Intimate setting in an unassuming commercial pocket between Uptown and Broadmoor hosting classes that range from erotic bounce to belly dancing. Am I the average demographic that would seek out the space? Not so much. But! what a welcoming environment for all. I had been taking a weekly bounce fitness class across town before discovering this convenient spot. Crazy love for Kryss and Marissa(AKA Dat Moe Joe). You MUST take some classes here.

Signed up for the Pole-esque class with Andrea(Miss Oops) for a bachelorette party. We had so much fun! Andrea instantly put all the girls at ease. She made us laugh and had plenty of modifications for the difficult pole moves. This was a huge hit!

Thank you, Bella for such a great experience! Came here for a private Burlesque class for a bachelorette party of five. This was all very new to each of us, so we went in feeling a bit timid to say the least! Bella was very welcoming as soon as we got there. She was extremely encouraging, which gave us motivation to give it our best! The class was engaging, entertaining, and a good workout! It was definitely a fun experience to share with a close group of friends for such a special occasion. The hour flew by in no time because we were having such a blast. We have pictures and videos to prove it! I definitely recommend making a stop here to learn how to Burlesque dance, especially for bachelorette parties. Even if you can’t pick up the moves, it’s just fun to share laughs at one another :)

I guess my experience was not that same as others. I had my bachelorette party in New Orleans and there was 15 of us that had a private class on Saturday. None of us were that impressed. She told us we would break up into 2 or 3 groups at the end and perform for each other and were all competitive so we were looking forward to it. We never ended up doing that. Then she kept staring at the clock and letting us know how much was left like she was rushing us out of there. But the thing that annoyed me the most was I said I would be paying for everything on one card before the class in an email a few days before. She said this was ok and when I pulled out my card before the class she said she didn’t have a card machine. Wouldn’t you tell someone that before? Thank goodness I had enough cash to pay her for 15 of us and tip her.

We had Kryss for a private class for my sisters bachelorette party and we all loved it! I think some of us didn’t know what to expect, but she definitely eased us into the world of burlesque dancing. There was catchy music and plenty of feather boas. I definitely recommend this for a group of girls looking to get their sexy on!

Came here for a private Burlesque class as part of my bachelorette party. Bella was a fantastic teacher and made the whole experience really fun. We all laughed at ourselves but we still learned at least a little something. Bella also does perform on bourbon street so we checked her show out on Saturday at Lucky Pierre’s and it is definitely worth checking out! I would highly recommend the class and show!

Nice facility, offers private group lessons. Kept the pole dancing class fun and at a good pace for beginners. Great price and a good time for a group of girls. She knows what she’s doing! P. S. It’s harder then it looks!

Krystine is an amazing instructor! We had ten girls for her Pole’rotica class. She knew we were nervous so she started off easy. She did a really nice job adjusting her pace depending on the group. It was a lot of fun and I definitely recommend this class for a bachelorette class!

Took a private Burlesque dance class with Kryss this afternoon for my sister’s bachelorette weekend. Honestly we were all a little nervous and didn’t know what to expect. It was not only a therapeutic experience as we were all feeling woozy from the Quarter the night before, but it was so much fun. We did not feel pressured or anxious during it, seeing as none of us have had any burlesque dancing experience ever(and I would say I am pretty shy with performing). The music was fabulous and Kryss really shows you how to feel confident with your body and flaunt it sexily. And she didn’t just give us a dance lesson; we learned a good deal about the origins of burlesque and what it all really means. The 5 of us will surely take with us what we learned and if I return to NoLa again, I’ll be sure to return for another class. Or maybe even a bounce class… Highly recommended!!!

At 42 I took my first dance class in my life! I started taking beginner’s bellydance at Crescent Lotus almost a year ago. Now I take Burlesque, Balkan Bellydance, and Pole fitness as well! This studio and its many wonderful instructor’s have all helped me find and embrace the beautiful woman inside of me. The friendship’s formed are some of the dearest I have made in my adult life. It is an amazing studio!

This review is for Alexis Kyman’s pop-up yoga classes that started today at Crescent Lotus. For those of you who don’t know, Alexis was a popular teacher at Life Yoga on Magazine Street before moving out on her own. The originator of «funky flow»(as far as I know), Alexis’ classes offer a vigorous Vinyasa class(*at your level* as they are open to all levels) to hip hop/R&B and dancey pop music. Yes, this goes outside the«yoga box,» so if you’re used to traditional citar/chanting and a soft spoken teacher it may be jarring at first. Alexis teaches the class in a spirited way with a unique voice and presentation. It really gears you up to get going and flow, flow, flow your heart out and I love it. Besides all of this, classes are the lowest priced you’ll find in the city, at only $ 5 a class. The room is large and mirrored, the floor is wood(it’s meant for dancers, after all) and at a comfortable temperature. I mention all of this because I’ve realized that this is rather important to me. Don’t get me wrong. I like to sweat, but I like to sweat because I’m generating my own sweat, not due to a room being 90 degrees(or if you practice Bikram, well over 100 degrees). Yesterday, I took a class at Life, who has some of my favorite teachers in the city, that had me a little less than blissful by the end of it. The reason for this? The room was stifling to the point that I couldn’t hold postures because I was slipping off my mat. Windows and front door open and fans running should be a requirement if the a/c is off. In addition to this, they pack in students to the tiny railroad studio to the point where if you’re next to the wall, you’re kind of blocked *and* due to this, one of the students knocked a statue off and onto the floor, creating a mess of debris all over my mat. Sure, I can try and be as yogini-like as the next person, but it was a bit much to handle. I’m really at the point where if I have the time to not just run across the street to practice, I’m going to practice elsewhere. I love Life, I love the teachers, but I think they’ve outgrown their space. Bravo for them… and it’s great to see so many people into yoga here in New Orleans(where I love practicing more than anywhere else b/c it’s so much less competitive in feel than, say, New York City). I feel bad that I’m littering Crescent Lotus’ page with all of this when I’m just trying to leave them a good review. But maybe it will help you if you’re trying to make a decision for a Sunday midday class. I hope Alexis’ classes continue and grow here(in addition to Sundays, I mean).

This studio is quaint and comfortable. Very easy to find and there is a parking lot in the back. I attended the first burlesque class that was offer during the Culture Club series. Anyway, there are a lot of regulars that attend and are super talented, but very welcoming to new comers. The space was adequate for about 15 students and the course was great. It’s a little warm, so you definitely want to wear something comfortable, but for temperature and stretching. Bella, the instructor has a lot of personality and is passionate about sharing the history of burlesque dancing, so you don’t just get a class, you learn a little something. It was a great workout… not too much, but enough to feel that even if I don’t know how to seductively undress, I can certainly get there. It’s definitely worth checking out. Lots of fun and super affordable! If you’re not sure this is your type of thing, it’s conveniently located near Felipe’s, so grab some liquid courage and strut your stuff to the Crescent Lotus Dance Studio!

So I actually took advantage of the Unilocal Elite Culture events and attended a free burlesque class this evening. The instructor is a doll. Her name is Bella Blue. Because this is so outside of the box for me I was a little out of my comfort zone but she made me feel better. The girls here are fabulous and by the end of the class I felt like I wanted to come back for more. Even if Burlesque doesn’t turn out to be my thing, I’m still glad I tried it and did something different. This lady is very talented and you can tell she loves what she does. That’s the best kind of teacher you can ask for. I really hope I can make the time to come back and take more classes just for fun. I wish her the best and I highly recommend that you come and check it out. Like I said, this was out of the box for me and I had a great time. I’m sure you will as well. Also, I can’t compare this dance studio to any other place because I’ve never been to any other dance studio! And frankly, I don’t think I care to. I live close by and I like this instructor so I personally wouldn’t go anywhere else.
