internet, which is understandable, and I’m glad that the NOLAPL can provide such a service. People waiting for the computer, though, are the worst – talking on their cell phones, and talking louder when asked to please step outside. I honestly feel like I’m the only person who even checks out books here. Every book I’ve ever borrowed did that brand-new-book page-edges crack when I brought it home. This is kind of a plus. It’s just depressing though. For college and high school students, there are some study rooms and study desks upstairs. I appreciate that the library is moving toward some more programming. There’s a monthly book club starting up next month(January), weekly read-alouds for kids, and the calendar of events can be found on the front desk.
