Excited to see a seafood market close to home! It may take some time to work their kinks out(limited hours and selection), but everything looked great.

3⁄5 let’s support a new business! so it’s fresh seafood(filets, wholes, shrimp and crawfish), and produce(light fruits and veggies) AND you can get the first BOILED and be on your merry way! i always wondered what the building was and one night on my drive home, behold lights! i stopped by one afternoon and they are trying to do fresh right — if you talk with the kind folks behind the counter they can even work in a special live order for your boil at home. i wasn’t up for peeling the afternoon away, but i did leave with 4 boiled potatoes and 2 boiled sausages(just the sides, so to speak) for $ 2.18. boom.

My true Southern colors were showing today as I drove away from this new seafood market on my way home from work. I got a pound of boiled shrimp & some fresh Tilapia filets. The smell of the shrimp was tantalizing & I found myself peeling a few at stop lights, perfectly spicy juice running down to my elbows as I hurried to get it into my mouth before the light turned green. Amazing, just barely too spicy, my lips were happily on fire as I made up my mind to go back for the crawfish asap. This little shop opened a few weeks ago and it is well stocked with many different kinds of super fresh fish filets, tuna steak, homemade Cajun sausages, & produce. They carry some of the largest carrots I’ve ever laid eyes on! The gentlemen behind the counter was so nice, he talked about where they get the seafood and how I could cook the fish I bought. He let me try a crawfish & y’all, I’m so afraid to say this because I don’t want them to sell out, these mudbugs were MASSIVE. And cheap! Only about $ 4 a pound. I have not seen any other crawfish this big yet this season & believe me, I’ve been looking. My mouth was watering & I was regretting not getting any crawfish this time but now that I know where they’re hiding… DaFresh is really kind of squirreled away in the Lower Garden District neighborhood. While it is right on the corner of Baronne & Jackson, you might miss it if you aren’t looking for it. And I’m ok with the fact that you might miss it because then there will be more for me!
