Poor clientele service! Doesn’t return calls to include voicemails or texts regarding service.

I’ve read some of the reviews, and I will say that some are pretty accurate in terms of time management and styling, however, Dana still rocks her show. I first moved down to NOLA in ’06 and it was a nightmare trying to find somebody qualified and capable of doing my natural hair. How could this be? In a town that is so culturally blended with nationalities that created some of the most gorgeous grades of hair. So where did that leave me… at home, doing my own damn hair. It wasn’t until ’10, when I moved back down to NOLA, did I find the Dana Chanel Salon, sitting right there, across from Popeye’s on St. Charles Avenue. She had been there the whole time, and I had been completely oblivious, til that point. I decided to go in and meet the owner, whom is Dana, she and I scheduled an appointment, and the rest is history. Now, Dana has been late a few times with me, but she comes with an apology, unlike some hair stylists I have gone to. An apology counts for something in my book. But when you are finally in Dana’s chair, you sit there feeling good; because 1. she is about to give you a great cut or trim, and 2. your hair is in the care of somebody with«growing hands»(meaning, she keeps your hair healthy, and has the right touch to make your hair grow). I personally tried out many salons; Uptown, Garden District, Gentilly, The East… and nobody does it like Dana. As for styling, just a suggestion, maybe coming with a couple styles in mind might help her to give you what you’re looking for when you walk out of her shop. But she’s definitely worth a visit.

I’m not sure if my review got tagged, but once again, It was bad! That’s all I have to say! PLEASENOTE: If you go, DON’T ASKFORGINGER! She will mess your hair up! I wish I could give it no starts. I moved to New Orleans for school. Naturally I needed a place to get my hair done. I went to this Salon because a friend recommended it and I saw the great job her stylist did on her hair. So as the woman before me I took the first person who answered the phone. Except I was not so lucky. My appointment was at 12:00pm and I did not leave until about 5:00pm because my stylist, GINGER, double booked many of her appointments. Many times people who came in behind me left before me. While I was there I got a relaxer, deep condition and a «trim» for $ 70 dollars. Needless to say, my stylist burnt me with the relaxer, left me in the back of the salon under to dryer for a good hour to forget about me because she had too many clients, said she«trimmed» my hair when in reality she only cut the ends and styled only half my hair because she was so behind. I had curls on one side and straight hair on the other. I have paid less for better service. Because she«trimmed» my hair, I had to go to Super Cuts to get a proper hair cut. On top of that she sang to all of the songs on her iPad(badly) and continued to text someone while straightening my hair. It was the worst service I have ever experienced at a salon my whole life. Unfortunately, this does review not reflect the entire salon. All the other stylist did not double book and got their clients in and out in a timely manner. They were also very professional. I really wanted to ask the other stylist if they could finish my hair since Ginger was taking too long. If you do go, ask for anyone but Ginger. You will be happy you did

I’m from Los Angeles so when I moved to New Orleans I was hoping to find a hair dresser who met my standards. I know that Toya Carter and singer Kourtney Heart get their hair done here so I decided to try it out. Needless to say, I was not all that impressed. The first time I went, the service was quick. I got a full weave and Dana finished in about 2 hours but she barely styled it and some of my real hair was sticking straight up. When I got home I styled my hair better than she had and I am not a stylist. The second time I went, my hair appointment was at 10:30. I did not sit in the chair until 11:45. I don’t think I’ll be going back.

You might call me crazy. I prefer the term adventurous. After a twitter friend turned me on to this salon, I called and made an appointment with the first person to answer the phone. I knew nothing about her or her credentials, but still I made an appointment for a relaxer and a haircut. Both of which are big no-nos. The unofficial rules of hair salons dictate that you should never have a new stylist do the big things(i.e. relaxer and/or hair cut) before you see them tackle a simple wash. But like I said, I’m adventurous. And I couldn’t be happier. My stylist’s name was Ashley. She talked me through the entire process and did a fabulous job. I will definitely be back.
