OMG! This place is completely over-rated. I received a groupon discount for a deep tissue massage and what I got was some perverted old guy who was in my opinion an unlicensed masseuse. I mean where did he get his degree out of a cracker jacks box. Massages are about clearing your mind, relaxing your muscles and enjoying the silence. Instead Duke Morgan’s provided me a talking, spitting parrot(Problem #1). I was asked what aroma I would like, I requested peppermint and instead I was given what they had left and he takes the bottle and puts it near my nose and take 3 deep breaths of it(Problem #2). Is this man for real??? Excuse me but shouldn’t the oil be in an oil diffuser. Problem #3 — The room should have been dimly lit, instead it was pitch dark and I had to use the one candle in the room to direct me to the massage bed. This man gave me every technique he could possibly remember. Result — I needed a massage for the massage I just received. Never again would I go back. I see why they aren’t open everyday. The owners need to close up shop and save themselves the embarrassment or hire whole new staff.

I came here for an Aromatherapy massage and I didn’t see any of the«please tip accordingly if you are a Groupon or Living Social person»(per se) signs that others mentioned. The atmosphere is serene and perfectly has a touch of New Orleans. I was running a few minutes(2 – 3) late which I know is like a cardinal sin at a spa but the staff here was SUPER nice to me(when normally you get snubbed for doing so). My therapist even told me that they had a break after my service so they could still give me a full service. I thought this was super nice. As far as the reservation system goes, yes you call and leave a voicemail. Duke himself did call me back when they were open(Thurs — Sat). He was extremely nice and accommodating and I didn’t feel put off by their system at all… to each his own. They do spa packages that offers good discounts and«series» massage packages. Also on Thursdays they do a deal where if you buy a spa pedi you get a spa mani for FREE, cool deal! There aren’t relaxation areas per se. You simply get escorted up to your treatment rooms, so if you are looking for a big spa experience, you will not find it here. This is a lovely boutique spa experience. My therapist was super helpful and did talk to me, but when I was not engaging conversation in return, he remained quiet so as I could enjoy my service. If you want a deep tissue massage definitely as for Jay, he can deliver one! He made sure he worked out all of my «kinks» and also focused on the areas I told him I was having the most tension. Overall Duke Morgan is a great local spa. As a person who actually managed one of the larger spas in the city(and knows the ins and outs), I was very pleased with my experience at Duke Morgan and would return.

So a couple of months ago this Spa was featured on living social, I bought the coupon for an hour Sweedish massage, and then earlier this week I decided to cash in my coupon. Making the appointment was a total pain because they don’t answer the phone, they just expect you to leave a voicemail and then wait for them to call you back. This is pretty inconveniant for anyone who can’t answer their phone at all times, which turns out to be pretty much everyone. I ended up playing phone tag for a couple of days. Anyway, I eventually made my appointment and then got my massage. The massage therapist was great which made the massage great! I would definately return here for a massage.

I had really high hopes for this place, for my first visit I had a 60 minute facial. I’ve never been so pressured to spend money in my life. I was pressured to get a dermaplane upgrade, because«I really needed it».)When I visited friends in my hometown a couple of months later, I went to my old spa and the esthetician couldn’t believe I had been talked into that service.) Additionally, I was pressured to buy products upon checking out. I tried Duke Morgan a second time for a massage, and was really disappointed. It was more like a sports massage, with lots of stretching and talking. Totally NOT relaxing. Finally, I purchased a Living Social deal that I couldn’t pass up for a massage. I asked for a different massage therapist, hoping for a different result. Unfortunately, it was the same type of massage. They also were very snobby about me being a «Living Social» customer, even though I tried to explain that I’ve been there before. Overall, really disappointing.

I went to Duke Morgan the Spa a few weeks ago to enjoy an hour massage! Oh was it perfect! What a wonderful place, so peaceful and relaxing. My massage therapist was beyond exceptional. I enjoyed my entire experience thoroughly and will definitely be back for more! Maybe a mani/pedi with my massage? Duke Morgan is a must try!

I know, I know, a day spa on Magazine. Shock and surprise. There was a great offer posted on Living Social, so I decided to try it out. Let’s go with the pluses first: My nail tech(who’s also an esthetician) Vicki, was great. She’s friendly, professional and took my every request to heart. My nails look great and received a great massage as part of the ritual. The space is an eclectic hodgepodge of Balinese and Chippendale/Duncan Fife antiques with candles, hair and skincare products for sale. Every service tech I dealt with personally during my visit was friendly & helpful. The minuses have been dancing in my head, and make me really hesitant to make a repeat visit. It was incredibly difficult to make a reservation or speak with someone on the phone. They have limited(and therefore limiting) hours of operation and more often than not, you’re speaking into an answering machine, It doesn’t cultivate the image of someone who takes their business seriously. It’s too easy nowadays to have an online reservation system if it’s too hard to have someone man the phones. The second issue was regarding gratuities. There are signs posted near the register as a reminder to those using Living Social vouchers to tip according to the actual value of the service, not based on the discount. Fine. Insulting, but fine. I know there’s tightwads out there who won’t tip properly even with a gun to their heads. But to have it regurgitated to me again when I’m paying for the service is a little irritating.
